I'm 90 years old and a big sports enthusiast. This has been the very first time I watched women's college basketball, thanks to the Caitlin Clark phenomenon. And, yes, I'll tune in the WNBA.

you're not that big of a women basketball enthusiast if it took her to get you to tune in. Kim Mulkey and Dawn Staley were great players before they ever became coaches, Sue Bird / Diana Taurasi have been 2 of the best U Conn players Geno coached in the 2010s, S Carolina Lady Gamecocks dominance in the Dawn Staley coaching era, etc

That's beautiful! I'm a former teacher and it's great coming from a small town. I'm almost 60 & from time to time I still run into my teachers, coaches who impacted my life. I check on my kindergarten teacher who would spy on me in my teens. 😆 🤣 😂 I run into my former students & their parents. We get paid very little. But the joy of seeing your students prosper it the greatest reward! ❤️ 👍 🏆

Much respect to Caitlin and her amazing accomplishments. I look forward to seeing her in the WNBA. Put some respect on the South Carolina team and coach historic season!!!!!!!!!

It's because no women's basketball team ever gets much attention, regardless of their accomplishments. WNBA or collegiate. This attention started because of a classic "Great White Hope" situation. Everyone loves an underdog, but White Conservatives in particular want to see white people do well in basketball (because black people dominate the sport despite being only 15% of the population). Caitlin is a white, non problematic(to them that means doesn't make left leaning public comments), straight, Catholic, no tattoos, from the midwest, "girl next door" type. The thing is, they might be watching and supporting because they are bigots deep down, but the potential revenue from them can benefit everyone in the WNBA. Even the Black LGBTQ+ players that they dislike. Its a win for all the women players. Hopefully this can help the league as a whole get some higher pay.

The league is still young and has a long way to go. But I can say for myself that these young girls are way more advanced in their skills, in comperision to the player's in my day. And I'm love seeing the game and players evolving! I wish them all the best, I think this is the greatest class of 1st round player's the WNBA has had, since the start of the league!

I’m a lifelong Iowa resident and Hawkeye fan. Props to SC for their undefeated and dominant season! I hope someday Iowa can be a destination for the 4 and 5 star players but I’m not holding my breath. NCAAW only has a few top dog schools that always get the best recruits. Iowa crashed the private giving fans like me to see “how the other half lives” for once, lol.

@@seanthompson1197I don’t think it’s just conservatives tuning in. She has the total package regarding marketability. Superstar talent, Caucasian, not all tattooed up or with piercings, from the Midwest, played on a non traditional power, doesn’t get in trouble, easy interview, humble, non political, feminine, good looking, intelligent, heterosexual. In short..she is very different…something that has never been seen before.

I’m from Iowa. She’s the real deal. I’m can’t wait to see what the future holds for her .
Caitlin Clark in my opinion, is like the Beatles coming to America.
Let's be honest. Why is she the ONE that has transformed women's basketball? Why not some other great player before her? She brings an entire package that no other player has EVER brought before. Some have had parts of the package, but not all of the parts. She is a great player, an magnetic personality, she's pretty, she's smart and witty. She is confident yet humble and on and on. Some before her have had part of those qualities, but not all of them. It is that simple.

Clark is not better than Maya Moore, Candace Parker, Sue Bird or Delle Donne coming out of college. She is popular because the media latched on because of the shooting range. When you really look at her game you realize it's limited. She can shoot and pass. She only shoots from the right side. She is only effective going right. She has no defense and can be neutralized by players with quick feet.

@huntsimple9527 That's true but I don't know what you're looking at. When I look at Clark I don't see pretty. She has masculine features as does a lot of women basketball players. She acts way more feminine than she looks. Clark has no hips, no boobies, broad shoulders and an overly pronounced lump in her throat. Her feet in high heels looks unnatural.

Her rookie contract is the same salary as some entry level IT jobs, it's ridiculous. What she's going to bring to the league is going to change all of that. New fans/exciting games = more viewership = more sponsors/network TV deals = more money. She'll get paid regardless from a Nike deal and other endorsements, but her presents in the league will set a new precedence for what these athletes will get paid and that's huge going forward. She has the league on her shoulders and hasn't even played a game yet.

Most college grads would be happy making $80,000 out of college with no debt and it's only for the Summer and 36 games plus playoffs. That's why it can't be compared to the NBA. Even when the game grows, she might not make more that $1 million a year and that's if she's a superstar.
