CAF Story | “Nothing is impossible.”

CWO Martine Guay is responsible for looking after the morale and mental well-being of her troops. Proudly the first female Regimental Sergeant Major at Canadian Special Operations Forces Command Headquarters, she believes that taking care of one’s physical and mental health is the most important step toward achieving their goals. #MyCAFStory #CANSOFCOM

'It's not about being a woman or being a man, it is about being able to deliver...', a statement that I think strongly describes what leadership or any position should strive for. I hope to convince this to my junior Air Cadets.

@@blitkriegmemosia3990 Well they were looking at making citizenship not a requirement and take in foreign volunteers. I have contacted the US army recruiter, they told me with my current eyes I could get into the US infantry,, the most powerful infantry fighting force on earth, I would assume at least, yet the CAF have their standards set to near "perfect" vision which I think is just unnecessary. Maybe for a pilot, or a boat captain sure, but for run of the mill infantry I think it's just too high.

Why are the vision standards so high? Every combat trade you need next to perfect vision, yet in the US, the UK, New Zealand, the French Foreign Legion, it's all lower, I know because I messaged them and called them. So you need 20/20 and 20/30 vision corrected to be in combat, but to be a boatswain which is essentially naval infantry you don't? These are the questions I ask myself. Now since I can't get in I'm having to look at ever alternative, Russian armed forces take foreigners, New Zealand takes foreigners, Australia, the FFL, the UK, but there's always a stipulation to get in. It's overly complicated.

@@williamjames4031 I think so at this point. Considering how close I am to the standard I still cannot get a waiver. I see 20/20 with both eyes open and have full field of view because my right eye does most of the work. I called the US right, the recruiter asked his "commander" of the recruiting office and he said something like it's 20/30 and 20/100 and I'm like there's no way. But apparently for US infantry that is the standard, if I remember correctly.
