    To add to Tip #1 - The answers typically are obvious if you know the outcome of certain things. For example if the mathematical problem is presented as 0.5 multiplied by 12, and you are given the option of a) 1 b) 12 c) 0.6 or d) 6, you can look at the numbers and eliminate very quickly. It's obvious that a is way to low, b is way to high since 1 x 12 is 12, c is impossible because a decimal number that low, multiplied by the larger number will provide a much higher number, and I don't need to confirm that d is correct because the logical breakdown has been completed. Answer and move on. The time it takes you to answer the question is monitored and factored, so using pen and paper to confirm the answer is not the intent. Alternatively if the question is 0.5 divided by 12 and are given the answers of a) 12, b) .4 c) 0.004 or d) 0.4, you can eliminate a because the number must be smaller than 0.5, 0.4 is too larger compared to 0.5, and 0.004 is way to small for what would be expected, so therefore d is the answer. Don't confirm it, just answer and move on. Look at the answers, read the question, eliminate illogical answers and you'll be left with the correct answer. The answers are usually pretty illogical, which makes it easier.

    I implemented this strategy a few months ago. I might add...if there is a question with many variables, skip to the next one you can solve under a minute. This way if you are going to burn on a mark, it will be one of the more difficult questions and not one you could potentially answer quickly.

    Having just done the CFAT, it was definitely harder than the practice test given. If you want something of similar difficulty, there is the PublicServicePrep guide for Canadian military book that has a practice CFAT, just rent it from the library. I got a near perfect score so I was told. Having a background in engineering doing mental calculations daily certainly made it smoother sailing.

  • @TheAwesomeness490

    @TheAwesomeness490

    Жыл бұрын

    @@bluedx8062 I found it to be relatively manageable. It is sort of split into 3 sections, the first is like vocabulary and reading skills + reasoning, the second is like spatial ability and logical thinking, and the third is largely arithmetic and various calculations. I wouldn't say that any of it was particularly difficult, I took one practice test beforehand and felt prepared. The only word of advice I'd give is to not linger too long on the questions in the 2nd part of the test. Mind you, I think mileage varies a bit depending on comfort with arithmetic and logical thinking. I have a background in engineering so this wasn't too bad for me, but nonetheless I still think that most people shouldn't have too hard a time. Just prepare a bit, do the practice test under test-like conditions, and you should be fine :)

In most cases you can re-activite your previous application and do not need to complete the online application again, you can just contact the recruiting centre and request to re-open your file. You will need to have a reason, like you have improved on whatever portion of the application you were unsuccessful on. Applying to a different branch will not change your results, all branches share files and information. Your file will transfer.

Sometimes it can can take multiple evening appointments instead. In general, testing will not begin until all source documents (ID, Education, Employment history, References) have been submitted.

    5 ай бұрын

    Good question, CFAT score is used as criteria on the competition list. I don’t think it will apply to the situation, because the competition list is for occupations with high competition, meaning more applicants than positions. The CFAT exemption is for “in demand” occupations, meaning we need people. So there should not be overlap, ie there is not competition for in demand occupations.

    I am not an expert on Regular Force contracts so I'm not the best person to ask. An oversimplified version in general is that you must serve at least the same amount of time that it took for your training. For example, if it takes 1.5 years to get trained you must do a minimum of three years total.

  • @PrairieSailor

    @PrairieSailor

    Жыл бұрын

    Full time summer employment is voluntary based on your availability. However, completing the training courses eventually is mandatory, meaning you cannot put it off indefinitely. You don't need to work full time the whole summer, just the dates of your training courses. 3 weeks for Basic, 5 weeks for environmental training, and 6-12 weeks for occupational training. You can do one course each summer and stretch this out over 3-5 years. Some training courses are also broken down into shorter modules to make it more manageable. We try to be flexible, but you will definately need to do some full time training during the summers.

    I have a question if I have an unpaid student loan would I still qualify to join the Caf ?

    Most likely yes you will be eligible. In some cases very severe financial situations can be a security concern, but average student debt does not meet that threshold in my experience.

    Yes, I’m working on a new video with the details. Not all “in demand” jobs let you skip, it has to say “expedited application trial”.

    Hello, and thank you for all the useful information on your channel. I and originally from Iran, but I became a Canadian citizen in 2017, finished my bachelor of Kinesiology a year ago and applied for PT school with the aim of getting into the forces for PT officer trade, Unfortunately, I got waitlisted for the PT school. I am still very determined and interested to join but I want to make sure that I can make use of my undergrad degree. SO I have some questions, regarding how to increase my chance to get in for officer trade. I am located in Halifax and spoke to the recruiter multiple times but I was not able to get many answers from them, Or maybe I am just overthinking everything and just have to start the process. 1- What are my chances considering my civilian university? 2- How do I choose the trade that gives me the best chance? 3-Any overall tips on my situation? 4- Am I competing with those who have joined previously or have completed their bachelor's at RMC?

    Great questions! I am not an expert in Regular Force competition list, so I would think a Reg Force recruiter would have better answers, but I'll do my best. 1. Your chances are good considering your degree. The fact you completed it in Canada is great, it means you don't have to do an academic accreditation for foreign degrees. 2. Choosing an in demand trade gives you the best chance, but is not required. 3. Best overall tip - specifically ask your recruiter for a list of ALL occupations your degree qualifies you for. Then ask for that list to include which ones are open, which are closed, and which are in demand. Then choose your #1 and/or #2 that are open, then put an in demand one as your #3. 4. It is tough for me to say who you are competing with. DEO (Direct Entry Officer) is a different entry plan than RMC, so you aren't competing directly, but I don't exactly know how they choose who fills the jobs.

    Is there a minimum height standard for personnel like LogO or HRA?

  • @PrairieSailor

    @PrairieSailor

    I don't think there is a minimum height standard at all (maybe some exceptions for specialized occupations like fighter pilot). You need to pass the Force Evaluation which includes lifting a 20kg sandbag to a height of one metre 30 times.

    High school graduation is not required, you just need grade 10 complete and to pass the aptitude test.
