Cadillac Escalade TPM Reset after Wheel Rotation…Super Simple !!!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Resetting the TPMS for the 2008 Escalade after doing a tire rotation. The system is actually well thought out by GM and is easy to do....it even tells you which tire to go to and in what sequence by illuminating the corner lights and the brake lights.

    Hey man ! Yes, I agree completely, lol. GM did do a good job of adding in things to help folks. They still even have the routine built in un-flood the motor due to the notoriously leaky fuel injectors from the mid ‘80’s, lol ! Although injectors don’t leak much anymore thanks to improved designs, it’s is quite helpful for a stuck fuel tank purge valve as this causes a similar condition. Probably hardly anyone even knows it anymore, but to turn off the injectors to clear the motor, pressing the gas pedal to the floor while cranking the motor shuts down the injectors (and spark I think) to just pull air in…then when the pedal is released while still cranking, the injectors and spark turn back on and it will start up. Probably way too much reply to your comment, but it is nice that GM makes things easier for owners, lol. All the best ! Steve

    Lol ! Thanks man 👍. Yep, I do like black vehicles for sure and these two have been pretty good ones overall. They get a bit grumpy from time to time (thus several videos on the channel for them, lol), but nothing so far that a DIY’er can’t handle with a few tools and some spare time. All the best ! Steve

    Thanks man. Very helpful. I hate taking my car to any shop. But these days with needing to program every part that is replaced on the car, I'm gonna have to either start using the dealerships, or suck it up and figure out what tool I need to buy to be able to program these parts that are coded to the vehicle.

    Thanks 👍. Yep, seems the car companies want to make it much more difficult for DIY’ers to work on them, but fortunately aftermarket companies make some scanners that will allow re-coding for basic items. I’m used to working on my BMWs which require software to do almost anything (even replacing the battery as they have to be registered, lol ! ) so I’m kind of used to it, but it is annoying to have to take one to a specialist or dealer just to have some simple thing replaced for sure. Thanks again and all the best ! Steve

    When u said spray bubbles, what do u mean??

  • @StevesDIYs

    @StevesDIYs

    9 ай бұрын

    Hello, spraying some liquid soap (like kitchen dish soap) mixed with water on the valve stems once you have filled the tires to the correct pressure will let you know if the valve stem seal is leaking. If it starts to make big bubbles appear after you spray it on the valve stem, then you have a bad stem seal and the stem seal will need to be replaced. Anytime you put air into a tire, there’s always a chance that the stem seal will not seal back and then the tire will loose it’s air pressure making you think you have a puncture in the tire. Hope this helps and all the best ! Steve

    I was told on the tire rotation you take it too front. You cross them with the back and bring your two back straight to the front

  • @StevesDIYs

    Hello, yes, for directional tires and most modern tires, it’s important that the tire rotates the same direction as it did before rotating the tires 👍. This means that if was on the left of the vehicle it needs to stay on the left…right stays on the right. This way the tires still turn in the same direction both before and after rotating the tires. Actually, in thinking about the phrase “tire rotation”, it probably should be changed now since they are no longer rotated…more like swapped front to rear, lol ! All the best ! Steve

    Does this work when replacing old sensors with new ones?

  • @StevesDIYs

    @StevesDIYs

    Жыл бұрын

    Hello, I think as long as the sensor is an OE replacement part for the vehicle, it should register with the vehicle since the communication frequency would be the correct one. I am not 100% sure since I’ve not had to replace any of mine, but for sure a GM dealer would be able to confirm that they would. Hope this helps a little and all the best! Steve

    Did you check the spare tire?

  • @StevesDIYs

    @StevesDIYs

    Actually, the spare tire on mine doesn’t have a tire pressure monitor in it (not sure if that’s standard from the factory or not) so it wouldn’t give a code or be part of the reset process on this one.

  • @StevesDIYs

    @StevesDIYs

    Hello, not sure which year they started using TPMS, but an easy way to tell would be to just hold the lock and unlock buttons like I did in the video. If it shows it on the dash or beeps the horn and lights the corner light then it should do it. You can always just turn the key back off and it takes it out if program mode

    Do I have to do this if I downgrade rim size

  • @StevesDIYs

    @StevesDIYs

    Ай бұрын

    Hello, if you mark which tire pressure sensor is in each rim (front left, front right for example) and then put them back the same in the new rims, it probably won’t need relearning. Probably easier just to swap them to the new rims without keeping up with where they were and just doing the relearn since it’s not very difficult to do.
