    The sheriff broke the law in several ways: 1. Using public funds for personal projects 2. Trying to enforce the law outside of his legal jurisdiction. 3. Using the court system to suppress or harm the victim maliciously. What is disturbing is that the Indiana law enforcement agency allowed the illegal short term kidnapping of the Rev at their facility. They should be held accountable for that farce! Shame on them! I hope he gets justice on multiple levels. If every other person reading this would file a complaint online with both state attorney general's offices consumer division, even if you want to be anonymous, they have to investigate and or refer to another state agency! Let's do this for the Rev.!

    This is where the police need to utilize professional discretion. The fact that they took payments and pursued this tirade against a honest man making a living, goes to show that the police force is diluted and easily bought and not serving the people anymore. Those officers should all be fired and the people that approved the warrants and raid also removed from service.

    An Indiana judge signed off on the warrant because of a reciprocity agreement between the states and once signed, the warrant could be executed by any police agency from Indiana or California. The records were seized and copied so the California DA could see if the work claimed and parts paid for were actually shown. If the guy kept straight books, the charges should be dropped. This kind of thing happens all of the time, but if the subject were a violent felon instead of a business, the local police would have been tasked with enforcing the warrant.

I don't know but a lawyer told me you have to be married for at least 3 years for things like that to happen.... any less time than that if there's a divorce you both walk your own separate ways with your own stuff....they DO NOT have children together...

    This is a scam by the buyer. He misses a payment, get's moved to the back of the line and then get's mad. He's lucky. When I was designing custom yachts for Burger and Palmer Johnson, if you missed a process payment and failed to respond to a letter or email, your contract was closed and whatever you paid for you were given a choice of 10 days to remove from our property or we'd begin collection actions for storage fees. By the way, if it was a simple accounting error or misunderstanding, we'd always work with the client, we were building multimillion dollar yachts. In this case, this sounds like a "poor little rich man", who failed to make his payments on time and thinks the world revolves around him. This complaint certainly seem ridiculous and frivolous. All involved should have civil penalties and charges of misconduct in public office. I'm surprised Indiana has doorknobs like this.

    @destaccado

    "By the way, if it was a simple accounting error or misunderstanding, we'd always work with the client, we were building multimillion dollar yachts." You mean like when the company already has 170k and they're supposedly late on 20k for a project costing barely over 200k? In other words - your company has already covered all their costs and the only thing they're waiting on is some of their profit margin. Additionally they still have the product in-hand with multiple other orders to ship that exact product too? Comparing a licensed product to a one-off custom yacht is a bit of a stretch. Calling it a "scam by the buyer" is the statement of a fool. Good thing you designed the yachts instead of managing the business because if Palmer Johnson was ran this way (*spoiler alert* they're not) they wouldn't be in business long.

Although I'm a foreigner, I think that, apart from the federal agencies, any local agency of one side of the country would have to ask the local agency of the other side of the country, if they can assist with the warrant. But additionally I believe, that the warrant in this would have to be issued by the DA of the location of the shop, so you can't travel with a warrant across the country. I might be wrong, because, as I said, I'm a foreigner.

    As a retired DA investigator in Riverside, California I can tell you DDA's are sometimes liars. This was a civil dispute at best and not a criminal matter. The Sheriff's Department concocked just enough facts to get a Probable Cause warrant which afterward the DA refused to prosecute. The so called "Further Investigation" by the DDA revealed she did not want to touch this case with a ten foot pole. She read the case and dumped it period. Any seasoned investigator can see this. There was no diversion of funds or theft of funds, the guy was still working on the car until customer failed to send more money. As for the Sheriff's department, i hold the Sheriff responsible. What should be done? How about a law suit by the victim for false detention and violation of 4th amendment rights. Feel free to disagree with me. I spent 40 years in law enforcement.

The fact that they were waaaaay outside their jurisdiction and conducted this "raid" is a huge red flag. He should have immediately called local police and told them what was going on and had them come out. EDIT: Did a search online and found it is in fact illegal and a violation of state sovereignty according to the Supreme Court for a court in one state to issue a warrant for a search in another state. The warrant MUST be issued in the state the search is to be performed in to be valid. This sheriff had no legal standing to enter the property or act in a law enforcement capacity in another state.

    Reason is no longer taught or required in the US. Common sense is dead. People do whatever they can get away with. Heck, I've seen so many abuses by local government and LE it would astound you (I worked there) - like the US Sheriffs association having their annual meetings in Jamaica, and everyone that had a connection, no matter how small, to LE/law enforcement then spending tax $ to go to the meeting. It's a total joke how irresponsible the behavior can be. I personally was involved in a local project funded by fed $ of around $3M. We were just supposed to provide better tech tools for officers to put security video at likely crime sites like construction sites (no matter that there were already 3rd party commercial groups doing this). We wasted all the $, provided zero product, then spent more $ to create a documentary video to send to the feds that showed the system in action... when it was totally play acting and mock-ups. High ranking officials lied on camera about how effective it was. After seeing activities like that, I reached the point I could no longer work for local government and watch tax $ lit on fire every day. Your definition of "unbelievable" changes quickly when you see it on a regular basis.

    That's actually quite easy because that's nothing new for cops. If a crime has occurred in a certain place, a warrant can be ordered for a person's arrest within specific geographical regions. So let's say, if a crime happened in Indianapolis and a judge ordered the warrant serviceable anywhere east of the Mississippi (for whatever reason and can be done), then the original jurisdiction has the right to go after said person anywhere east of the Mississippi. So if that person is found in New york, the state with jurisdiction can choose to send its own officers, usually in collaboration with local officers, to execute the warrant. In this case though, this was definitely improper especially since California itself agreed that it had no jurisdiction in this case. This appears to be all civil without criminality.

    No state cooperates with each other all the time. As you can see they had the local Sheriff there with them when they executed the warrant.

    He was leaving office in January; so he thought; why not break the law; one last time. Glad he was voted out! He won’t be able to run. Make him pay back every dime!

    This news reminds me of my sweet Italy. It’s funny and sad at the same time how everyone is absolutely shocked by this raid.

    Using the law to bully people is NOT something we should ever condone. If anything, corruption must be fought at all times!

    No laws matter when corruption is allowed, it's the most harmful crime there is, because it destroys the entire premise of justice.

    Color of law aka the appearance of law...this a RICO CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION, deprivation of rights under color of authority. Now that it's falling they are going at everybody, now we can see the power of division amongst people in the same class, especially the color cast system, A house built on sand will not stand.

    @@djjoshplacid83 Murder isn't a crime anymore when you have corruption though, murderers go free because of corruption. Hitler didn't personally kill anyone, but he created a system to genocide people, is he not worse than someone who killed a single person directly just because he used bureaucracy to get it done?
