@@eddyraye5825 Gordon is a badass in his own right The problem is that Gordon turns a blind eye to vigilantism which in most situations is a crime itself. No authority, no jurisdiction… any and all instances could result in charges of assault, battery, false imprisonment charges… There are only a handful of people, even in Gotham that have the sheer wealth, access and fit the physical description of Batman In the Dark Knight graphic novel, it took Bane about 2 minutes to figure out exactly who Batman was, though Gordon can’t figure it out in 70 years despite having spent time regularly with both Bats and Bruce. Though it’s commonly believed that Gordon has actually known for a significant amount of time but sees the benefits as outweighing the negatives Which goes back to Gordon ~knowingly~ overlooking vigilantism, at least in part because he’s friends with the man behind the cowl, much like this guy is friends with the sheriffs brother and parlayed that into a favor The craziest thing is that in spite of all this nonsense the builder is still going to fulfill the contract even though the buyer missed a payment (which based on the contract pushed him to the end of the queue) but also even though he directly caused an unjustified and illegal raid. If anything would be allowed to terminate the contract, I’d think that this whole raid business would be it, yet he’s still going to fulfill the order… in 3 1/2 years… but it sounds like the delay is exclusively due to the acquisition of certain parts rather than any animosity toward the buyer

"Can you outline what went wrong?" Getting caught, that's what went wrong.
The question is why was everyone dancing around the topic. This was an illegal use of police, violating the law, as a favor to a friend of the Sheriff. It's a clear case of Deprivation of Rights under color of law (TITLE 18, U.S.C., SECTION 242) which they crossed state lines, with intent (because obviously San Mateo officers have no jurisdiction in Indiana). So @ABC7NewsBayArea - have you asked the US attorney for the area if they're prosecuting?
If you exclude all of the "NOs" given before they finally got their warrant, it is still abuse. But all the NOs they got first proves beyond a doubt that they KNEW what they were doing was wrong. Not that that wasn't already obvious but there is no way they can claim ignorance. But of course they will do nothing to the real criminals after spending all this time and money on the wild goose chase to punish/intimidate the guy that just wants to make Batmobiles.
All agencies involved should be held accountable and individuals need to repay all money lost for this shameful misuse of power. I just hope justice will be served.

@@jamesrawlins735 The car wasn't done, and he failed to keep up his end of the deal and make payments on time....his build got pushed further down the list behind paying customers. He will still get his car when it's finished, but his fuckery added at least another 18 or so months to the completion date.
You have to include Cass County as part of the problem. Attorneys charge $175 per hour in this small Indiana town and they despise the poor.

That's a good price for a lawyer. You should see what they charge elsewhere.
The sheriff's pension should be attached to recover the "stolen" funds.
That's not a conclusion. A conclusion would be every one involved in all of the crimes committed were to go to jail... Judges, prosecutor, the real estate agent, the sheriffs all of them need prison terms
" Holy Investigating Reporting Batman!" - Good job guys!
"Ensuring the appropriate expenditure of public funds should always be of the highest priority." That's exactly what civic-minded Adam West Batman would say!

It absolutely sounded like something Batman would say.👍

Not much can be done regarding the sherrif, but Sam Anagnostou of Compass Real Estate is a working real estate guy who relies on people buying from him. Surely there are ways to make sure potential customers know what kind of person they will be risking the most expensive thing that almost anyone buys in San Mateo County. He's the one that called his pal the sherriff to have a guy arrested over a civil issue.
Way to ruin your career and reputation over your pals midlife crisis mobile. ‘Mommy I want my bat mobile NOW!!!’
how about we take atherton and sort of just push it into the Pacific ocean

Thank you for the update. So glad local news brought this corruption of the local law enforcement to the public’s attention. The sheriff needs to be held accountable for misspending taxpayer money and so that future sheriffs don’t replicate his unlawful behavior.
Just watched a video on Lehto's Law about this whole deal the other day about the shop in Indiana licensed by DC to build replica Batmobiles and the buyer who claimed theft or not providing goods sold on the car. What honestly amazes me about the whole deal is that another states law enforcement agency went to Indiana to arrest and bring back the car shop's owner. Along with a long list of miscommunication and not getting all of the facts.
SMH! $55,000 for a retired judge to find out what all the rest of us already knew!
$55,000 for a report from a judge???! What?!?
There should be jail time and lost wages and pensions for these criminals.
Why aren't these people being federally charged if they crossed state lines to commit racketeering?
Those look like very cool cars. I wish I had one. Anyone who devotes his life to making Batmobiles has to be an honest man.
He should sue for damages and loss of income. Against the guy who called the sheriff and the sheriff himself for wrongful persecution. He is owed his $350,000 in lost income because of this
Seems that the cops need to be fired and charged with operating outside their jurisdiction.
One can only hope this affects the pension of the sheriff. 😡🤬
The irony of this is astounding
This was an excellent piece of journalism 👏
Not listed are two who refused to be interviewed, including the putative purchaser of the car.
With no disciplinary action this whole investigation with the retired judge was a waste of time.
So disappointed that not even one reporter said "na-na, na-na, na-na, na-na, Batman!"....
Thanks for posting.
$55 thousand for her report?? Did she submit it on gold leaf?
DA and Buyer needs to reimburse money to San Mateo for the expenses spend for travel and investigation costs. They should not be allowed to abuse the justice system.
