C5 Corvette How to Fix HUD Heads Up Display

Welcome to #whatsstockTV this is part 2 in the series taking apart the dash. Part 1 fixing the dim HVAC will be linked below. This time I'm removing the rest of the dash and fixing the fallen heads up display (HUD). This is a common issue with the c5 vetted and is an easy fix once the dash is off.

I followed your instructions to the letter and cruised right through the project with no issues. My heads up works perfect now with its new pivot screw. Great job on your video, Thanks for the help!

@@89imp03 Did the repair on Saturday, total time took about an hour and a half. Pays to have cordless tools as well. Only problem is when I was finished, the shift cable snapped, so there is another project I have to do. Oh well.

Anyway to change the color of the HUD, I was thinking of making it blue and if possible go even further and make the red line red etc. Any ideas on that

I don't know. That would be a cool addition, I haven't seen anyone try it yet

Not possible to change color. Display technology is VFD and the color is fixed by the phosphorus in the display tube.
Nice video, my display works but light has dimmed about 50%. Any thoughts?

Thanks. It'll be the same fix for that. If it's not unbearable I wouldn't rush into the fix
About how long did it take you from start to finish to replace the HUD.

I really don't remember. It was a couple hours total mainly due to taking that top dash piece out for the first time
