C10 4.5/6in Drop, Disc Brakes, Axle Swap, 22in GM Transport Wheels...BIG VIDEO!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

My '66 C10 gets the goodies, a 4.5/6in drop with drop spindles, drop blocks, and drop springs. I am adding larger disc brakes up front, 22in GM Transport Wheels, 5 lug to 6 lug swap, axle swap, and even add a new control arm. I essentially redid the entire suspension, between this and the LS swap, this old beater is starting to be a legit restomod. It didn't make it easy for me though! I had one issue after another on this job, but if you just keep at it, eventually you can get any job done! DON'T GIVE UP!!
Parts I used below, unfortunately none of this was sponsored, I paid full price for it all. Some of these links are affiliate links. Thank yall so much for watching!!

Hell of a video. Really shows that everything doesn't always go perfect. I like that kind of authenticity and transparency. Killer build nonetheless and looking forward to seeing it on the roads where it belongs!

Thanks bro! Was definitely a challenge with it fighting me at every step, but I am painting the wheels and truck this week, and I am so glad I stuck it out with the giant smoothies!

Good video Travis! It inspires others to show everyone goes through all the same struggles and issues on these projects! My opinion is do the c-notch and give it a lot more low!!! Honestly, those big wheels need a lot more low or go with smaller wheels if you don't want to slam it. I'm keeping mine 6 lug for all the reasons you have gone through. Ordered all my disk front stuff in 6 lug and now seeing your video I'm glad I did. Now that I've bought my 2nd c10 and my shop is pretty much where I want it, I think my project is really gonna move along and I already talked with my son today about hopefully being able to hit up some truck shows down your way next summer and meet you in person!

Thanks man! I figured that people needed to see that the struggle bus happens to every one and even if you know what your doing, that's no guarantee of a smooth job, all that matters is that you get it done lol! I think eventually I will get bigger drop blocks and springs. I want it eventually about 2-3in lower than it is now since I am doing a static drop and not bagging it. Funny enough the 22s are so massive that I still have 3.5 to 4 inches between the frame and axle as it sits, if I went to 20s or 18s I could see how it may need to be notched. Can't wait to see some vids on your c10 collection!

The front disc kit you have listed is that for 5 lug? But i noticed you are running 6 lug wheels?

Good catch, so that is the kit I bought, then when I decided to run the 6lug transports I picked up these from CI and swapped them in. www.classicindustries.com/product/1966/chevrolet/truck/parts/pb1091.html

Unfortunately you have to find them from some one, technically GM doesn't allow them to be sold. Best bet is the Facebook group "GM TRANSPORT WHEEL NATION" or Marketplace, always some floating around. Coy wheels sells some that are similar. Thank you for watching! Good Luck!
