I had the privilege to have listened to this performance live on TV in 1996 with my mom at home back in western China. My mom was cooking but she stopped to listen to this song. We didn't speak English but we were so touched. My mom turned up the volume to its maximum! Since then we both became her fans. Now my mother has passed away but each time this song brings me those precious memories, goose skin and tears. Thank you Celine!

Touched by your words. In my experience, my mama played a really important role since my dad always on business in my childhood. Now I am in HK, every year only several days could be spent with them. Sometimes I really do miss the days in my student time with my mom.

One of the great live performances of all time. Many people on KZread suggest it was lip synched (and many video posts of this performance aren't always looped the best, contributing to that perception). It was not. She was at the height of her vocal powers at the time and very comfortable with BIG expectations, and she delivered. You can hear the almost shout at the very end of her last note. If you saw it live in '96, there was no question. This is the best posted version. What a talent.

The Power of the Dream Céline Dion Deep within each heart There lies a magic spark That lights the fire of our imagination And since the dawn of man The strength of just "I can" Has brought together people of all nations There's nothing ordinary In the living of each day There's a special part Every one of us will play Feel the flame forever burn Teaching lessons we must learn To bring us closer to the power of the dream As the world gives us its best To stand apart from all the rest It is the power of the dream that brings us here Your mind will take you far The rest is just pure heart You'll find your fate is all your own creation And every boy and girl As they come into this world They bring the gift of hope and inspiration Feel the flame forever burn Teaching lessons we must learn To bring us closer to the power of the dream The world in lights and hope and peace We pray that you will always be It is the power of the dream that brings us here There's so much strength in all of us Every woman child and man It's the moment that you think you can't You'll discover that you can Feel the flame forever burn Teaching lessons we must learn (To bring us closer to) the power of the dream The world in lights and hope and peace (We'll pray that) it will always be It is the power of the dream that brings us here Feel the flame (forever burn) Teaching (lessons we must learn) (To bring us closer to) we've got to learn the power of the dream (The world in lights and hope and peace) We pray that it will always be (It is) the power of the dream that brings us To realize the power of the dream To realize the power of the dream
