Byrna Boost-Watch This Before You Buy!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

The Byrna Boost or the Byrna HD XL may not be worth purchasing! These add 1” in length and extra weight but does not offer a huge advantage. Personally I do not like to practice shooting below 250 FPS so for me the 12 gram C02 is not worth carrying a longer pistol!

Thank you for the comparison... In my experience, if you can't deter the person with your first magazine 5 or 7, it doesn't matter if you have the boost or not. I keep my day to day magazine loaded with 2 Kinetic rounds and then 3 Pepperball Max rounds. If they refuse to back off after the Kinetic rounds, they deserve the Chemical rounds.

@@tuckerdelay9656 I use the 5 round clip as the 7 round seems to be hit or miss with the chemical rounds cracking/breaking in the clip. Some people don't seem to have this issue and others do, but with the 5 round clip it doesn't seem to be an issue with anyone. I know Byrna changed the springs in the 7 round to fix this issue, but it's still being reported even with the new clips. How are you liking your launcher and what kind did you get?

@malefanematsie3890 yes precisely. The one downfall is that byrna does recommend that you use their specific cartridge because and this just my own assumption that the seal is slightly thinner making it more reliably fire, I used cross man cartridges and I can get rounds off rounds but occasionally you may have to pull the trigger twice I'm not sure why that is honestly

Omg the balls send over 450fps first few shots with those. The barrel smokes from the deep freeze. I believe they fill these differently then normal co2 cartridges. Was fun to try once anyhow for science. No longer less lethal at that point though 😂

I was within minutes of buying the Byrna SD from Amazon 2 days ago, but I backed out at the last minute. Everything seems great with it, but my biggest complaint with it, and always has been, is the FPS. I realize it's less lethal, but I always thought that the guys at Byrna could bring those FPS up a bit. I'd be much more comfortable if the FPS average was somewhere around 330FPS consistently. In your opinion, how do you feel about the FPS on your Byrna, or Byrnas in general?

I would really like a company to come out with a compact with the same piercing mechanism with 30 joules and 5 or 6 shot magazine. I do carry the Byrna with a combo of kinetic and OC rounds. It is compact and reliable but in my opinion under powered. The new Byrna LE is on order and hopefully have the promised power of 16 joules. For now Byrna is the only compact self piercing on the market so it is what I carry. Unfortunately until it is used for self defense you won’t know how effective it is!

Im thinkin if u already have the older version of brynas like ep, sd and add on boost, you wont get more fps but more shots without dropping in fps as quick, and if u buy the le gun with boost, they did a different valve or something that boost the first 3 shots in 400s before it drops to a consistent upper 200s before gas is out!

I think I remember reading that the purpose of the adapter is to be able to use the more readily available 12 oz. co2 cartridges and to have more shots per cartridge. Not more muzzle velocity or range. You should do a comparison of 8oz vs. 12oz cartridges. Just saying.
