Thats a really good tip... I also recommend if you're going to keep a clip of chemical rounds loaded, buy a magazine cover to keep it in so it doesnt accidentally release the chemical rounds in whatever place your storimg your rounds and Byrna. Last January when i contacted Byrna to see if I could get a Red/Orange plate for one of my magazines, they told me they discontinued them. Luckily there was one in my son's Byrna case so I stole it so I'd have a separate magizine that I could easily identify when theyre in their covers.

Definitely some great pointers here. I just bought the LE and will only be putting 6 in the mags instead of 7. One of the two mags will have first, a kinetic round, then 4 pepper/cs rounds and then topped off with a kinetic round. I will load the chemical rounds the way you instructed now though, because it makes a LOT of sense. The one mag I will always keep loaded that way for defense only and the second mag I will use for practice. Thanks for the great and informative video!

That is a good question! So far it’s been 5 months without a crack. I think most of the problem is loading and unloading from the magazine so I keep one mag dedicated and I softly insert in the launcher when reloading. The newer Max rounds are a different color and are shinier so I think Byrna may have changed the shell to not crack as easy.

The barrel slides all the way back and over the projectile and the extra ammo adds friction and also more pressure on the trigger and you also lose fps on your first shot. The manual also states not to load an extra projectile and over time it can wear on the internals.

As I understand it, they are legal to sell buy & possess in NYS, as long as you're outside of the 5 & Yonkers. However, as per the shipping restrictions... this leaves room for dumb, lazy gung ho tyrannous Oath breakers to jack you up! You sir have no idea what you are talking about and obviously do not own a Byrna! Byrna does NOT recommend pulling the spring down before loading because you cannot do it! (there are no spring tabs like on an FSC magazine). Let me read word for word straight from the manual: “Hold the magazine with the projectile retaining bar away from you. Insert the projectiles into the to opening of the magazine. Only slight pressure is required to push the projectiles past the projectile retainer bar.” Knowing your facts before typing is highly recommended if you don’t want to be schooled…

I was considering buying a couple of launchers until watching this video, moreover the acceptance and resignation to having this problem that many owner/commenters have made without HAMMERING BYRNA about it is astounding ...after all, these launchers are not $50 zip guns, as for me , I do not need the aggravation of having rounds crack while in storage .Your video, although helpful is not doing anybody any favors , in that it does not motivate Byrna to make the necessary modifications needed to the magazine, but mostly the chemical rounds to ensure that this condition does not occur . Because you are telling people with the problem to try this or that , which may or not work consistently BYRNA rakes in the dough and does nothing about it . The question rhetorical or suppositional is this ....what is the point of keeping a launcher loaded on the night stand or holster only to have it affect the owner as the rounds crack and ooze the irritants as opposed to staying intact for the scumbag who should be the recipient of the round? They look great, and features Blah Blah Blah ...but who has time to load a magazine in time to use it when the emergency comes up? As far as anybody is concerned BYRNA is on the hook to fix the problem , because, the alternatives to their products which even if priced higher are worth buying in Byrna`s stead because those alternatives do not have the issues of rounds leakage ,and are very much available.
