BYD sold more BEV’s than Tesla in the fourth quarter. They sold over 500k. If you look at the whole year, as you said, Tesla outsold BYD. But I prefer to look at it this way, Tesla and BYD, working together are continuing to take away ICE sales. They do not compete with each other now. They sell most of their cars at different price points.

Never look at one quarter as evidence of a companies performance. Even the Golden child has a bad day every now and again or look at it the other way even the dumbest person in the room can say something intelligent every now and again. That’s not the norm

@@MrLogan2600 maybe so…but this channel did the same as others, presented the data that supported their position. They did not report on how mainstream media determined that BYD outsold Tesla. The way this channel presented this was just as bad as mainstream media. Look, I agree with everything else. Tesla makes more per car. Tesla has far fewer employees, etc. but present the facts. Explain how the news media determined BYD outsold Tesla. Yes, I know Tesla will outsell BYD first quarter. Chinese are off two weeks? 😂😂😂

Great video guys. Yes, I've followed all this development in the BEV markets and even the NEV (New Energy Vehicle) markets, for 20 years. The support/subsidies provided by the Chinese Government for NEV's over the last 10 years was amazing and was responsible for establishing this current situation. However, the Govt stopped most of the subsidies to the "start-ups" at end 2022. Now the NEV's in China have to "sink or swim" on their own abilities. Many small ones have already failed. I think there were around 90 BEV and NEV new Car companies. BYD also made ICE vehicles up to March, 2022, that helped them get established as a Company. Remember, only TWO Car Companies in China actually make a profit on their BEV's: Tesla and BYD. (only hundreds of dollars per car for BEV's for BYD) For most, it is their hybrids that support them. The other car companies in China now have to ramp their productions to allow economies of scale and excellent manufactering methods, to impact their financials.

There is also a plug-in hybrid company, which China regards as a new energy source.Li auto,Listing in new york is also profitable, with an average unit price of about 400,000 RMB.

Nice breakdown. BYD did lead in a few metrics. Most spontaneously combusting vehicles including those busses and FOUR dealerships burned up. They also make some of the most dangerous hybrids as the batteries are the lowest component underneath the carriage.

Tesla and BYD are very different companies. Tesla is likely to eventually employ humanoid robot factory workers. BYD is not as this would harm employment goals supported by the Chinese government. I see Tesla and BYD becoming a BEV duopoly, similar to Coca Cola and PepsiCo, or Apple and Samsung. The brands that are actually most likely to be disrupted by BYD are Japanese economy ICE car manufacturers that depend on Western and emerging markets. These include Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mazda, Suzuki, and Daihatsu, South Korea's Hyundai/Kia is transitioning well to BEVs. However Hyundai/Kia are currently at a battery quality and supply disadvantage to both Tesla and BYD.

5:09 but BYD isn’t low quality. The BYD Seal, priced around the same as a model 3, has more horsepower than the Model 3 Highland. They’re good quality cars. This really seems like a desperate attempt to believe Tesla is still at the top

It seems to me the key reason media outlets have been writing that BYD has surpassed Tesla is that in Q4 they produced and sold more BEV (battery electric vehicles) than Tesla. Does it matter? I dont know. I'm just happy that as a result, less and less petrol car are being made and sold. 😊 But why not talk about thay in your video? It seems you are missing the point. That aside, i agree there is a lot of FUD...

This is a very poor analysis of BYD. Yes, Tesla is a much more profitable company, and has much higher profit for car and per employee, but BYD is going to keep beating Tesla in BEV production for every quarter and BYD has proven that it can scale up production and add new models much faster than Tesla, and BYD produces for every market segment, unlike Tesla. Tesla has 6 vehicle models, whereas BYD has 65 vehicle models (about half for the heavy duty vehicle market). BYD dominates the electric bus market worldwide. BYD only exported 10% of its light-vehicle production out of China in 2023, but it is gearing up for a lot of growth abroad. BYD is opening new light-vehicle factories in Hungary, Brazil and Mexico. BYD is now offering its vehicles in 70 countries, whereas Tesla sells in 45 countries, Tesla ignores Africa, Latin America (except Mexico) and most of Asia, whereas BYD is focusing on the developing world, where it will probably lock up a lot of markets because it has little competition. In places like Europe, Japan and Australia, BYD can compete at the lower-end of markets where it frankly doesn't have a lot of competition. Once BYD starts producing in Mexico, I think it will be set to start exporting to N. America, since it can bypass the tariffs. So far, BYD hasn't done well in Europe, partly because it is an unknown brand and partly because its prices were too high, but it looks likely that BYD can bring down its prices a lot in the future to compete in Europe and eventually it establish a track record to become a trusted brand, in the same way that the Japanese brands in the 1980s in the U.S. The big issue is that BYD has to take charge of its sales in other countries and not work through middle men that charge a high markup. Until now, BYD hasn't really focused on how to sell abroad, because it has such enormous growth in China, but when BYD cuts out the middle men in its overseas operations, I think that it is going to be a very strong competitor. The area were Tesla simply isn't serving the market is that it isn't focusing on the millions of people who just want a simple, economical EV, and that has huge opportunities for growth. To me, BYD looks like the next Toyota. If you travel anywhere in the developing world, you will see Toyotas everywhere, because Toyota focused on serving developing markets. The second issue is that BYD is focused on LFP and sodium ion batteries, which have much more potential for future growth than NMC. Telsa, in contrast, is focusing on producing custom NMC811 tabless 4680 for the high end of the market, but many of the new LFP variants (LMFP, CATL's M3P, Zeekr's Golden Battery, etc) have good enough energy density to compete with expensive NMC, and they are much faster charging and have longer cycle life than NMC. None of this is to say that Tesla is a bad investment, but my point is that BYD also isn't a bad investment, and it has a much lower market capitalization, so it is potentially a better place to invest, since the value of Tesla stock is already high. As you have pointed out, FSD, Robotaxis and Optimus robots have huge potential for growth, but it is very hard to determine how long it will take before they come to market, whereas I regard the future growth of BYD to be more certain. It doesn't have to invent any new tech, but simply replicate what it is already doing in China in other parts of the world. It may not be as profitable as Tesla per vehicle nor per employee, but it doesn't have to be in order to be successful.

U know tesla does not care about their workers and in sweden and norway there are strikes because of that. In my mind more workers is a good thing because more homes get money to take care their families. Not a single blade batteries has had problems, but teslas burn and has lots of other problems all the time. Parts like heat pumps break everyware and get replaced with used parts, even if u buy one as new.

U do aware the Sweden strike are not Tesla worker, those on strike are on sympathy strike. Out of 130 Tesla worker 13 on strike and the rest are actually telling media they don’t want union collective agreement. Majority don’t want the union agreement and yet they don’t have the freedom to choose because the union said that’s “our culture and tradition” so screw freedom.
