If BYD atto 3 can meet safety standards in Australia, New Zealand, Europe & Thailand, but cannot meet the safety standard in US, there is something wrong with US regulators, nothing wrong about BYD atto 3.

BYD's hybrid power system is currently the best in the world, even better than Japan's. In addition to BYD's blade battery, BYD manufactures all core automotive components in-house, including motors, engines, electronic control systems, batteries, and all core components. The parts are all made by ourselves, so the cost can be kept very low, which is very cost-effective.

I was gonna get a BYD Atto 3 here in Australia for 45K AUD (sale price, normally 52K). But I learnt that they sell the same vehicle, newer model Atto 3 (Yuan Plus in China) for 26K AUD. The markup is astronomical. You don't get what you pay for with these cheap Chinese vehicles. That said, it will be interesting to see their price for the Shark at the end of the year in Aus.

@weiwei8072 You don't understand my point. It's not just about the prices, it's about the quality of the car and its components. The Atto 3 price is around 15K USD to make in China where as Tesla Model Y cost around 30K USD. The Atto 3 are sold here from 30K USD. Model Y are sold here from 40K USD. So when an Australian consumer pays for the huge markup of the BYD versus Tesla, you don't get what you pay for.

I think the reason for the ICE connected to the wheels is for the towing. A pure electric drive towing up a hill for a long time requires a lot of electrical generation. The ram charger has a very large engine to cover this scenario but the shark with a small turbo engine pushing the vehicle for the extended heavy load with the assistance of the electric drive maybe the better option. I'm not sure how the Ram charges but if it has 2 electrical motors one of them will need to be a generator under high load. The shark in theroy could use ICE for driving and generating at the same time with the rear just driving when needed.

So all of a sudden China is able to produce high quality cars and trucks? I have serious doubts. Chinese rich people are turning to Yangwang by BYD and AITO by Huawei. Petrol cars are less than 40% in major cities. All BYD cars sold to Europe are just outdated version with at least 50% more expensive than China.

Key bridge, remember? Waterproof cars save lives, and EVs can be easily waterproof. The American military cannot resist the benefits of electric vehicles. Otherwise, the US soldiers will have to drive internal combustion vehicles to fight the Chinese driving EVs. The power is one reason, the small heat signature is two, easy waterproof is three, the small noise is four, and the small cost is five. The list goes on and on. Two things must be considered regarding a war between the US and China since they have already changed warfare: drones and electric vehicles. In these two areas, the US and China are close, and maybe China is slightly ahead of the US. For example, an electric tank is practically infrared stealth compared with an internal combustion tank. After all, the tank's engine is a huge heat source and a target. I am quite sure that the Chinese military will drive electric vehicles, if not already. Now, BYD makes cars in Mexico. The Mexican police will soon drive electric cars to chase criminals' multimillion-dollar sports cars. As a result, the drug dealers must also drive electric cars. So, military, police, and criminals are driving EVs, men must follow, and only left the old pussies want to drive an internal combustion vehicle.
