Interesting comments made in your show. However, I think you have missed the point why PHEV are actually becoming more popular, and it’s not the fact that people are worried about the unknown. Let’s take a look at the price point, its ability and the competition. Let’s take a family of four who the dad is the main driver who commutes 60-90km round trip to work. They have a small camper trailer and they like to go on some dirt tracks to get to these places. The dad has the option to have a novated lease at work and so can serious save some money due to the FBT allowances (until April next year). So here’s a car which won’t break the bank, is AWD, can tap into the solar power and go on long trips without any range anxiety. I have just described most Dad’s in Australia! This isn’t a transition to EV. It’s a reality of what can seriously tick all the family boxes, safe some coin and enjoy some superb acceleration to make him feel like he’s in a hot hatch. A serious contender in the auto market.

Good assessment for the market for these cars.

Maybe true for some, but it will still act as an EV transition as people will experience EV drive train and performance for the first time. By the time they replace it, 800km pure EV range will be a reality.

We have a model Y RWD and were looking to replace our Kia Sportage AWD diesel with BYD Sealion 6.
Don't forget the transportation, tax and dealerships costs, employees salary ect . Ask America to sell us that price,
My biggest concern with the EV, how long the battery warranty will last, and after the warranty finish, how much is the replacement costs,

8years is a long warrenty for the battery.

At 120 thousand km, I saw someone who received an offer of 17k dollars from Tesla for battery replacement. With a simple calculation, he already used 8 liters of petrol per 100 km. Not to mention the cost of electricity and the incredibly expensive tire cost. I don't think there is anything green about disposing of such a large battery. At the moment, EV car technology is completely far from its original purpose of being environmentally friendly. Not paying for fuel at all. Sounds like nothing more than self-deception.

@@BluePandaa284 The current Tesla warranty is 8years, 160000km, so clearly the average battery should last a lot longer than that.
Look up who made the first Hybrid
