    YT algorithm has really pulled through. Loving the videos and your approach to life. It's come at just right the time for me. Have binged the tiny house playlist. Shower vs bath: I'd go for the shower indoors but then try and make a hot tub outside. Shower will still look great with the flush flooring. And an outdoor hot tub, maybe rectangular inline with your idea of the outdoor pond. Sit back and watch your koi carp swimming around... haha keep sending it!

    Shower tray only for the tiny house. The Japanese style bath you are thinking about - you can do this at a higher value house next to a lake in Europe. Get this done. Have a base. Move on to more experimental things. Up to you obvs.

    Definitely do the bath if you can. It will be an amazing feature - reminds me of the thermal baths in Switzerland designed by Peter Zumthor, ona smaller scale. I'm sure you've planned ventilation taking into considering the skylights not opening. Love your videos thank you for sharing! I am planning to do the same: buy properties for £20-£30K plus have a tiny home too. 😊

    I'm planning on a roman bathtub. Basically rather than buying a tub, you build a low wall and tile it. Depending on the room size 1-3 of the walls become part of the bath the other sides being the low walls.

    Why give up your British passport? If you move, why not just deregister as a tax resident? I spend half the year in Switzerland (just under the 180 day cutoff) but chose to stay registered in the UK for the following reasons: The CHF is super strong right now, it's stronger than the USD and around the same as the euro which means if you don't work there the cost of living is very high. Health insurance - you need to pay it if you register or spend longer than 90 days at a time there and it isn't cheap. Wealth tax, it isn't much but you need to pay on foreign held wealth so if you'd planning on making millions this could add up. Paying taxes are super complex and annoying. There's dog tax, church tax, eigenmietwert (for owning a home outright), a bunch of different taxes. Paying tax as a self employed person in the UK is super easy. If you're going to buy a ruin you need to rent a spot in a bunker by law. All of this adds up. Interest rates are very low so you could get a better return in UK banks than Swiss ones. Above all a benefit of registering in the UK is the low mandatory fixed costs so if you choose to not work for an extended period of time you don't need to have an expensive health insurance looming over your head. Good luck with your decision! I enjoy following along

    You mentioned about the house for 23,000 euros and then referred back to UK house prices. what would the 23k house be worth when done up? We need to know what a good house is worth in that area. Also, funny you mentioned about sponsored ads, there is an ad on youtube about a plug in heater and the voice sounds just like yours - is it you? Concerned the step down bath idea might be slippery and too deep a step to make it safe, can imagine you going flying as you dont have your back foot to fall back on as you have bent that leg to step into the bath. Be interested to see you lay that flooring for the drive. I know the place where I worked was charged an absolute fortune to have it laid and then told not to allow vehicles over it as it marks it and could sink, so just for pedestrians.

    Don't do the bath, keep it simple - shower tray! Maybe put an outdoor spa pool in instead (the portable inflatable ones are good to start with). I'm also not a fan of flat roofs ultimately they always leak! I'd do a peak, put some guttering in and collect the rainwater!

Also given the osb is fairly close to the ground, is there a possibility that the osb could absorb ground water (e.g very wet soil, puddles,....) ? Love the videos you're making and best of luck on the tiny house. Cheers

    I think there is a healthy level of breeze in what he saying. But key thinks he has done, build and sell the house in London, start the tiny house build. Those are actually quantifiable, which is significantly more than most finance/lifestyle gurus. But yeah, a good few things he says are really half thought out. He also is a hard worker but he is leveraging a wealthy upbringing which is doesn’t reference as a key part of his success. That being said, I respect his work ethic.

    @@rob_m He may or may not have had a 'wealthy upbringing' (I have no idea), but there is nothing in his videos to suggest that he is 'leveraging' his upbringing. As far as I can tell, any money he has earned has been from his own efforts. Perhaps he doesn't reference his background, because it is not particularly relevant to his financial success (whereas serious scrimping and a lot of hard work are).

  • @rob_m

    @rob_m

    @@jonl8509 I did state clearly in my response that I appreciate his work ethic. Upbringing is crucial to outcomes, if you disagree in any way then you should really dive into that as a topic. Even knowing you can have a couple of shots at going it alone because you can leverage family connections or a family business is a privilege. Or even just the knowledge that you’ll never end up homeless is a privilege. Additionally, he hasn’t ever referenced how he came into possession of this land, we all know buildable land is incredibly expensive in the UK. Or how he came into possession of a Swiss passport. I’ll repeat it again, because you ignored it the first time, his work ethic is absolutely commendable.
