When I was a kid, my family might take a week to go through a stick of butter. My parents were from places where butter was not part of the historical cuisine. My mother watched cooking shows on TV to see how Westerners cooked and she was shocked by the liberal use of butter. But I think she would have agreed with you about being able to taste every single ingredient in the final dish, and that quality, fresh ingredients are essential. Anyway, watching your videos glorifying butter brings back fond memories of my mother making faces at the TV.

OMG! His face and voice saying "delicious" when describing a potential veggie burger at around 4:56...I bust out laughing. I feel the same, Chef J-P! It's okay if people don't like butter or beef....MORE FOR US! :D

I never knew it had a name. I just call it dinner when I make it. And I use any number of different compound butters such as sage or tarragon, thyme, or dill,…..

Hey chef, you ever try the martin potato buns? I just can't go back to any other type of burger bun after having them. They just so soft and taste way better than any other bun's I've had. I like to crisp the middle of the bun like how you did and not toast the outside of it. Soft on outside, crispy on the middle. I really wish you'd give them a shot for a burger, or even hotdog if you eat them. I think it will take your burger up another notch.

Chef JP you over did yourself with this Butter Burger. I just love how you prepared this recipe with butter, buttered onions, butter burger, butter garlic, butter buns. I'm in heaven. My goodness Chef Jean Pierre, that burger was so good that I woke up this morning at 4am for work thinking about it. I have never in my 53 years on earth had that flavor combination in my mouth, it was like tasting really good food for the first time, I am not joking it was that good. My wife made a nice salad, and we had a couple of ripe avocados on the side, sliced up with salt and pepper that I mashed up and put on top of the onion, and because of the sautéed onion and garlic, it was almost like I had put guacamole on it. JUST WOW Chef JP, that was on some other level of flavor, and a recipe I will never forget. I thank you, my family thanks you, you are the man!!!

I took a page from Chef JP’s playbook and made mashed potatoes with just potato, a stick and a half of butter and only a small splash of milk. Best potatoes I’ve ever had in my life! I also made a beautiful onion gravy to go along with it, you can’t beat it! He’s the best teacher anyone could ask for!

When I saw "butter" in the headline of the video, I immediately clicked on it! Not too hard to capture my attention. The garlic held it until the very end. Oh, and the humour tickled my funny bone, hahaha😅😂!

This style is like a classic I grew up on here in Chicago. It's called a "big baby" (not sure where that name originated) and features cheese and grilled onions, but lacks the butter. Just be sure to wear short sleeves and a bib!

I agree with the chef Jean-Pierre. It is one of the best burgers you can make. None of that nasty overbearing condiment crap. Onions, Butter, beef and bread. You need nothing else, as the simple is sometimes the best. Garlic is just another form of the onion and you can use whichever onions you like. 🍔 🍔 🍔 🍔 🍔

You don't have to soak it. Make it the way you like it. I make mine with butter toasted buns. Truly caramelized onions which takes a couple of hours and real American cheese (not that stuff you get wrapped in plastic) all cheese no hydrogenated oils. Try Kraft Deli Deluxe for one available nation wide.

@@Phattbouy There's been a better browning/ caramelizing method going around lately that works for a lot of things like bacon, mushrooms, and onions: Just add water. Ethan Chelbowski did a good video on testing the method with bacon, and I've seen another content creator do the same with mushrooms. Both had positive results. As for all three, including onions, there's this video by America's Test Kitchen that goes over it well enough. kzread.info/dash/bejne/pK6AkpmvZtqecaQ.html It should cut down your hours of caramelizing into only an hour or less depending on batch size.

@@samylemzaoui2298 There is! The best take cheddar and colby and pasteurize them with an emulsifying salt like sodium citrate. The end result is an excellent cheese that melts like a dream. Boar's Head is another nationally available brand. They have a white and a yellow, both are excellent. What you might want to avoid are things like Kraft Singles, which are a "processed cheese product" containing less than 50% actual cheese.
