But can I use it in a Song? Onward by Chase Bliss

Музыка

I was a bit skeptical by the Onward Pedal from Chase Bliss. Most of their pedals are COOL! BUT.. not that practical for my needs. The Onward pedal is a testament to that statement. It's very exploratory and helpful for artists wanting to explore new sonic territories, BUT I'm just trying to make some music with it.. And as you'll see, I end up changing my own mind mid video haha!

There definitely is, but this seems to be a bit more focused and controlled, whereas Microcosm can be hard to steer or dial into a specific desired effect. In all honesty this seems to do many of the things I love about the Microcosm, although Microcosm has a great performative looper as well.

FYI: Meris MIDI I/O sends MIDI Out via tip of TRS, but Chase Bliss pedals receive MIDI In on ring of TRS. From the manual for MIDI I/O: “For use with Chase Bliss pedals, you will need to create a custom cable, since they receive MIDI on the ring of the TRS cable (they currently do not transmit).” I recall having used some Hosa Y (insert?) adapters/cables (TRS to split TS) to swap tip with ring, in order to get MIDI into a Chase Bliss pedal.

I'd be happy to try the Chase Bliss pedals, but at 460€ (here in the EU), it has to be usable for more than just making a sample. What you seem to be achieving is easily doable in a DAW (plugin), why have a pedal sitting around? BTW, I don't know if you can get them stateside, but some of the Drolo pedals are very interesting (too). Great video(s) as always. I love your positive way of making music, and talking about it.

@@leftmono1016 Yes, I know what you mean, and I totally agree, I'm working on a eurorack system. But, sometimes GAS confuses us, and although I think the Chase Bliss pedals look (and sound) amazing, I'm not sure that buying one to get 'a' sound really makes sense. Many years back, I bought an Akai Remix 16 almost brand new from a studio in London, who'd used it to make 'one' sound for a commercial. They then put it in storage for 10 or 15 years, and then sold it to me for peanuts. I'll never know if they made loads of money from that one commercial, however, nowadays it's easier and cheaper just to use a plugin (which might even be free), to find your one sound (IMHO).

Bliss pedals are very deep and maybe you would want to take a few months before rushing out the review. I had a few "a-ha" moments with Thermae and Bloom, let alone Generation Loss (my favourite to date) a few months after I got the pedals. And, as for the MIDI, I am almost 100% certain your cables dont match up, meaning, TRS out of Meris is not appropriate to Chase MIDI.
