Business of HYPE: Tremaine Emory

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

"There are many challenges associated with the come up, but what Tremaine Emory (Founder, Denim Tears) has been through over the past few years is an entirely different story. From a lower aortic aneurysm to a controversial and extremely public departure from his role as Creative Director of Supreme - his near death experience brought unique lessons that are still applicable to even those who are just starting out.
On this episode, host Angelo Baque (Founder, Awake NY) and Tremaine discuss subduing the ego, trusting in your brand, and the moral responsibilities of being a storyteller.
This season of Business of HYPE is sponsored by Bulleit Frontier Whiskey.
BULLEIT BOURBON Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. 45% Alc/Vol. The Bulleit Distilling Co., Louisville, KY. Please Drink Responsibly. "

Bro what is he talking about talking about he's the best at talking about the African American experience???? maybe the best at talking about black trauma that we've all known about for years... But what black experience is he positively talking about? Stop it.

Yo, Mr. Baque, to be honest, I didn’t know shit about you or your brand before I started watching this and the Sage interview earlier (to be fair tho, I haven’t been too tapped into streetwear these last few years), but I just wanted to say you are genuinely one of the best interviewers ever that I’ve come across-seriously: you’re more eloquent than most in the game, you’re respectful af, allowing the interviewee to take as much time as they want to air out what they need to from the heart while never cutting them off either, the personal bond/relationship you have with the guests also makes the discussions feel so natural & familiar, and you yourself even add a lot into these convos with your insightfulness on just about all topics covered, both in fashion and the real world-it means a fuck ton that y’all don’t shy away from social, political, and systemic commentary, especially without being exploitative and remaining authentic in the process. Plus, u’re Latino tambien which is a huge +++++++. Anyways, I mainly prefaced all that to say whatever y’all have going with this series, plz keep it the way it is rn, and plsssss don’t let the inevitable surge in popularity change anything about it bc it’s most def already one of the best things to come out of the journalistic interview (journalism in general) and even podcast realms. Ironically, here I thought Hypebeast was a product of its past (hadn’t peeped into it these last couple of years too) lmao Manifesting continued success for you and your folks, brother. 🙏

4:08 basquiat was in rap lyrics before contemporary rappers were using his name in songs, that’s why Tre was lookin at him crazy when he said that lol I hate when non black ppl talk about our culture (rap, and streetwear, which was called urban wear because specifically black ppl were wearing it, it got called streetwear so white ppl and non black ppl could be apart of it)

There’s alot of error in your comment. Black and brown people built this culture my friend. Whether you view it as urban wear, streetwear, Hip Hop whatever it was built off of the backs of Black and Brown people. Sounds like alot of projection in your comment.
