Taking coaches out of it, Cam isn't exactly speaking the full truth here. For one he announced he was transferring before Florida even played Oklahoma so that was well before Tebow said he was coming back. Second he pretty heavily downplayed the trouble he had at Florida. There was no mention of the multiple academic cheating issues that were getting harder for the team to cover up. He also would have played at exactly the same time had he just stayed at Florida. With having to sit out in '09 at Blinn he would have been the starter at UF in '10 just like he was at Auburn. Hard to argue with the outcome since that 2010 year was legendary.

Urban didn't bury Cam Newton. Cam Newton buried himself. He admits how immature he was during his time at UF - remember he was kicked off the team for stealing from a teammate. Urban made it clear from his first day at UF that he wanted his QB to be the leader of the team. Leadership requires maturity and discipline; that's why Chris Leak and Tebow were the starting QB's under him. Cam didn't get to that point until after his JUCO days and he admits it in this interview.

In the end, Cam broke the contract anyway by thieving his teammates multiple times and getting dismissed from the team.

Cam ain’t never lied! Anyone who had the chance to watch that team practice KNOWS how crazy talented and competitive those players were. Many Gators fans won’t admit it. But, losing Cam ended the potential Alabama type dynasty for Florida. Tebow was definitely a great leader for that team. But, anyone with 20/20 vision could see that Cam should be the starter by his sophomore year. Unfortunately Tebow’s stranglehold on the UF fans was never going to allow Cam to beat him out. On Netflix there is a 3 or 4 part series titled "The Swamp." Well worth the watch.
I have gained so much respect for Cam Newton since he has started doing his podcast and seeing this one, and I have a totally different perspective about him today. He was given a raw deal with the "all negative, all the time" national attention between leaving Florida, going to Blinn, to then enrolling and playing at Auburn. Even with an open mind and admiring his unbelievable athletic ability, I still had an opinion that was somewhat negative due to the constant "talk" about the how, what and why of his journey. There was nothing in anything he ever has done that I can point to in order to vilify him, yet I had those thoughts and gained them from the national media. AND the thing that sucks the most is that I fell for it even though I know for a fact, often people who are not nice at all, have great reputations and people who are the nicest and most caring people you can find have horrible things said about them in the media.
I live 45 min from brenham!!! Cam was a beast that year!!! I implore yall to watch his highlights from that year. He was a man amoungst boys!
Cam was a man among boys in 2010. Cam could do everything Tebow could do, and he threw a better football.

Cam Newton was better than Tebow and it ain’t close
Cam Newton looks like Andre 5000, but bigger.
Great content!
Cam is such an interesting and intelligent personality. I have really enjoyed his venture into media/podcasting.
Those florida gator teams were a joy to watch running up the score on everybody 👏
Cam looks like the modern day Dr. Seuss!
Lots of clarity from this interview.
Urban lied to get a star backup. That's f'd up. However no way he was starting over Tebow

Why? He could throw and run better.

@@dallasborn8574 Because Urban favored Tebow and Tebow was doing a good job already. So from Urban's point of view why would he replace him with Cam?

@@dallasborn8574cope boy. 50 years from now when cam has died of aids ain’t no one even gonna remember Andre 200 Interceptions.
Shout out to Brenham TX I was there right before Cam went there alot of Talent came from Blinn Mike Bishop got 2 rings from there.
As a Bama fan you right!! That year will never be topped.
Cam Tebow Burrow are 3 ELITE college QB’s definitely UP THERE on mount Rushmore of all time qb’s
Cam be dressing like the nutcracker nowdays
As a Florida alum this hurts so much
I remember selling Cam some funky hats at this luxury store in Beverly Hills right when he was coming up. Nobody was rocking the hats before Cam. Some did cuz they were rockstars but they usually had a John Varvatos vibe, Cam was on that Mad Hatter vibe.
My respect for this man grows more and more as time goes on and he finds his voice to tell his story - but also as he matures as a person. For mere mortal men it is hard to shake the ego loose and be the bigger man.. Cam is no mere mortal. The dude is a 1%er. And yet he has learned to humble himself whilst NEVER apologising for being great. Bro...
As someone who was in that Gator locker room, Cam is definitely right! Swamp Kings was good but they left A WHOLE LOTTA stuff out! Coach Strong could DEFINITELY fill in some gaps in the stories lol.
