😊 I think if you did the bacon first and then set aside, you'll find that you won't need butter and your eggs will taste much better as they take nearly as long to cook. Pro tip: starting the bacon in a cold pan will help render more fat out which will help cook it and you can pour off some for later.

I was going to make the same comment. Even though I thought the eggs would be completely burned by the time Andrew finished cooking the bacon, it didn't look too bad.😊

Do you know what makes an AWESOME tinder bag? A paper flour bag. Their shape enables them to stand upright; they are ASTONISHINGLY durable. I can never decide whether I want a 2.5kg size or 1kg - the 1kg size folds so small you can hardly see it! So I have 2 in my kit. Don't put your collected tinder in a plastic bag - it makes it sweat. Use a paper flour bag.

T Y Susan! Please keep on commenting. I imagine that a cloth bag would make a longer-lasting Clementine homemade dress? I am a big fan of home-made bread made with whole wheat flour combined with white bread flour. Honey cornbread crumbled and soaked in milk makes a terrific dessert..

I love when you cook in these videos, even if its a quick 2 minute part of the video. Its relaxing and enjoyable to watch, even a basic meal!
Cook the bacon first then put the eggs in too cook. Save the bacon grease for a later meal. I carry a 2oz.jar for that purpose a pimento jar it has a good sealing lid. I've used all jars for mean mean years. I've even use 8oz. Mushroom jars. I will make a pouch like yours but one will have pockets inside for my small jars. Have the jars on hand for canned extra foods up and always have honey bacon fat, powdered milk and flour too make biscuits or dumplings for fried rabbit or squirrels.
Been building and cooking over campfire since I was 12 . Back in the 60's.
You are the most educational, entertaining, and to the point! I'm so glad I found your channel. Thank you for all you bring us
Made mine out of an empty pistachio bag. Just sewed a hem into the top and added a drawstring.

I never miss a video, and I LOVED this one! Great tip on cleaning cookware with dirt and water, who knew🤔. 👍🏽💪🏽🤘🏽
The first time I heard the term 'dity bag' was from an older friend of mine who had been in the Navy in WWII. He talked about the dity bag he used in the Navy. I thought at first he meant 'duty bag' or something but looked it up and found it was basically a type of possibles pouch. He may have been the only person I ever heard use the term 'dity bag' until now and if not then certainly one of a very few. That friend passed several years ago. Thanks for bringing back a good memory as well as providing useful knowledge.
Good video Andrew. Yeah you need to get busy with the cooking videos. It's a new journey bro take us with you.
I agree that it could be VERY soon that many of us may out of necessity be cooking our meals over an open fire, and possibly even having to adopt a nomadic lifestyle. It would surely "behoove" us to learn those skills now before we actually need them to survive.
For cooking, root crops (onions, carrots, potatoes etc.) are easy to carry and long lasting in your pack. I always take at least salt, pepper and garlic for spices. Butter is great for wintertime but, as you know, will melt in warm weather and may go rancid. Try some type of cooking oil, olive oil, peanut oil, vegetable oil and such. Good video, as always.

Try clarified butter it will still liquefy in hot climates, but will not go rancid like unclarified butter. Additionally, clarified butter has a much higher smoke point.

I couldn’t cook to save my life when I got out of the military either. You’ve got a lot to learn but someday you’ll make someone a great wife. Thanks for the videos, it’s my Sunday morning routine.
Bacon , eggs , coffee , survival gear .. you covered all my fav 's. The case trapper was a nice addition to the mix as well. Thank you , Happy Holidays to you guys.

I am a knife freak and I dearly love the case trapper. I have two of them. One is older and blades worn down some. I keep in one of my quick go bag kits and it has held it’s razor sharp edge like a minute man missile ready to go. I can grab this small kit and have all the elements of survival at my fingertips. All put together quality items packed in a cheap ozark trails fanny pack I got at walmart like 10 or so tears back. Case are among my favorite blades for sure.

Welcome to bushcraft cooking with Andrew # nice ring to it # another great video 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
Nice!
Always very Inoformative and detailed specifically nicely done.
Outstanding video once again. Thank you Ranger. I'm glad your on our side!🇺🇲💯
It's DITTY bag Andrew.....👍
One of these days, Andrew, I hope to sit down to a cup of cowboy coffee with you 😊
I really enjoy your videos. You stay focused on the topic, probably goes with your job! I grew up in the Boy Scouts and my buddy and I always did the cooking. He went on to cooking school and became a pro chef. I still do the camp cooking even though my wife is an excellent cook. I highly recommend Kephart’s camp cookbook hands down. It would bring something to this community that would be very interesting. Being from Bradford Pa I’m glad to see Case knives finally getting recognition.
Andrew, sweet video 📹. Tinder bags are important!! Keep up the awesome work 👌 😊
Another amazing , down and dirty video!!! Thanks Bro!!!
Chef Andrew gourmet 👌🏽
Excellent Tip on Cooking Beans then dehydrating them.
Cool basics vid! Never heard of a mill bag? before, that's handy! Some quick cooking tips from another horrible chef: That's a ton of butter. The bacon fat is enough to keep the eggs from sticking to the pan. That's bc the bacon is going to take a few more minutes to cook than the eggs. Start the bacon until the bacon fat builds up a bit, crack your eggs in and boom you're golden.
Great ideas some new ones big thanks Andrew ps happy cristmass in advance
Something easy to cook in the woods is beans and rice. They can be brought out dry and don't go bad. You just need a pot and some water.

If you have a dehydrator, cook the beans, dehydrate them and pack them. It takes just 10 min to rehydrate them in boiling water. Saves fuel and time in the field.
You need a spatula, wooden or plastic. When you fool around with a frying pan it helps. Wood ash in the grease makes soap. Maybe you could learn how to make Red eye gravy with grease, bit of flour and coffee.
Every video I view from Andy, I regard it as part of the school, college and university of Bushcraft survival. Thanks, Andrew.
Cooking out side over a fire is awesome
Really enjoyed seeing the leather ditty bags and how they are used for different purposes. Loved seeing a fire piston in your kit.....hardly ever hear of them, let alone see them in someone's kit. Very educational video and most appreciated!
So Good - laugh - i'm not a good cook - so funny - that was the best bit....... great job!
Fantastic! All of the other cooking in the field videos never show the after cooking and maintenance of the kit. This is the first time I saw anyone demonstrate this task. Great work.
Good video Andrew , thanks for sharing YAH bless !
Wish u would do more overnight or two day survival shows thanks for the update
Thx for the video. Very much appreciated. I am always curious to see some new stuff from you! 👍🏻✌🏻
Another good video. I don’t cary much leather. It gets wet, takes a long time to dry, and anything in it is liable to corrode and get moldy. Thanks for the great info.
Really good Vid sir it is something different Way thangs are going thres days wee all have train an keep up with the time GOD Bless keep UR head down
Your content is always great. But you just murdered those eggs, you savage!
Ok, I’m smelling this video as I watch it. Well, technically, I’m smelling my morning pot of Deer Camp coffee and the smoked meat my wife is cooking for a pot of pinto beans. P.S. learned outdoor cooking as a kid and it came in very handy during my military service. It was great catching grayling and frying them up while training in Alaska. No place to make a fast food run there. And the team appreciated my turning MREs, potatoes, and onions into a hot stew during cold weather training at Ft. McCoy. Heat and serve, and freeze dried food, has taken a lot of the fun out of field living. Hell, you could get pretty creative with MCIs and a fire, or Sven 123.

I love cooking over a open fire
Alternatively, you can bake the potatoes in the coals, While you cook the bacon. Set it aside, in a warm pot, while you finish the other steps, and then bring it all together. But I do like when everything works out, In one pot. Might take a bit of practice to get the timing down, And YMMV, to each their own, some like a hard boiled egg, some like a runny sunny fried egg. Some like very crispy bacon, Great video. Thanks.
Reminds me of my grandmother's sawing kit. 😌
Cooking over/with fire is a crucial skill. I often recommend it as an introductory outdoorsman skill as it can open the door to other skills. Why cooking? Because people like to eat. From there sleeping outdoors to wake and make breakfast is an easier transition. Sleeping outdoors is shelter craft from tents to tarps to constructing leanto or debris shelters. Cooking can be a gateway to hunting and gathering of wild edibles. As well as fishing and trapping.
Great video. I prefer my eggs a little less well done but would gladly join you for breakfast and a coffee. Maybe use your plastic bags to save the cooled bacon grease for the next meal. Thanks for sharing.

Great video!!!!!!
Excellent video but then I'd expect nothing less. Always a good gear selection. LOVE that Pathfinder skillet but wow you couldn't pick a worse cooking experiment than stainless steel on a fire 😂😂😂. Stainless is great but it has its quirks, temperature control being critical. If we ever go camping, I'll cook, you clean 🤣🤣🤣.
Thanks Andrew
Andrew, even though I am ex-military and have camped/hiked for years, you are still my go-to guy for all outdoor knowledge and tips! I have to admit had never heard of a millbag before; will have to research that. Great video but cook the bacon first, as others suggested ;-)
When I'm not packing the weight. I prefer a small cast iron frying pan or dutch oven. With a DO you can cook everything like a home stove. And I picked up a lidded copper bush pot. My daughter gave me a cook book titled ' How to boil water'.
Another fun and practical video! Yours are the best. Your comment about our future needs gives one pause. I hope it doesn’t come to pass.
Love it!

There's a gazillion free empty medicine bottles everywhere to put a couple of tablespoons each of salt and pepper from your larger container at home, and the small plastic containers of store brand garlic powder are usually 99cents and are already packaged in about the right size bottle. You can also fix a small bottle with a couple of ounces of olive oil to carry, and can be used for oiling tools or firearms or as lamp oil. If some leaks out onto your clothing or gear, it easily washes off and won't contaminate things like a petroleum oil will Thanks for the video

Interesting things those dity bags. You may not have fixed bacon and eggs before, but I've seen you clean and cook rabbit and fish! That counts!
Great show sir. Good ideas with the ditty bags…just seen them before with one purpose, but enjoyed the additional creativity. I’d eat your cooking! Thanks. Df
Sir u have plenty of videos on kits u have done and even have shown so many kits and how to make them But now change something take a challenge for example Catch and cook with limited tools u have like just a pocket knife and a lighter and rest u improvise from the surroundings And even like escape and evision like how to survive without any tools and u improvise your surroundings for the survival And like if u have lost somewhere in remote place and no map or compass for navigation and if u don't have any water container how u can improvise a normal plastic bags or the surroundings for water and for food By this way u will have some different content and even we get to learn something new in every video 🇮🇳🙏🕉️🙏🇮🇳
I like the different camp cooking stuff. I know that's usually corporals corner's schtick but i enjoyed it still. Maybe make a full series on bushcraft/camp recipes? Might be a good way to learn more yourself.
My parents taught me how to cook when I was very young. I'm an army brat so my dad taught me how to use the old g.i. mess kit for cooking way back when I was a cub scout. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've used it thru the years as I was growing up.
Thank you so much I really value your opinion your ideas and your properly👍 teachings you are definitely the me main man @I go to to see how to survive so I can. placing the skillet upside down on the fire will burn everything, then just wipe it out. and as everyone has said, cook the bacon first. just before the bacon is done, then throw in the eggs. you could carve yourself a spatula too. great video
