Building Workshop Tool Storage (PART 2: Workshop Build)
Ойын-сауық
I continue with the workshop build. This time I focus on more wall storage for tools like bushcraft axes, woodworking chisels and gauges and an area for leatherwork and woodwork. Then, I start getting gear organised in heavy duty boxes with labels ready to be stored underneath the new workbench.

Old coffee tins with the plastic lids are great for putting nails screws staples in
If you find you have too many drill bits, I’d suggest get a block of wood and drill holes with each of your drill bits. Then you can simple place the drill bits in and put stickers with the size next to them. Hope that made sense 😂. Amazing workshop!!!
One word of advice: you want moisture controlling devices inside the box/totes with all of your fabric camping gear. I suggest the rechargable pads used in humidors. I have family that use them in their gun safes, even though we live in a semi arid area of Texas. Ask a cigar shop for what's available. The fatal disease for fabric camping gear is moisture, and we all know England is humid. Your historic canvas tent is especially vulnerable to this; I have a similar tent and was warned to store it dry.
For the big plastic containers, have you thought about maybe putting felt or teflon slides/pads on the bottom? Might make sliding them in and out easier and maybe stop them from scratching the wood shelf up.
Hi Mike, just discovered your channel, and im liking what im seeing, only one thing missing from your workshop..... a good vice, every workshop needs a vice to hold things that your working on or fixing. Apart from that your good to go. Also a stool.
How's the dog? We haven't seen him in a while. Also, that shop is shaping up rather nicely. Good work!

Thanks! He’s doing good. He tends to stay at home with the family more these days as he’s a lazy bugger 😂
Thank you , Mike . 🐺 Loupis Canis .
I like your organisation, I need to finish doing similar in our cellar
i garuantee mikes wife, is the biggest fan of these types of builds/improvments.
Always good to see how another guy sets up their workshop. Thanks as always for sharing your work!
Nice "Dad" workshop setup to get away and relax 👍
How lovely and satisfying, brilliant job Mike! My son is studying carpentry and I will have to send him this as a workshop goal, I would love it if I could create a space like this for him to tinker and learn the trade. 😊

Thanks for the comment! I hope he enjoys the video 👍🏻
Hi Mike. I noticed a good amount of outlets or power on the walls. I was thinking for area's tougher to connect to power if it would work if you had an overhead box on the ceiling. I was curious if we'd see more of the bunker as well?
This is the best Man-cave I have ever seen!
Watch the old mitts if you put anything under those chisels Mike , me I would have had them closer to the wall . The tote boxes are great I keep all my fishing and camping stuff in them too
Hola querido Mike, saludos desde Argentina❤
I love this and the fact that you are going out and not getting the most expensive stuff to do it with is great to see. Love to see more content like this Mike keep up the good work take care
Its really coming alone nicely Mike. Hope your have screw box for trusty rusty! You could use different colour boxes or stickers for different items. Red for fire, green for camping stuff etc. Do you store anything in the shelter?
My experience of storing sleeping bags, quilts, insulated jackets, inflatable mats, (especially those with insulation) is to store loosely and not compressed. if compressed for a long period they seem to loose their loft. Large areas of my wardrobe are taken up with hanging my sleep kit and winter outdoor clothing,
I really like the new channel

A skylight would be great...
Now I'm getting jealous. The shop and organizers are looking great!
Great video! Shop is looking great! I have a similar set up with boxes for my gear, one thing I would add is Silica packs like you’d find in shoe boxes and what not. I found them on Amazon and put 1-4 packs per box depending on the size. It just ensures any moisture is absorbed in the boxes.
Great video. I really like how you integrated tool and outdoor gear storage. What you have finished all looks so organized now.
Great episode as always. Looking forward to the final result !
looks great !!!!!!! those boxes could also make great vehicle camping boxe
Looking amazing Mike well done 👏🏻👏🏻
Greatly appreciate the information and inspiration for my own mess of tools and random equipment. Thank you for sharing. 🙏🌏🕊🌻🐝

Great job. Makes me want to go and sort out my workshop! :) Cheers
Knife collection next
Nice job Mike, are you going to have some sort of dust extraction in there 😉
Looking good mate, thanx for the video, have recently done this to my garage, turned it into a workshop, I like the storage box idea, I'm nicking that! I have metal racks and they are a mess, the 45L boxes you mention would fit my racks ideally, so I've just ordered a few. Keep up the vids, looking forward to the next instalment. What about damp? I have a couple of moisture traps in my garage. they seem to catch a lot of moisture in the winter, so they do work. Cheers 8-)

Thanks! Glad you like the vids. The workshop is fully insulated but I’m still looking into best ways to keep things as dry as possible. Out of interest what are you using?

Great video, can I ask where did you get the black boxes and peg board from?
Gooseneck lamp for that corner.

Looks fantastic, Mike. Seeing as the main workbench is so deep, have you considered some shelving on the bench top, back against the wall? Maybe on a drawer track to pull it forward for loading/retrieving. Or a deep dowel holder for tent poles, hiking sticks, etc. Also, am I missing it or isn't there a door to the outside in your shop?

Cheers! The only door in and out of the workshop is through the garage.

@@LifeofMikeOfficial Thanks for the reply. Looking forward to the next installment. Interesting and entertaining, as is the woodland series. Building the little town is my all-time favorite, though. And your dad is a hoot, so anything that has you two in it is a win in my book.
👍👍👍
I have the same storage boxes. I labeled mine in a similar manor but I found they peel off over time and dont seem to stick properly

That’s odd, I’ve had some of these boxes for a year now with the labels and they stick fine. Might be the type of labels you’re using?

@@LifeofMikeOfficial Maybe. They are pretty good boxes anyway. As you say noy expensive but still robust enough

try getting a Tipex pen and just write directly on the box. I used that on some outdoor storage bins and it's lasted years.
Off topic but Can i ask what kind of watch you are wearing? Thanks!
Love those black boxes where did you get them cheers 😊
