Building the HRW Showdown Chassis Kit from Slot Car Corner... the Jake Dyke Special!
Ойын-сауық
When I was a kid, I had the chance to hang out in a garage down thee street from my Grandparent's. It is where i fell in love with race cars. A local dirt track legend, Jake Dyke was kind enough to allow me, my brother and my cousins to hang out and watch he and his friends work on his Late Model dirt car. I really looked up to Jake and we loved going to the Atomic Speedway to cheer him on! I thougt it would be fun to build the @SlotCarCorner @Homeracingworld Showdown Chassis kit that @SlotCarNewsOfficial sent me and create the Jake Dyke Special!
This is an update on the chassis build, my thoughts on the kit and some action on the track.

I'm 70 and getting back into the hobby. I enjoyed it as a kid. No local tracks down here in southern Texas so I'm going to build my own. I really enjoyed your video!! Thanks

Best of luck!! Enjoy the build process! Thanks!
I bet that is a real thrill to have something you built from scratch race around your track. Well done!

Thanks man!! Yes, pretty cool!
Excellent work Marty!! Congratulations on your first scratch build!!! It drives straight and stays in the slot, that's a WIN☑️. Now you have the fever!! The only cure... is more "scratch-built" cowbell!!! If it ain't pretty, it better be fast.... If it ain't fast, chrome it. Stay Slotted 🐷🤙🏼

Well done! It looks really nice so far and I can't wait to see how the front end turns out. Thank you for another Saturday Morning Two Lines Slot Cars.

Yes, more will get finished this weekend.
Great job for your first time. Jake would be proud. Atomic is my favorite dirt track in Ohio. I hope you can come up and race with us at The Cave that Mike Shanks owns and run some NSR's with us

He sent me an email earlier on the week! We will have to plan to come up! Thanks!
Great job Marty, scratch building is another aspect of the hobby makes it exciting. I am 95% analog racing and best part is tunning. A simple turn of the screw can make a crappy running car run awesome. Keep it up Marty. Car looks great

Congrats on your first build. I felt the same way watching my cougar run laps on my track, it is very satisfying as you said.

Thanks Danny! It is a solid 5.6-5.8 on my layout.. and lives in the slot.. so I can’t complain.. now if I can finished the details 😂
I think I'll be making one sometime in the spring. I'm still assembling a set of tools to be able to do so. [pegboard, pins....setup block etc...]

Hi Marty. Well done Brother. Don`t feel embaraced for too much solder. You are a beginner in this and shouldn`t be too bad on yourself. Next time, let the solder do its thing and give a little less. It will find its way by itself, than add some more to it. If you get desoldering-braid, it will help to remove the solder. But it has an advantage though, means you don`t really need to put extra-weight in it. 🙂 In terms of the ride, it is fishtailing. If you would try foam rubber tires, it might sticks better to the track. True them and smear a bit of body-lotion all around the tires and let it soak in for a moment. After two rounds that should give it way more grip to the track! ;-)

Very cool Marty! Im in the learning stage right now watching videos. My 1/25th kit will be here Monday. Building a 68 Chevelle, not for the proxy. This one is for my eyes only. 😬🙈😂. Is there a video of someone running your car at the proxy race?

No, this is a Snap Tite model I bought on eBay.
I have a question about your new track layout. When you started the project I thought you said the track was going to be analog and still be able to race digtal were you able to do that?
@twolinesslotcars

Richard.. the layout is both digital and analog.👍
