    21:54 and yes this was an absolute nightmare to mask.......Greatest understatement of the video.....a staggering job of masking!!! Brilliant end result. Superb video Rob. Regards Garry

    Thank you Garry, I'm glad you liked it 🙂 It really wasn't that hard, I just had to cut very thin lengths of Tamiya tape and try a few times on a few of the corners. It's very hard to rip off a piece of tape and start all over again after you have struggled with it for 10 minutes. But as I always say, it's a very long time wrong, so best to take the time at the start. Would have been a shame to have damaged the red at the silver stage!

    Outstanding end result of a white kit, I only wish I had half of your skill in painting.

    I wish I had the skills and the patience 😅. I’ve only ever used aerosols and almost always put too much paint on in one go rather than build up coats.

    @@roymarsh8291 With the right paint, you can even negate "patience". Good paint with strong pigments cover well and don't need many layers. An airbrush also puts down thinner coats of finer paint.

    Lovely build Rob, and those Group2 Revos are ideally suited to Crow Valley too, I've been waiting to see how well one would do on your track and that's super impressive :)

    She does go well Dave, and as you say, the size fits CV very well. Still didn't want to push to the absolute limit though. 6.74 X 7 = 47.18 sec. So there is a 46 in her if some paint were traded and a finer tune!

    Hello from Salem Oregon, I recently found your channel and I'm very impressed with your skills!!! Would love to see a video on your film equipment, but mostly some recommendation on Air brush and tips on paint & prep. Also is the track you show, your only track? Thanks in Advance. Best Regards, Jack

    Hello Jackgabbert, I'm very glad you like my channel 🙂. My tools are really nothing special, they are just small home workshop machines used for home model engineering. I really only have a lather and milling machine, the rest are just what we all have in our sheds. It was only the other day I was thinking of doing a whole video showing my masking, paint, air brush, compressor and spray booth. There is a lot of information I can give on these matters that would help a beginner get a huge head start. I WILL make that video very soon. Thank you 🙂

    @@SwiftSlotsI second the request. I am new to this hobby and it has been a bit cumbersome to figure out what I need to get started. What paint to use (acrylics or laquers), specially if I want to run these cars at home. And yes, also bought a track set (that is still in the box) as part of this journey... Thank you for the videos!!

    @@Wachuko-1 Hello Wachuko, All I have is a lathe, milling machine and a range of basic modelling tools, you an see them all in my videos. All you need to get started a nice set of screw drivers and allen keys to fit your cars ( .9mm 1.3mm 1.5mm). I have just done a whole video on painting in responce to the above question. kzread.info/dash/bejne/pJd1rtV8kZDecaQ.html

    Really enjoyed the build and your finish detail is amazing. A question on the panel gaps, would a darker red work better as more of a shadow line than the harsh black line?

  • @SwiftSlots

    @SwiftSlots

    8 ай бұрын

    You can buy other colours of the Tamiya panel liner, I just used the black as that's what I had. There are a couple of browns in their range, they would give a more subtle shade.
