I have to say, there are a lot of people stacking rocks on youtube. But this guy actually knows HOW to do it. Solid technique, watching gave me several idea's of my own as well as some inspiration. Need to find a way to pull "combustible air" to the firebox. Just need an air channel that comes from outside the domicile. This will make the fire burn clean and keep the smoke out of the sleeping area. I'm excited to see your updates.

  • @yesterdayds

My guess is that it allows fresh air flow through the bunker. A lot of the "primitive" channels out there that build underground bunkers don't allow much air flow, which would lead to smoke and co2 to filling the bunker and would kill the occupant. These open windows are probably there for air safety.

1:15:05 If you would invert the metal pail and set it over the loaf you'll make an impromptu oven. You can adjust heat by placing bits of different diameter branches or small stones under the pail's rim lifting it to allow cooler air in. Give it a try and see if it bakes your bread more thoroughly without becoming dry and hard outside while being under done inside. You can also place a damp cloth inside to provide extra humidity to prevent over drying the bread, if needed.
