Building Our DIY Barn Doors On A BUDGET + OUR DIY WALL | LilyArdor

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

How we built our own barn doors on a budget and our DIY wall in our living room. These modern barn doors gave our living room a complete transformation! I'm so in love with how they turned out! I can't wait to decorate the rest of the living room. Hope this video inspires you to create 😄! Happy Independence day :) !

    WOW - that was truly fantastic!! To have the confidence to put in that wall, is incredible. Thank you for sharing, I am hoping to make cupboard doors that slide like these, so I will save this video, for when my kitchen is finished. Well done guys, and little guy!!

    Hi Lily, First, I want to say thank you for your info. I was looking for a DIY project to build a barn door/divider for my nephew large living room. There are so many posted and most of them require tool and extra help, finally I found yours, it so simple, easy to understand, i can do it by myself with tools i have, and most of all within my budget. I will start it this weekend and will proudly share it with friends and family. Once, thank you much Lily. it's so helpful, I love it. Please continue to post and share with us your next DIY projects. ;=)

    THANK YOU! Built my doors this weekend! So grateful for your simple plans! Price of lumber is up! This entire project was about $650, still way less than ordering it!

    I loved the entire project. The barn door construction was of interest to me because I was looking for ideas on how to create doors (I am using plexiglass instead).job well done.

    In the case of temporary exhibition halls or temporary stores, floor runners or studs are sometimes fixed with only silicon. One or two screw pieces on the left and right sides of the door may be sufficient. Cement Stucco paint that feels like exposed concrete will also help reduce the budget. Putty, tape, and sanding are all be able to omit, and it's good for a tight schedule because it finishes well with just using finishing trowel on the board directly. And I envy that big garage.^^

    Thanks for all the tips :) Oh yeh we thought about using a trowel but we decided to save money and work with what we had on hand :) I'm sure it would of been much faster with the trowel.

    This looks Great!! I'm new to building, I don't see any bracket on the bottom.. So does the door move back and forth with no problems? Does the brackets up top keep in place well?

  • @RyanONeill86
    @RyanONeill862 жыл бұрын

    So a common door is 1.5-1.75" thick, this would be less than an inch it seems with the frame you built out and used. You were able to use hardware for the hanging brackets that allowed for you to use that width?

    For a first time effort by a homeowner, this job turned out pretty good. So good on you for the successful result. I was wondering about what appears to be an angle at the top of doorway opening. Was there a reason for not making the opening square? I didn't hear it on the video.

    Could I use glass in place of wood for the panels? Also what do you think about dowel joints in place of pocket holes?

  • @diylilyardor3435

    @diylilyardor3435

    3 жыл бұрын

    Sure :D I think that would look great. I think dowel joints would take much longer because you'd need to perfectly drill all the holes even and it would be harder to get all the pieces to be perfectly flush with one another. Not an expert but I think The pocket holes might be easier to control when securing all the pieces together.

    Pro tip, you can use a grout sponge with a bucket of water instead of sanding. No need to spend the money on the dust control stuff.

I’ve been dying to put sliding barn doors between my living and dining room but it’s way too expensive. I’m going to show my husband this he’s really handy like your husband. Can you tell me where you got the hinges from to connect to the doors to make them slide?

    It’s an old house the floor wasn’t built level and the ceiling slants which explains why it looks crooked. We did the best we could to make it square.
