Sliding barn doors add great character to any room, and when you have the space, they do wonders to accentuate a bedroom closet. I recently replaced the closet doors in my daughter's bedroom with these closet doors made form cheap pine lumber, plywood and hardware purchased on Amazon. If you'd like to add a dramatic look to a room with a rather simple woodworking project, take a look at the build video below - step-by-step instructions are on Gadgets and Grain: bit.ly/3467gQ8

Wow the editing and filming is so impressive. I love the little instructions written on tape or on the wood. Super cute and pleasant to watch!
My father was a handy man, I miss him so much. I know he would be down to do this project with me.

Same here. I miss mine so much!
kids are so cute, you are a great dad.
Great job! You are brilliant.
Uhg and I love that it's two doors that open to a full view of the closet!! So good yall!
This is one of the best edited videos I have ever seen! You convey so much info with camera frame and written word that it’s a pleasure to watch. Please get into major motion pictures, haha
I liked this video for involving your children in this project, that made me more personal to this video, great thing Mr.go ahead we want more videos like this
Your family is blessed to have a handy papa!
Love the vibe of this straight-to-the-point video with the music and all! Thank you so much for the inspo!
Definitely cut the groove before assembling. But the absolute best part of this video is your daughter at the end😊❤
Wow you just gave a great Idea on how to put up a barn door for my daughters apartment. Thank you and great job.
Great work. Groove in bottom... Measure out pre assembly cut into pre install. Attache to door frame with groove already made. Circel saw or router. Also wet paper towels under all drilling collects dust.

Thank you! Seeing him on top of a ladder using a circular saw mostly above his chest made me so nervous! I wonder if just a plunge router would also work for the groove?

For sure danger! Always better to work on a smaller more manageable piece at grade level than risk adjustments with heavy ones while elevated. All considered... Well executed! As for the end blooper... Danger!!! Lucky no fall on little one. Always secure while staging. Literally anything can happen. Wind. Kid. Dog. Ground hog avoiding bird of prey lol... Anything
Im going to start building a barn door for my daughters play room and this helped a lot! thank you!
Amazing job you did for your daughter! You are a master carpenter!
Cut that groove with the table saw before assembly, or cut the groove with a small trim router and a guide if already assembled.

Clément Charlebois I agree. A small trim router and slot cutting bit. Easy.
Ty for sharing, learned a lot . What a precious young lady.
Great video, love the kids. I’ve been using the roller wheel floor guides, just because I don’t like cutting the groove in the bottom
I would do that groove at the bottom of the door on the tabe saw as you did for the plywood panel. I would cut the groove out on the precut frame (lower piece) prior to assembling the door.
it,s hard to do everything alone. more power to you. OMG, you're daughter is so cute
Great info and great pace in the video. I will add... I put the grove in after and I forget to remove the screw... I was building a door for a TV cabinet with barn doors... needless to say my blade was not happy....
Great video and the doors are beautiful! Your kids are blessed to have you:)!
You’re amazing! This is awesome! Thank you for your workmanship all around, superb!
Love them. Great job!
Father of the year 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
If you leave the door trim on it helps close the side gaps - works well. Good job tho ❤️👌🏽
Brilliant build keeping both sides the same. Many doors only have the decorative bracing on one side.
I really like the style of shooting/instruction.
So well produced! Great vid!
Great job and great tutorial. I will be using this for sure. Thanks.
Very nicely filmed. Great job. Use a router for the groove. But doesn’t matter if you can get the job done. Groove is in the heart!
Looks Amazing...Well Done!
Woodwork + Details 👏🏻
Great idea, great video! I’m getting ready to do just this
Nice video the ending was perfect because some jobs are not without an accident or two 👍🤣
I love how you showed all the details. You have answered all our questions. Great music and helpers too. Thanks
Thank for sharing loved especially working with the kids God Bless
Such a good video. Perfect
Great job! looks so good.
Well done. I’m fairly handy, but your level of clean work is quite helpful. I’m hanging my doors today! Wish me luck

Thanks so much! 😊
Great work! I love this KZread Channel!
Nice work!!
You did a really good job there buddy. 👍
Excellent workmanship. Great video demonstration. With respect to making the grooves for the door to slide on the bottom, I would suggest to groove them when you have cut your two vertical and one horizontal rails before you glue the panels, just saying. Hope that makes sense
Looks good.
Great job. Kids are so cute!
I love your tutorials, so informative with the details!!! Thank you! I'm a new fan!
Great job
Great job 👍
great video brother .. .very informative .. , love the ending !!!
Awesome job...
Well done
You do nice work.
Great job dad!
GREAT video by the way! I’d love to do this but don’t have the tools. Circular saw is about all I have. The end of your video would be my WHOLE video 😂😂
Great video
nice job
Aye bro that lil ring door clip was too hard lol
Looks good!! I plan on building me some here pretty soon!
Suggest you assembly the door frame and then slide the plywood panels into the frame before installing the last rail.
Great video...
Your door turned out great! My wife wants me to build a Barn door between my bedroom and Master Bath. This will be my first time building one. I been watching so many videos trying to decide the best but easy way to make one. I do like the fact that your door has the two frames on both side. How thick did your door turned out to be?
awsome video!!
Very nice
Great work dad
For the slot in the bottom of the door- lay door flat on bench and use a slot cutting bit in a router.
I really love the idea!We are in the process of renovating and I wanted to incorporate that in our design but a pantry though. You think 4 ft deep × 7ft long enough for double barn door? Please advice, thank you!
Router works well
Great job. Love the wall color. If you don't mind what is that wall color?
Come to Miami! I wish I could do this
Hi nice video. Can you advise if the new Trim can be flush mounted to the jamb? Or is it better to have a few mm offset reveal. Why isn’t it normally ever done flush? Is it so there’s a recess for the gap filler?
Very nicely done. What was the size of your top casing board?
Nice!!!
Nice Tutorial, suggestion : Cut the grooves before assembly, much easier to manage and handle, the ladder collapse could be avoided that way..
i dont have a table saw. is there any way to cut the grooves with just a circular saw? would you recommend i buy a certain kreg jig product for that?
nice door
I I'm going to do a barn door in that goes into my bathroom and we are going to use a regular door with no holes in it and hang it like a barn door
I have that same toolbox
Thank you . Your videos are awesome
As far as the groove on the bottom of the doors, why didn't you make them with the table saw when you were making the cuts for the panels?
First MASHAALLAH Second Your work is so good that I don't have words, you make so many fantastic things out of wood 🪵 incredible that I can't say. MASHAALLAH
Hello. I thoroughly enjoyed your tutorial. My question to you is in your opinion do you think I could use the current sliding closet doors for a sliding barn door? The are those orange brownish hollow doors. Or, do you think I should use the doors as French doors, instead? I’m trying to keep costs down and use what I have. Thank you.

All you need is a wood shop and ten thousand dollars worth of woodworking tools at your fingertips and you should be able to salvage your free doors……1,2,3!
GREAT VIDEO, DEMO AND SIMPLE BUT VITAL EXPLANATION. THANK YOU VERY MUCH !!!!!! QUESTION......DEPENDING ON WHAT SPACING IS REQUIRED ON THE TOP WHEN INSTALLING THE RAIL. LETS SAY IT CAN BE BETWEEN 1 3/8 -1 3/4 BUT THE THICKNESS OF THE DOOR IS ONLY 1 1/4 ....CAN YOU JUST RUN A BOARD ON THE TOP (BACKSIDE) WITH A THICKNESS THAT WOULD FALL IN THE REQUIRED RANGE. ??? THANK YOU AGAIN
@GadgetsandGrain

That should work. Good luck!
I was so surprised that the door didn't knock over the ladders ... then i saw the outtakes 🤣
ooooo nice video, following
Use the table saw on your bottom board before you put it on the door frame. for the slot
Cut the groove for the guide on the table saw before u assemble the whole door. Be a little safer than standing on a ladder with a skill saw.
ARE YOU PLANNING TO VISIT PUERTO RICO ANYTIME SOON?
Couldn't you make a jig and use a router with a thin deep bit to do the bottom groove?
Router with slot cutting bit
Great job 👏 👍
Nice job, but you scared me on that tall ladder!
What kind of kreg jig is that?
Uses a router to cut the groove and when you hang a American flag the stars are on the left ,not right. But great video.
Why didn’t you grove the bottom panel before assembling the door?
