Definitely. Better control and stability with the longer wheelbase

How necessary is it to run the side engine covers? I was hoping to run without them when I get my kit in.

Not necessary at all. We just put them back on because we prefer that look. That said, it does also protect the wiring and battery from water and debris. Still plenty of people run it without the side covers. Just preference
