Building My KTM 200 to Race Silver Kings Hard Enduro

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Welcome to episode 2 of my KTM 200 build series! I made the decision to register for Silver Kings Hard Enduro in the A class with the intention of riding this KTM 200. In this episode we take care of the frame, tear down the suspension, install a seat cover, and give the engine some love.

    Awesome! I own a 2016 ktm 200 myself and its absolutely beautiful. A racer myself I must admit that an old ktm250 or 300 will always be a little more capable but man this 200 is so much fun. Basically feels like a mx125 but with lots more torque and i wouldnt trade it for anything

    That gen KTM 200 is hard to beat. I’m an average (155lb) rider and I enter the woods top 5 on dead engine starts against modern bikes in the 250 class. No E-start, but it kickstarts so reliably and quick and the torque is incredible. Mtn bike feel through the woods..lock in and flow. It’s a very competitive bike. You just don’t get tired.

    As far as the PV setting. Look up the 'Langston setting', Running near it offers more torque earlier in the rpm's. Linear PB. I've also found the STIC Super X carb is the only thing that makes substantial Tq right off idle, as in unstoppable lug factor. My 200SX doesn't require wheel spin to make great trail power. Each gear also pulls harder and farther by a significant amount.

    A little torching, tooth brush, and grinding can work magic on crusty old parts. Man +1. Metal 0. Nice job on that 200! My favorite KTM model for sure. Wish they still made one.

    Now you know why the stock KTM tool kit contained the "beer opener" It actually a torque wrench adapter. Came in stock tool kits. Most wondered what it was, but just used it as a bottle opener. Just put it at a 90 degree to the wrench. It just happens to work for opening beer. The closed wrench part goes on the cylinder bolts. Also Motion pro makes an adapter. I have one in the tool box. Also, for the power valve stuff before prime a scotch brite pad or easy off for a while... then scotch brite pad. defiantly an easier thing with prime.

I know that’s something I would enter in being that I have an old 07 kx450, just worth the try seeing if you read this and if you do thanks for the thought.

    200's have a really bad cylinder/case matching at the transfer ports. There's always a knarly ledge. A little epoxy and dremel action is the ticket for response and more power throughout the powerband.

  • @layneford4262
    @layneford42624 ай бұрын

    Best engine improvements for this bike are hands down going to be putting vforce reeds and intake boot from an sx 150/125 (stock boyesan reeds are very restrictive in comparison) That alone really wakes the 200 up, if you want even more torque and power overall they really respond well to shaving the head (I took .30 thousandths off my head and had some porting done, with all the mods listed it is noticeably more powerful in all areas) They shouldn't have discontinued the 200, one of my favorite displacements!

  • @layneford4262

    Also, a rekluse torquedrive clutch pack will really help to put the power to the ground better and you will love the softer lever pull and consistent feel especially when you're beating on it in that race!

    Love the vids and the builds but this one to me is just weird. Horrible riding bike with unfixable geometry. Still excited to watch every vid on it just can’t shake the feeling of knowing you’re putting lipstick on a pig

    I have thoroughly enjoyed riding this bike; I wouldn't be doing this project if I wasn't starting with a platform I know I like. To each their own! Appreciate the support regardless
