    Hey man, just for future reference the material used for skate rails and a lot of similar applications is Delrin, it’s a super slippery plastic and works great for things like this

    This is pretty badass. I just recently got my first ever full sized bike last year. A 2012 KTM 200 XC-W. I LOVE the bike so much haha. I put a full new plastics kit on it as well as a new graphics kit and seat. The bike came in pretty good condition so I didn't have to do all that you're doing, but eventually I'm sure I'll have to. I'm glad you went with the 2014+ front end. I think the 17+ plastics definitely look the best. You're making it very hard for me to resist not riding right now in the snow! lol

    Have you looked into coat-it? It's an epoxy style coating, has a part A and part B. But is meant for the bottom of drift boats and slides over rocks in the river. You could just paint the plate with that

    Nice build and have had a couple of 200's over time including a 2016 currently. I'm sure your suspension tuner is all over it, but just be aware that there are a few geometry/trail/offset changes that you have done with your front end swap. AER forks are normally 950mm length. The Open Chambers you took off will most likely be 940mm, so you now likely have an extra 10mm in your fork length (easily accounted for by sliding forks up in the clamps). Second is the fork lug offset - the AER has 2mm less offset than your old OC's (often referred to as small axle lugs vs large axle lugs and why you needed a different front axle). You can catch that back with your triple clamp offset (i.e small axle lug with a 22mm offset clamp = large axle lug with a 20mm clamp) so worth checking what offset the old cast clamps were and what your new billet clamps are (the offset is normally the last two numbers in the part # stamped on the clamps). Of course, not everything has to be stock length/offset etc, but if you know what has changed vs stock, it will help you dial in that front end when it is all together.

    Just a comment to the welding portion (I’m only 2:37 into the video) That estimated time to fix that is a hard no lol. That’s maybe a 30 min fix for the subframe, including setup and cleanup. The cast swing arm is not hard either just requires a fair amount of prep. I weld cast cases in my shop pretty frequently, you have to clean the part ridiculously well, then bake it to bring all the oils to the surface and clean again. I like to do this process two or three times before starting the weld on cast.

    How different does the bike ride/ handle with the foam tubes rather from the air tubes in the tires? I’ve thought about getting some but don’t know pros/cons if there are any (besides not getting flats)

  • @KincadePavich

    @KincadePavich

    4 ай бұрын

    In general bike has much better traction with mousses. They feel like a lower PSI than you would run in your tubes, and allow the tire to conform to rocks and obstacles better. There is a bit of a "dead" feel since they don't rebound like a tube; some guys like that, some don't. Overall the pros all seriously outweigh any cons in my opinion. They're awesome.
