    I LOVE this video! It is by FAR the most explanatory video I have found (and using the best quality projects) for projects like this where we want to completely wow the neighborhood. It’s next level!

    Thanks a bunch for sharing! I run several projectors in the Pacific Northwest... so Halloween night is a hit or miss for weather. I have been looking at building something.... but this is a solution that I had not thought of. Thanks again for taking the time to share! Great video.

    Thank you so much for this video. I was looking for an IP55 case special for beamers but too much expensive. For the moment I'm projecting indoor on a translucide plastic on the window and it amazing (thanks AtmosFX). Next year trying to do it with those singing pumpkins (love the Adams Family song). And you're correct: those 9"U can be found on the net for less than 100€. Still just looking WHERE to put the pumpkins and where beamer would be safe (not getting legs...). Eventhough, THANK YOU and have a happy halloween from Belgium.

    Thank you so much for sharing this video!! This is a going to be huge for us this Halloween. We usually project to a window from inside but this year we want to get a clearer picture so we are going to brave the outdoor elements! Thank you for sharing where you located the materials, this will save us significant time. I also like how you hid the speakers too! Thank you for all the time and effort you put into this video. Amazing!!

    Thankyou for all the info. Im in Australia Halloweens not that big here slowly growing but i do all atmosfx stuff and theres not a big market for outdoor projection unless your a commercial company or running an event. Trying to find a cheap alternative for projector box was hard i was even looking at freestanding letterboxes. This is heaps better also the hay bale idea is good i just get real ones which deteriorate too quick. Your a legend thankyou so much. Xmas easter n Halloween will be heaps better now.

    Great ideas for camouflage and security. I see that you use the turnbuckle top, but what exactly is the in ground bolt you are using? Can you provide a link or a picture? Thanks!

  • @postbeam8200

    @postbeam8200

    Hi! So the ground bolt is just the other side of the turnbuckle buried deep in concrete. I just buried it into the concrete and left a little bit of the 6" long turnbuckle poking out the surface to allow the other bolt shown in the video to screw into. I dug a post hole about 12" deep. I suspended my turnbuckle with the bolt screwed in over the hole using a stick though the eye bolt. This kept it in position and kept concrete out of the threads. I then filled the hole with one bag (40 pounds) of ready-mix post setting concrete. Then I removed the turnbuckle top you see me put through the projector enclosure and all that is left in the concrete is the top of the long center bolt buried. Even though the concrete only weighs 40-50 pounds the force of the earth anchoring it in makes it basically unmovable. Kinda like the sword in the stone. Good Luck and Happy Halloween :)

    You can use a hole saw blade that attaches to your drill. Just remember that the bit you get has to specify that it will also work on metal and not just wood. Hope it helps!😊

    Awesome, I have been doing the same for the last few years and everyone seems to really enjoy it. I have just used a bale of straw and an old wooden crate in the past but need something weatherproof that can stay out longer. I think I may be borrowing some of your concepts. Another question I have since I see you have that larger inflatable pumpkin. I have a large yard and I was thinking about getting 3 of the larger inflatable pumpkins and turning out the lights inside them and projecting onto them for an easier to see display. What are your thoughts on that? Do you think it would display well on the inflatable?

  • @postbeam8200

    @postbeam8200

    Before this I was also using a small crate and some ghillie camouflage with a bunch of fall leaves in it and you couldn't see it. A few years ago on Halloween I was a few blocks away watching our little one trick-or-treat when it started raining. I ran 4 blocks in less than 2 min to rescue my projector from the rain! Thats when I decided to build this. Using the 6U server rack made this easy, just a lot of covering openings with waterproof tape. And then adding the fans to keep everything cool. Not very hard really. Making the fake hay bale is probably the most work since you're starting from scratch. I have defiantly thought about using larger pumpkins. I think mine are a wee bit small. The large inflatable pumpkin is lit up internally with 3 light bulbs, I am not sure if that would mess up the projection effect. Plus it is 9ft tall so you would need to project from a long distance 30ft or so and you would need 2 more pumpkins. If I was doing that I would split up the video into 3 parts (left, center, right) and set up 3 short throw projectors in front of each mega sized inflatable pumpkin. Then you could arrange them better and not have to worry about capturing all of them in one projection image. I personally think I will try using 12-20" foam pumpkins for my display next year, that would improve visibility. But maybe I will try the mega pumpkins someday if I find an office sale on used short throw conference room projectors. Good luck!

    @@postbeam8200 Good point on the throw distance, that may make things difficult for some areas. I might still have the room for it though in my yard. I just wonder about using the inflatable but turning out the lights if possible and then in the case of yours you would have to use the other side without a face if that is even an option based on zippers and blower. I don’t know if it would be worth the effort involved for 3 projectors as that would be a pain, could just go with the single face, but the trio is my favorite because of the faces they make at each other during the skits. I will subscribe and keep an eye out if you post another one with larger pumpkins for next year. Thanks for posting the enclosure video. It looks great and appears to be doing a good job at keeping things dry and just as importantly seems to be keeping the projector cool with the fan setup. Nice work!

    @@postbeam8200 Since you are using a high lumen projector, does the square outline of the projector light not show up on anything other than the pumpkins? I have a 3500 lumen projector and you can see the projector light behind the pumpkins on the wall and even on the boxes that the pumpkins are sitting on. So, was just curious about your set-up at night.

    How are you powering the fans?

  • @postbeam8200

    @postbeam8200

    2 жыл бұрын

    The fans come with a USB connector to power them and a USB Charger plug so you just connect it to the extension cord that powers everything including the projector. The fans also have a USB cord that you can plug in additional fans so one fan can power the next and on and on. So all 4 fans (2 on each side) are using just one USB charging plug and from there are just powered in series.

    Thank you! That is exactly why I made it, I couldn't find anything either! I am happy to report that I brought in my projector today (Nov 1) and it worked great after 31 days outside in multiple rainstorms. A little bit dusty, but nothing a bit of compressed air duster couldn't remove. Now it's all packed away 'til next October.
