Car guy here, you used way too much hardener. The recommended amount of hardener on the can is for like cool weather. In 100* cali sun you need to use like 2 dots of hardener for it to have a decent working time.

Thank you, needed this. I also thought without enough hardner it wouldn’t dry.

@@ZackDowdy Try to use something other than wood to mix stuff on too since it can leech stuff out and make your mixing unbalanced.

@@ZackDowdy ^ he’s right!! and it helps to mix small batches. Better to mix 4 batches and get them all down in time that waste half of it in one shot.

Hey Zack, Thanks for the continued teaching and inspiration. After 2 years of on and off (mostly off) DIY work, my very own backyard concrete miniramp is close to being complete. I never could have imagined how much mental and physical work it takes to build DIY concrete features. I've felt overwhelmed at times after seemingly endless days of lifting 80lb bags of concrete into and out of my sedan, spending more than I planned each time, schlepping the bags around, hiding them from the rain, and then mixing bag after bag... And after all that I've barely made a dent, however, I avoided all my life responsibilities and now I have to tend to them! Your DIY and documentation work kept me motivated when it felt impossible. It's been a childhood dream of mine to have a miniramp. I just wanted thank you for your part in making it come true. Yours truly, Steven Reddick

Preamble: You've inspired me to start working on a spot... I thought I'd looked hard enough in the past but somehow found and awesome ditch I've missed for 10 years.... only a couple of minutes from my house 🤦‍♂️ Question: Do you share your spots? If so how? Apps? I'm thinking I'd like to find a way for the right kind of skater to find this spot. Couple of ideas I've had so far are some sort of symbol that would hint at a secret spot nearby? Or maybe some skate stickers, 'Have you seen him' stickers with little arrows for example? The other thought was some sort of ground graffiti that might some day end up in an aerial image of the are... saying something like "Animal Chin was here" (I figure anyone who's familiar with Animal Chin or similarly dated skate references by this stage is deep enough in skating to respect the spot.)

I am helping out my local skatepark also by building some extra stuff, so i find this really great. I have an idea for a obstacle/addition to your skate park. I built a little box to grind by building by laying bricks 50cm apart and then fill it with concrete then adding angle iron to the corners and leave it to dry. hope to see more

Yo dude. Those ripped bags are a steal. Lowes will provided quick Crete paper bag to hold them for less spill. Another thing you can do it cop construction trash bags and put the bags in there and all you have to do is when you get to the spot is put the water in the bag and mix by moving the bag back and forth. Crk. Good luck homie.

It isn’t that you used too much hardener, it’s that you are mixing too much at once. It is meant to be mixed in small batches so that you use it before it hardens, then you mix more.

It's not the Bondo's fault Dowdy. You just added too much hardner. It will eventually dry without it, it just takes a lot longer. I used to do body work. Bigger the job, less hardner. Keep up the awesome work!

They’re called a diamond blades, or in the case of a grinder, diamond cut-off wheels or masonry cut-off wheels. You can also buy a diamond blade for your circular saw. More convenient and does a better job than the little grinder wheels in my opinion. Then there’s the option of renting/borrowing a gas powered concrete saw. Definitely the way to go if you have an arse-load of cuts to make.
