    Great project. The only thing I would of added is Steel Wool in the catch can before welding it up. The steel wool catches the oil vapor out of the air where it then condenses and drains down to the bottom. If you have accesive drips from the hoses then I'd cut the top off and add some steel or brass wool.

    For more clearance on the valve cover you could use a 90° AN -12 to NTP fitting or a 90°AN -12 union fitting. You could also use MS fittings in place of the AN. Aeroquip should have what you need.

    @@Cumminslife I dont suspect you will for years to come unless the motor is quite loose. I use scrubbies stuffed in cheap cans on turbo gas motors. Usually we gap rings and of course that produces some blow by. I have a catch can on my 24v as well, different reason though, wisconsin weather is all around the dew points in the winter and moisture can get out of hand.

    What valve cover is that? A Hellman or custom made?

  • @mylesswann530
    @mylesswann5304 жыл бұрын

    With the stock CCV canister, on the valve cover couldn't you just pop of the large vent line and mill out the opening vent that feeds from the valve cover for a better breathing unit? If your worried about sealing the system completely you could just get a large enough hose fitting something stubby and put a one way valve on it so moisture doesn't get inside or plasti weld a one way valve to the outlet. You could retain the factory drain back to the crank case as well on this setup. When I got my 03 HO, the larger vent hose was barely holding on and just collecting oil, I just ripped it of and left it wide open while retaining the factory drain. I can see the steam from the back side of my hood when its cold, but at most i get a light mist of oil on my valve cover that i wipe off every once and awhile. Also on your design using the billet cover couldn't you have just drilled ports on the side of the cover to mount your A/Ns I would assume it wouldn't make a difference vent wise since its pressure taking the least path of resistance to a low pressure area but i could be wrong. Also on your design I was surprised at how bulky it was, with the fittings that you were using I would've assumed that the holding canister size wouldn't need to be so huge since its venting and draining like a mf back to the crankcase. Keep up the content, hope this feedback helps.

    the purpose of an oil catch can that recirculates is to prevent oil from burning which is why he has the drain on the bottom of the can, non recirculating catch cans will have the oil gather in the can and need to be drained.
