Super fun little Sportster project! With limited time and a tight budget I wanted to see how cool we could make a little sportster... I think it came out great! Let me know what you think in the comments and as always thanks for watching

A little tip is to peel the tape when the paint is not fully dried. Itll leave a more crisp line and you risk peeling the paint when you take the tape off when its fully dried

I have a '84' XLH that I did things to like new fenders and split tank then I painted. Swaped wheels to spoke. Had the barrels borded to 20 over. Replaced everything in the motor including barrings except the cams. Those are the only thing thats te same. I've got new generator-regulator, starter, LED headlight and sidelights. Its like a new bike but didn't cost thousands but still it only has a 4 speed. It's funny I keep going for that fifth gear when I ride with my friends LOL. My goal was to make it not look like a sporter and I think I did just that. Don't care what anybody says the sportsters are a good bike.

Very cool result! I had that same fairing on my 2000 Dyna FXDX when I bough it, but it was mounted up (with that flimsy bracket) over the top of the stock headlight mount, which made it very solid. You couldn't really see the original headlight mount under the fairing. So, maybe you didn't need the custom mount? The wheels and fork lowers look excellent!

My little sister is a junkie and she sold my 80 Ironhead behind my back for $300 the bike that was in my family since 93' that my dad put $20,000 into. Apparently black is in. I punched up this video thinking it was to address functional issues with a 29 year old bike. Instead it was all about not liking chrome and making it black. I am an older rider about to inherit a 95 xl1200 Sportster, stock, with lots of chrome, which I really prefer. I find the conversion to black a bit sacrilege. The bike, stock, represents the taste of the riders of the time. Me!

Mason, you seem like a nice guy so I want to pass on a little tip. I remain anonymous on here, but I have a small well respected Dyna performance shop. You can change the look of the front end for the better by redrilling the fender mounting bolts. It gets rid of the dirt bike look and when you see the difference, it's worth the effort. I have a dozen bikes done this way with probably a hundred thousand miles combined, so yes it holds up. And yes on the COMMANDER II tires, my " shop " Dyna has over 160 pounds feet of torque at the wheel, and the MICHELIN is the only tire for me. All the very best, SARGE.

@@jimmansi1187 Back in the days they used to use fishing weights or washers and make some weights that would get rtv'ed into the bar ends and curb the vibrations. You could also use sport bike type weights if you don't mind having sliders on the bar ends. Limits what kind of grips you can use though. Gotta experiment.
