So insane when you think of buddy holly you just feel as if he was older because of his ability to create such good music and revolutionize a sound in rock and roll, but when you see this you really see that he was just a kid, only 2 years older than I am right now when passed and still managed to create such a iconic image and sound that is everlasting

True! I think about that sometimes. The same with Ritchie Valens, how could such a young boy write such good music. He wrote better songs when he was 15-17 years old than 99% of us ever will. That's just crazy to think about.

He was the first white artist to play Apollo Theatre, had a #1 hit, played Ed Sullivan Show 2 times (could have been 3), and discovered Waylon Jennings All before turning 23. Crazy to think what he could have done if he was with us longer. I often think about what he accomplished in so little, while others fight their whole lives to accomplish one thing they are known for. He truly was the meaning of the word “trailblazer”

@laze mz Did I say anywhere in my comment that people didn’t write good music nowadays or that bad music didn’t exist back then? Let me check. I don’t think so. You are right about technology and over saturation. We are talking about separate issues.

This video really hits home just how young Buddy actually was. When you see photos of him it’s easy to think he was a lot older than he was because of the change in styles etc. It’s sad to think the oldest we will ever see him is 22.
Excellent footage. He was one cool cat.

At 0:59 they are replaying the knife fight scene from the movie Rebel Without A Cause. This video is the essence of the fifties!
That song and Buddy's singing still sounds great today.
Very cool, Without Buddy, wouldn't have Beatles, Stones, and tons of others
Buddy’s music will live on, he was a natural from the very first time he picked up a guitar, he left a legacy that we still hear even in today’s music ! God bless you Buddy 🎸
At 1:00 they are imitating James Dean in Rebel without a cause !
I have never stopped listening to Buddy's music. When I lived in NYC, and went to all of those oldies and doo wop concerts in the 1970's & 1980's, I used to think how great it would have been to see an older Buddy Holly appear and sing all of those great songs that he recorded in his youth.
My dad lived next door to Buddy and his family in Lubbock when he was a kid. Would have been 15 or 16 in 1958 when this video was shot

As long as we have devices to play Buddy's music, his music will be here until the end of time... ⏳ As a kid, I grew up with *The Beatles* . I didn't know anything about Buddy until I listen to a Beatles song "Words of Love" off their album The Beatles 6th. I noticed the writing credits didn't go to Lennon-McCartney or Harrison, It said "Buddy Holly" wow, who's he? I sure found out. He wrote so many great songs! And great people, like The Beatles, covered them! I really loved " *The Buddy Holly* Story" I learned a lot about the man through that brief movie. "Gary Buesy" did a great job portraying portraying him. Buddy, The Big Bopper, Ritchie Valens, and pilot Roger Peterson all went to Heaven that Very cold day 0n *February 3, 1959* 💒💗✝ ✈
Interesting home movie of Buddy Holly on his Triumph motorcycle. He may be long gone, but his music is always with us--it's timeless. "Think it Over" is my favourite Holly song--glad you used it, and thanks from me!! 🤓🤓🤓🎸🎸🎸

It's what the Beatles sang pre fame on a talent show which they lost and John didn't have his guitar and had to sing without the others played backing him. When they left that studio John had gotten a new one left by a hapless player who left it behind according to Paul.
It's very sad the way Buddy Holly died. Tragic, and not just because of the loss of human life, but rather the loss to human culture. How many great songs will we never get to hear? At the very least, Buddy gets to be "forever young" in our minds for the rest of eternity. Cold comfort for those wishing for the what-might-have-been, but at least it's something.
Total Dude. One of the best to this day. He completely revolutionized music. Thanks.

Great find here- real footage I'm assuming in Lubbock Texas. A deceased friends wife, grew up in Lubbock, with her back yard kiddy corner to Holly's, and who's mother would hold her up to watch (and hear) Holly and his band play. Now that's a childhood memory.
I love Buddy's songs! Thank you for uploading!

regarding this film, when the word "priceless" means exactly just that, nonmonetarily.
The bike in the opening is Allison's Triumph Trophy. Buddy's Ariel Cyclone can be seen at 8 seconds. Mauldin's Triumph Thunderbird is at 15 seconds. Buddy is in a solid white shirt. Mauldin in light blue. Allison is white/black or topless. Kerns Garza, Chief Operator KRFE (KDAV), Buddy Holly Radio Facility, Lubbock Texas

This film was taken at the Allison home on 6th street in Lubbock. 6th street in the Overton Neighborhood is now known as Mac Davis Lane. Allison's mother and father along with brother Jaime (Jamie) are also in the film. Allison's mother Louise Ferguson Allison was the principal of Ballenger School in Lubbock. You will notice the yellow truck in the film which is a Texas Highway Department vehicle driven by James Allison. It's hard to see the Texas flag on the drivers' door. Buddy fans may notice the white saddle cover on the Ariel which was a protector for the standard brown saddle. Google Earth coordinates for this film are 33.589902° -101.865405°. Today the location is the entrance to a modern apartment complex. "That'll Be The Day" was written in the apartment complex entrance!

After trying out several bikes, Joe picked out a red 1958 6T Triumph Thunderbird; JI went for the Triumph Trophy TR6A, and Buddy bought the new 1958 Arial Cyclone. While the bikes were being serviced, the boys went to JC Penny’s where they bought some Levi jackets and new boots.
