Think about it: Holly had a four piece band; double bass instead of bass, but like the Beatles, who he inspired wrote a lot of his own music. He was truly the father of what was called at the time 'the British invasion'. GOAT!

Great demo dispite tape hiss and one of the greatest Love Songs of all-time. On the album, "Beatles For Sale" the Beatles version appeared on that album. Others have also copied Buddy's songs. I also heard a Spanish version by a Mexican Rock group that recorded it in the 60's. The name of that group are Los Hermanos Carrion. Their version is also found here on Y-Tube. Buddy Holly's music can be heard through all four corners of the globe.

This version is marked as a demo. In the session at Norman Petty Studios of March 12, 1957, there were two recordings. The first was Buddy with Joe B. Mauldin and Jerry Allison. And secondly with Norman Petty on organ. This seems to be a version with double tracked vocal and guitar by Buddy Holly, But it’s not clear whether Norman Petty is on this recording too. I posted this too on Oct 21st, 2019.

@@foolsparadisepro.6674 I think that the one you have here is one of the two demo's of March 12, 1957. I don't know whether both versions are on a record. I only found this same one too. The "real" version was recorded on April 8, 1957. And there is one overdubbed version of 2nd half 2018 with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, as part of a special tribute project. You can hear these if you search in KZread with selection on "BUDDY HOLLY INFO 14". This leads to my account. Documentation is provided there too. I made that last year for 27 different songs (INFO 01 - 27) in 71 different versions.

John Lennon said a lot of things, so did Bob Dylan. However, if back in the 1970's during one of those horrible late night variety shows Holly would have stepped out of behind the curtain EVERYONE including the irascible Chuck Berry would have stood and applauded. (Not just because the dead could walk, but because he was so good to all of you wiseguys out there). Everybody loved him, even Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis who had words on each other never did they dis Holly.

It’s like a window, beyond the grave, I can almost see him, his messy hair, his lanky stature, his big bulky glasses, and that beaten up guitar. I can feel how he feels too, the pure emotion, and desire to be close. And near the end, I can sense his slight sorrow, because he wants to be next to her right now, but can’t. I truly is one of America’s great tragedies that he got on that plane, Lubbock misses you, America misses you, the world misses you. We’ll keep rocking, because you’re our Buddy.
