    I watched this just now to decide on an effective survival knife, with a serrated edge because I climb and might need to cut rope, and this knife seemed affordable quality wise. Your review is so helpful. Already ordered the knife. You are helping someone 6 years after posting the video! Thanks!

    That is an awesome story, and I totally agree, for the money you can't go wrong with the SENTRY.

    Hi guys, I have it, and I love it. I'm not a serration lover, but I do not care, I love it. I have a bunch of knifes like every body in here. But I took this one in my last trip on Panama (the country, not Florida :-) ) The knife did every thing well, wood processing included. Really nice size, edge, handle, material, finishing, etc. The sheath is bulky, but is just about my preferences. I paid $54 for this USA made Buck knife, brand new. I think that is a awesome deal for a knife like this.

    Great review! I just bought the Buck Endeavor which is the same knife as the Sentry, but with a bead blasted Gray finish. I love it!

    Sounds like a winner although right now the basic Seal Pup with the cloth (nylon or whatever) sheath is selling cheaper than $40 at one online store. But a durable handle and made in America will be on my list of choices.

    Thanks for the review. Yeah, serrations really suck. Otherwise I would buy it.

  • @Airik1111bibles
    @Airik1111bibles8 жыл бұрын

    Dude your Geber comment about their 420 hc not being as good as the Buck is not true IMHO, I know this vid is older but your review of the Strongarm proves it. The Prodigy and LMF both have been around and they all have excellent heat treatment. Have you changed your mind now brother or do you still feel this way? Many folks hate Gerber just because it's popular to do so, their USA made steel is tough stuff.

  • @TheCandyrod
    @TheCandyrod10 жыл бұрын

    Just bought the Endeavor, same as sentry without black coating. Great feel in hand and love the size ! Never used the 420HC steel from Buck so one thing is confusing me...some sites name it 420HC Stainless steel? Can high carbon be stainless? So what is your long term wear resistance opinion on this knife and steel?

  • @gideonstactical

    @gideonstactical

    10 жыл бұрын

    I do not know why they do that. It is an oxymoron to say it is a stainless steel. 420 is a stainless steel, but then BUCK combines it with carbon and brings up the carbon content in the steel to give it strength and edge retention. With that said BUCK does the best with 420HC and I have seen similar wear and edge retention with SOG AUS-8. It is good and easy to field sharpen.

    this is pretty dope but its toooooooo much like the gerber prodigy that is cheaper and has a better sheath so to me the only reason to get the buck is if you are a buck fan, you are boycotting gerber or you collect knives and just don't care, but as far a logic, they are the same steel both made in America almost the same size shape and design... so to me the cheaper 1 with the better sheath is the way to go right?
