Those "funny moments" compilations are tricky, sometimes hard to get for newbies, you should try those like "V being himself", "Jungkook hates loosing", "RM god of destruction", "Suga savage moments", "Jin acting like an old guy/Scolding his members" "Jimin being clumsy", "J-Hope screaming for 8 minutes", "BTS vs BTS". "don't let BTS go on tour", "BTS crackheads at awards shows" Those are really funny 💜

I feel like a lot of these are funnier with context, I'm not done with the video yet but it looks like most of them are from the app Vlive, they have a 'run BTS' series and also just live streams. So with the english thing, I think Namjoon learned kinda young (?) His parents bought him 'friends' and that's how he says he learned english. I think it's a big thing to learn english in south korea(and many parts of the world too), because well it will just help you to be more successful I suppose the way learning another language does. I think another big reason for BTS in particular to learn english is because there is such a large amount of army who speak english and they would like to be able to communicate with/understand us.

3:13 they were choosing their "beyblades" and Jin just took his favorite without asking if any of them wanted that too. 3:31 RM is telling the story about how he learned english by himself only by watching 'Friends', and Jin an SUGA in the back, are making fun of RM because they watched the sitcom too but they hadn't learn how to speak English. 3:43 They were creating new stories and characters ( each of them created an animated character, which together, are called BT21) and while presenting their thoughts, Jin realised that Jimin and him had had the same idea. 4:44 Jimin is the shortest of the group and the members often make fun of him because of it, that's why he's trying so hard to make his arms get longer. *1 most of the games they are playing are from a show that they have called "Run, BTS", actually on tuesday they posted their 99th episode. You can find all of the episodes in a platform called 'Vlive'. *2 Since you are new to the fandom and haven't watched a lot of content I tried to explain some of the part you seemed a little off hahaha *3 I'm Brazillian, so if you find any (or a lot of) typos, I'm sorry haha

RM (Kim Namjoon) learned English when he was younger, before BTS. His mother bought him all the CDs for every season of the sitcom “Friends”. He watched it first with Korean subtitles, than a second time with English subtitles, then a third time with no subtitles. He has a high IQ and picks up things much faster. A lot of them are also learning Japanese and have several songs released with Japanese translated lyrics. In carpool Karaoke, that’s why Jin was talking to Suga saying “my Mom bought me Friends too, but I didn’t learn English”. Lol 😂😂😂👍👍👍💜💜💜

To answer a few questions, Namjoon (RM) learned English on his own when he was younger by watching Friends. I don’t know the exact reason why he learned, but he is somewhat of a genius (IQ 148) so he probably just loved the language and liked English songs and had the ability to pick it up quickly. The rest of the members want to learn English so they can help Namjoon during interviews in the west and so that they can better communicate with their international fans :) Now about competitiveness, when it comes to their career, they always try to bring each other up and hype each other and ask people to love all 7 of them instead of picking favorites. They all share the same twitter account instead of having 7 separate ones like some other groups do, and they are very supportive of each other, and don’t try to steal the spotlight from one another. On the other hand, when it comes to playing games, they are SO competitive with each other it’s hilarious 😂 most of the clips in this video of them playing games come from a show called Run BTS that you can watch on an App called VLive. Run BTS is a great way for you to get to know them better. They play lots of games where they split into teams and compete in different ways, and all these episodes will make you cry from laughing, so I recommend you download the app and watch them on your own if you’re bored and have the time. Hope this helped! 💜

Thank you, great job with this! If I may add a couple thoughts too for any non-Korean-speakers? For Jin (Seokjin), the "seok" is the same as in J-Hope's Hoseok and they're both pronounced as "suck" but with as soft an S as you can manage. For Jimin, please try not to put an accent on either syllable. (Sometimes I see people pronounce his name with the accent on the second syllable and it sounds soooooooo wrong.) For Taehyung, the "hyung" is totally doable! Just think about the word "hue" or the name "Hugh", but instead of the "yooh" vowel sound, do a "yung". Easy peasy! For Jungkook, the "j" is similar to the "j" in words like jug or judge. A smidge more aspirated, but seriously don't worry about it. Think jug or judge. =) Good luck!

@INF1NIT3 SIN In regards to "bts being extra af at america", yes it's funny but could come off "strange" if you are not familiar with other cultures. Please keep in mind that in their culture it's acceptable for male friends to be "touchy" with each other (unlike American culture). Also, there's an interview that ask if they are dating. The direct translation of dating is more like hanging out, not being in a romantic relationship, therefore the response of one of the members seems strange.

a lot of these “funny moments” videos are typically only funny to longtime fans, as the clips are usually out of context and may not make a lot of sense to newbies. they have a variety show called Run BTS on the app VLive where they play games and whatnot, there’s like almost 100 episodes now and it’s really fun to watch. 😊 and about Namjoon’s English, he learned on his own i guess fairly young? probably as a pre-teen or just a young teen. he watched Friends first with Korean subtitles, then English subtitles, then no subtitles. he has an IQ of 148 and i think that really helps him pick up languages a lot faster. i don’t know if at the time he learned for any particular reason, other than liking the language and listening to English songs. i would say for idols it can be important to know at least some English, especially now that it’s become so popular in the west. a lot of kpop idols do know English, a good portion of them actually either grew up learning it in school, studied abroad, or they were born and raised in the west, then went to Korea to be idols. an example are Johnny and Mark from the group NCT. Johnny was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois and Mark in Canada, so English is both of their first language. but the other members of BTS do pick up and try to learn some English, both for themselves and to communicate with international fans. they’ve also mentioned wanting to help Namjoon in western interviews so he doesn’t have to have the burden of doing all the work. :)

In answer to your question, "Why did RM decide to learn English?" In South Korea English is part of the school curriculum and English is part of the entry exam for university. Parents that can afford it will send their children to an English speaking country to become proficient in English, and wives and children will actually go to live in America or Canada or Australia while the husband remains behind in Korea earning money to support them, they are called 'goose dads'. English is a requirement, as well as other accomplishments, to get a good job in South Korea. RM isn't 'pushing them' to learn English, he is assisting and encouraging them, as they have studied it in school and continue to improve. They also learn other languages such as Japanese and Chinese.

  • @JH-jw7pu
    @JH-jw7pu4 жыл бұрын

English is taught regularly in Korea in schools so they all have basic English knowledge. For RM's case, his mom basically bought him the entire 'Friends' series set to learn English. He has said in the past that he first watched the episodes with the subs and then without to learn. In the end, the main reason he was able to pick up English so well from the series is because he is hella smart. He has an IQ of 148 and was in the top 1% in Korea during his school years. The other members are now learning English by choice to better communicate with their fans worldwide. Their worldwide success, especially in the west, was unpredictable and they wish to better their English skills for themselves, not only to better communicate with their fans but also to take some stress off of RM in terms of constantly speaking for the group during English promotions and interviews.

Haha Bts are really funny and each one of the members shine in their own way. For me, the first funny video I watched of them was "Namjoon being done with bts' english and "Bts being extra af in America" I couldn't stop laughing and the video made it more hilarious to me. Anyways, the games they play are actually a part of the BTS RUN EPISODES. You can watch it on vlive app its free and the members come live also in that app. I think you can start watching the music videos one by one according to the storyline. And dont worry, you're officially an army haha. Armys are really diverse and it doesnt matter where and when they start watching bts, what matters is that they appreciate bts and really take interest in the messages that bts is trying to convey! Good luck, your reactions are the best!

BTS has two apps called VLIVE and Weverse. With full schedules all the time, BTS doesn’t really get to be relax and enjoy fun as young men so they have managers that comes up with shows of them playing games, playing sports, cooking and other fun stuff. They also have summer and winter vacation packages on there. The one you’re wondering about is called BTS RUN, they release new RUN content every Tuesday. BTS also will go LIVE on the app after each award show to expression their thoughts and appreciation to ARMY. Some fans will illegally download their videos hoping to not get a strike for it. When you have time you should check it out! You will find a lot of their original videos and behind the scenes contents there.

A lot of those clips come from their ongoing variety show called Run BTS!, they play a lot of games and do activities. That board game doesn't really exist, as it was created for the episode, but the games they were playing with the board game are just common variety show games that you'd find on Korean TV. The rest of the clips seem to come from livestreams and a comeback special, and some US Late show interviews.

RM learned english because he started to rap and his idols were american, he learned through watching th tv show Friends because there was a time when Koreans were really into the show and watched it with their families. As for the other members, we all speculate that Suga is secretly fluent, and all the other members study english in their downtime. All the guys happen to speak a rather fluent Japanse, and some members have a a few basics in mandarin. They also try their best to learn a few phrases in the language of the countries they tour in.

So about the English thing you were wondering about I think its because Namjoon(RM) has always been a smart child (IQ 148) and he has been interested in rapping since a very young age. He said he grew up listening to Eminem and various other artists and he obviously is a very big fan of Friends which probably got him curious to learn more. He also studied abroad in New Zealand for about 6 months when he was in middle school. My guess he is just the type of person to excel in what he is interested in. The schools in Korea are taught in Korean (of course) and everyone has a basic understanding of English (as a separate subject) like other countries have a basic knowledge of French/spanish/etc but having a basic understanding doesn't mean its easy to become fluent in another language specially if you you only interact in Korean/your primary language. Most of the members do understand a lot of English but they are not good at expressing themselves(limited vocabulary?) in English and not very confident so I guess it can come off like they are not trying to learn. They have however improved their English speaking abilities over the past few years so Armys are happy with their effort specially since they are busy 24/7 with filming/practising songs & dance/ photo shoots/ coming up with new songs/completing their university degrees/etc ~

19:50 i think the only time they said something like that is when they were creating their own characters for LINE FRIENDS and Jin and V were bickering whos character will be more popular. Other than that, they do bicker but it's mostly abt something stupid like who is taller and shit like that. I think the "who's more popular" stuff did bother them in the beginning, but now the don't really seem to care and they just loooove hyping each other up ~ btw if you want to know their personalities then i would suggest you watch Run BTS on Weverse or Vlive in your free time, it's really fun and they do lots of things there - playing boardgames, chilling, singing/screaming karaoke songs, bungy jumping, playing VR games, doing pottery, making food etc. The show has 99 episodes as of now, new episodes come out every week. Concerning competition - one of the things I love the most about BTS as a group is how they celebrate each other's achievements. When V was voted the most beautiful man on earth in 2017, they were playfully mentioning it in various situations among themselves. In interview with Jimmy Fallon they mentioned how they want to meet with John Cena who is an army himself, and Jimin said that JHope is John Cena's favorite. They have been developing this mentality since pre-debut days and it hugely pays off. It really is one of the strongest powers they have as a group. I never saw them mentioning things like who got the most likes, but seeing many other situations like that I am pretty positive that it would be another member telling this about "the winner" and praising him for that, and others joining in, with someone also making a joke about it. As it was mentioned in another comment here, there is tons of funny competitions they have in Run BTS, their ongoing show. During those some of them sometimes tells others that hey guys, this game will be over but we will keep living together, remember that. But you can see that they are having a lot of fun doing that. And there is a creative competition Suga mentioned in interview with Grammy museum, the competition on who creates the best melody in the company. That includes team of song producers and writers of Big Hit. Suga compared their company's creative process to a year-round song camp where everyone is making something up and sends it in for evaluation. But whenever we see the backstage of this process, what I see most is collaboration and cooperation. It is a competition in good faith and with celebration of victories together.

Like your reactions 💜 They actually are not so bad at english, if I had to rank them : 1. RM; obviously 2. Suga; he attended an englisch school and if he talks, he sounds relatively fluid but he prefers to talk in Korean (maybe also because of his anxiety?) 3. Jungkook and J-Hope; JK has really improved (he wanted to learn, so that RM didn't have to work so hard) 4. Jin and V.; their pronunciation is still not so good, but they are definitely better than 2-3 years ago. 5. Jimin ; his speaking is not so good, but I think he understands pretty well. I don't like these videos like "RM is so done with BTS's englisch", because, yeah they maybe funny..., but I, and that's only my opinion, found them downgrading the members a little bit. So, anyway I really appreciate your reactions ; I don't like those overhyped reactors who are bouncing around like squirrels on energizer. You have a nice calm way to share your thoughts, so... You're nice, keep going! 💜👍

Namjoonie learns English because he watched the whole seasons of friends with Korean subtitles, then with English subtitles and finally without subtitles, Believe me, you don't want to mess with those guys when they play, they are competitive AF, they betrayed their friendships so much, also if you really want to meet them properly and their personalities you should watch the Carpool Karaoke with James, it truly shows who they are. Also, I'm from Colombia and I speak Spanish, English, French, and I'm learning Korean.

That game was called “007 Bang!” gong(0)gong(0)chil(7) bang in Korean. Its a game when someone starts off, they shoot someone, and the people to their left and right go Ah! (cuz they’re scared that they got shot or something). Once you get shot, you shoot someone else, or yourself, (after the other two scream) and the game continues. If you scream “Ah!” and you weren’t supposed to, or you say nothing at all when you’re supposed to say “Ah,” your out. Also, if you say “Ah!” out of tempo, or forget to shoot again, you’re out too. It gets harder as it gets faster and faster. Sorry if I was confusing, you can look the game up too and find better explanations. I think if you search “BTS 007 Bang” on youtube, you can see how they play it too. Oops i forgot. You say 007 when you point to yourself, then Bang! as you point to another person, or yourself. I recommend watching bts play though. You will understand quickly.

RM was an excellent student with good grade 1.6% of his national pre sat score .(Getting a good grade from Korean, Math , Sciences and English was very important as a student in Korea. People judge you based on your grade.70% of average high school students entered college in Korea. )When he wanted to be a rapper in middle school, his father persuaded him saying," you are still young unexperienced. Why don't you study harder and try your best and read more books to know what is out there. tender age dream can be changed often." so RM did what he was supposed to do as a student but he still did not give up as a rapper and he gave up going to the best college like his friend did with similar scored what RM used to had.RM and all of his members have gone to cyber college except Jin. Jin graduated in 2017 , you will be able to see this related clip from Bangtan episode. Jin was accepted in his early admission highly competitive 210:1 when he entered University major in acting and Jimin was a top student when he entered art high school.

Namjoon aka RM is like the unofficial translator of BTS since he's the only one fluent in English, which he learned and taught himself through the 10 seasons of "Friends" provided by his mom. Like many kids growing up, it can be frustrating when your parents push you to study, but RM is very thankful for that since he can speak English. Also, rather than "pushing", RM is encouraging members to speak in English so that they can better communicate with their international fans. The members don't want RM to feel that burden of translating all the time so they're working hard on learning English as a result. So to answer your question, yes RM "pushes" the members to learn English but more in an encouraging way. 😁👍💜

A comment on the English question. In South Korea English is taught throughout elementary to high school, so most koreans have basic english skills, I think the members have a great base of reading and writing english their just not that confident speaking it. For RM (Namjoon) he learned more/had more practice watching the show 'Friends' first using the korean subtitles then using the english subtitles then a 3rd time w/out any subtitles. In terms of "pushing them to learn english" I would say that the other members want to learn more english to help with the english interviews and to reach their global fanbase. They want to help out Namjoon so he doesn't feel like all of the pressure is on him when they are doing press stuff.

Namjoon learned English before he joined Big Hit. He studied for 9 months in New Zealand and he has an IQ of 148 so his capacity to retain what he learns is probably high. And it isn't that he's pushing the others to learn. The clips that you see is really him cheering the others on and trying to give them confidence to speak English in interviews since they're shy with their English. But they have improved soooo much where their English is concerned. We know that Jungkook especially has stated he is really focusing on learning it. PS...They also study Japanese and Mandarin (or whichever language it is in Chinese). It's probably because they're huge in both markets, especially in Japan. Their English is a little behind because they never expected to blow up as big as they have in the US.

Young man you have gone down the rabbit hole of BTS - BUT you are amazingly cool for being open to learning about a new culture and language. There’s so much history you need to catch up on, and what others have said on here are great suggestions (like watching RuN BTS-in latest episodes they were reliving childhood games: putting together toy cars, making Beyblade tops, making candy, basically playground games). So much of what you’re getting jazzed about is social and cultural stuff too. There are a lot of similarities to US youth culture, and they are a part of that global online community. Pretty soon you’ll be watching Korean films too, and I highly recommend Parasite on Hulu (dramatic and current showing the class divide in South Korean society), or Train to Busan on Netflix (fast zombies). Also Kingdom series on Netflix is also allot of fun - and more crazy-fast zombies.

In korea it's a big thing to learn english. For some perspective, I got to university in korea and all of my korean friends are required to tak a certian amount of classes in english no matter what their major is. English is also its own section ( like math and science) on the 'Korean SAT' . One of the things about BTS is that only RM and Jin from Seoul (the capital of korea) and in Seoul the importance of English is even more heavily pushed onto students.

I taught Korean students in Texas. Being able to speak English fluently is a big deal and was the reason they came to the US. Namjoon is an academic and hungry for knowledge. Learning English is an academic objective just like calculus in school, and he knew it's future impact, even at a middle school age. This, among the other reasons mentioned in the thread, is why he learned English.

I really like that you're reacting to BTS and that you found them and post reactions. It often makes my day a lot better as soon as I see a video of you. This makes me feel better and I also use this to improve my knowledge about the language English. I'm trying for a while now to watch and listen to things in English to get better. But it is still hard for me to speak in English because there aren't many occations except for Discord. Even though I'm learning English for 11 years in school now I'm still insecure about it and learning at home by watching English content greatly improved my skills.

RM learn english because of his mom. She gave Friends sitcom videos for RM. So he taught himself by watching it. In Korea, well I think in almost Asian country, study in America or Europe is like high life. Only the smartest or the richest who can do that. So, as I know, RM family like that too. They want their children to study english so maybe one day they can study in America or Europe. And they will get good job with high salary. RM has 148 IQ and one of the best student in Korea when he's in high school. When he was in 5th grade he made a poem about Korean unification (South & North). He loves hiphop so I think he learn english from that too. So that's why, around their debut (first come out to public as BTS) he made mistakes, coz maybe he didn't fully understand the meanings. Different cultures too. The reason why other members learn english coz they want to help RM. At the first Billboard Awards, RM who spoke and translated, so he said that he got headache after the show coz of interviews. They're like real brothers, maybe more, coz they support each others, that's why I love them so much. I hope they never change :)
