    For those following along at home, one of the things @TheSmokingApe mentions is BTECH DMR-6X2 support for APRS. See an update on Analog & DMRS support for APRS here: baofengtech.com/new-firmware-adds-analog-aprs-to-the-dmr-6x2-handheld-radio/

    Forgive me if I may have missed a video on this, but I wanted to know if you had a video on setting the Btech 6x2 to be used as a digital simplex repeater? If not, could I offer that as a suggestion? I would greatly appreciate it! I’m sure I’m just missing some simple step, but for the life of me I can’t figure it out properly and Baofeng Tech folks aren’t getting back to me. Regardless, thanks for all the videos!!!

    I just ordered one of these radios. How would I create a codeplug from a CSV file that I created from chirp with the analog channels I have in my HT so I can use the radio while I'm learning about DMR and the other functions?

    Okay, I'm a Fusion guy so bear with me. With Fusion, I can use my radio analog or digital; simplex or w/repeater and it can be used with the internet and chat rooms etc. 99% of my use is non-internet... probably more as I have only 'played' with wires-x. My question is, is DMR mostly internet connected with the ability to use it without the internet or is it like the way I'm using Fusion... mostly without internet? Thanks for your videos!

    So DMR is a digital mode that works over airwaves. Your local repeater may or may not be connected to a network (DMR MARC and Brandmeister being the most popular), the connection to the network is done via internet. Also, the networks are typically interconnected. For example; you could be talking on a DMR MARC repeater talkgroup that is cross linked to a Brandmeister TG that I am monitoring on my Internet connected hot spot. Hope that helps but it probably makes it more confusing...

    Thank you for the time spent to make your videos. I have a BTECH DMR-6X2 Radio and I am looking for The software you are using in this video to make the code plug: What is the name of the program and can you share a link where I can download the software. Thank you!!

    It’s bundled in the zip file in Btechs website, I think it’s under Digital Software 👍

    @@TheSmokinApe Thank you, I found it on their website!! I sent you an email requesting some help but if you prefer using KZread channel I am fine with that. I am an (very) amateur radio operator so I hope you don't mind if I ask you questions until I can get on my feet running. Again Thank you!!

    Question: when you import the digital contact list, I have some contacts I have keyed in manually. Will they remain? Also, will importing the contact list allow me to display the person’s name and callsign on the radio as we are having a conversation? Currently I don’t have a full fledged list on my radio, so all I see on the display is the DMR ID number.

  • @TheSmokinApe

    They will remain. By importing the database you will be able to see all their contact info.

    One question I have is are you able to export repeater lists info from say chirp and import it into the btech solfware?

  • @TheSmokinApe

    @TheSmokinApe

    You can, but you would need to change the format in a csv file editor.

    @@TheSmokinApe I played around with it in excel lastnight, and got it to work. I basically started from scratch, and imported all the repeaters in my area for 2m and 70cm from repeaterbook.com into a spreadsheet. I then weeded out the repeaters that are down, or ones I don't use. That took some time lol. I then imported it through the csp software. I narrowed my list down to 418 repeaters, including digital repeaters as well which I had to go in, and add the TG ID's for those since that didn't get pulled when they were exported. All together it took me 4 hours to do all this.

    As I turned my radio on all it says is “programming error” I was manually inputting analog repeaters I to the radio via the keyboard and haven’t had issues up to this point. Any insight as to what I can do? Thanks
