Bruce McArthur’s coworker on his early days in Toronto in the 1970s - The Fifth Estate

It was the mid-1970s and John Foot remembers walking into the Eaton’s merchandise office on the 10th floor of a building on Downey’s Lane, a street that once existed under what is now the Eaton Centre in downtown Toronto. On his first day there, he met a young Bruce McArthur.

What was the point of this interview? No criticism towards the gentleman being being interviewed, but the interviewer was terrible.

It seems to me that criminals in this league are able to shape-shift and live a double life. The “who would have thought it?” response is frequently the case.

People who loose there temper are real, they are not serial killers. They let their emotions out don't bottle them up. Most serial killers are really good at tricking people.

Wow I'd forgotten about the time they turned Yonge St from Bloor St south into a pedestrian mall, 5:30.. I think that was early 70's. So avant garde for T.O!!

This interview was a complete waste of time. The comments are only half interesting, which was better than the interview. All in all... scroll on by. I'm extremely surprised that The Fifth Estate would allow this to be aired.

What is the point of this interview? People liked Gohn Wayne Gacy He was a freakin clown for crying out loud. Serial killers are not scary monsters on the outside or people would not befriend them. Who cares that this guy worked at Eatons ordering whatever.

Exactly. "Paid his rent on time" type assessments. Of COURSE serial killers *seem* 'normal'. It's that ability to assimilate that allows them to walk (& kill) among us, unnoticed.

Well, according to statistics, serial killers do start their murdering in their early 20's. If he did indeed start in the mid to late 70's. McArthur would've been 23 years old (ie: 1975 - 1952 (his birth year) = 23 years old). Just announced he's been charged with 8 counts of 1st degree murder of the John Doe photo that was released a month ago. Although I love following true crime cases, I feel repulsed as this was happening in my very hometown of Toronto. My deepest condolences goes out to all victims families from the 1970's to now.

My apologies.....but however you can see sinister looks in some men’s and few women’s eyes when out and about during the day in and on public transport..on the street passing eye contact ...when it happens and with fleeting interaction occasionally....perhaps I am an empath but it is defiantly a thing I have noticed ...even as a child on occasion with some human.

This guys facial expressions. It’s like he wants to cry but he is waiting for the interviewer to tell him that crying is allowed. The fact that he has zero information or insight into the “serial killer” makes me wonder why they would upload this video.

Quote of the video "i don't remember seeing any cases of gayness". I'd rather listen to him than listen to detectives.....they have do desire to find the truth. They need to manipulate and skew information to prove"their truth" (which often has nothing to do with the actual truth. And no cop cars in this video.. that's a huge bonus
