Speaking of, did you know that Bruce Boxleitner isn't the only Babylon 5 actor who was also in Tron. Peter Jurasik (Londo) played Crom in the Movie.

Bruce....you made some of the most inspiring speeches in all of sci-fi. Loved B5. Loved Captain Sheridan. RIP Mia Furlan, RIP Jerry Doyle, RIP Richard Biggs, RIP Stephen First, RIP Andreas Katsulas, RIP Jeff Conway....You guys made and epic sci-fi legacy!

Mira's passing is one of those few where an actor reaching the end of their life cuts you to the heart. Delenn was a stellar character and her love story with Sheridan was so wonderful and tragic in its turns of fate. It hits me very hard personally as the development of the relationship between my wife and I had echoes of it, except that she was the one that dies young (cancer got her at 42), and I have sat watching the sun come up as Delenn did for John ... so every time I watch that particular episode I dissolve in tears as you can imagine.

Right before B5 declared independence from Earth, Sheridan makes a call to his Dad. Fabulous scene, so different from the typical sci-fi script. Re-enforced the feeling these were real people making real decisions.

Yeah. The dialogue in a vacuum was corny. But in the scene, with the actors and they way it was all presented it felt real - though still corny. You just felt great about it no matter what. It was amazing.

@@xellos5262 the context was powerful. The B5 crew and the rebels were running around and no one knew what to do. John calls his father in a rare moment of alone time and gets a typical adult-son conversation, but Sheridan is incredibly tense knowing his family are on Earth and in incredible danger. His father is very calm and even jokes the neighbors like him and Sheridan's mother. We are led to think the elder Sheridan is in mortal danger yet in the present it is John Sheridan who risks dying along with the millions on the station.

I thought Bruce nailed it as Sheridan. From Captain to President. In fact give praise to the whole cast who were amazing. RIP to those that have left us to travel beyond the rim.

I just heard about Mira passing today .I hadn't kept up with the cast in a long time but when I saw the wikipedia page regarding the show being remastered I was stunned and really saddened to see just how many of them were gone 😢 I knew about Andreas but not all the other ones. I absolutely loved that show .I grew up with it and got a lot of people reeled into it and even people who weren't sci-fi fans .This was a show that can draw you in no matter what your fictional preference is . Every week I used to have get togethers with friends and family to watch the show on my big screen TV and the surround sound going . I was sad to see the show come to an end but they did it on a high note and with style .There will never be another one like it .

Mira gifted us one of the most amazing characters of all times. I cried genuine tears on last episode and now that she's gone I like to think that finally Delenn met her beloved one in the light. Rest in peace you wonderful lady. 😔

Ohhhh. Mira. She gave us so many fantastic and magical days. RIP wonderful lady.

My wife and I watched it the first time and loved the show. We've watched it with our kids several times on DVD's and now on HBO Max. Thanks so much! Bruce Boxleitner is such a gracious fan of his fans.

Babylon 5 never disappointed. Brilliantly written characters and storylines, brilliantly acted. Without doubt, my favourite scifi series of all time (and being a wrinkly I've seen a few). Marvellous as Farscape, Stargate SG1 and Stargate Atlantis are, Bab5 remains my number 1.

I disagree. I remember it being badly acted & script poorly written back in he day so I decided to give it a fresh try as I love sci fi from the 90s… I’m on season 5 now & it’s extremely boring / unconvincing

Couldnt agree more, i was 10 when this came out, i t was absolutely the coolest thing id ever seen. i still re-watch this series over and over till this day. there was nothing like it and there still is nothing that compares till this day.

Bruce knows his facts . Classy guy , great voice and presence . I really hope this brings more people in to appreciate what an under rated show B5 is

One scene I never forgot, but it was subtle. Sheridan was traveling with Delenn on her ship and in the sleeping quarters they slept in strange angled beds. Sheridan told Delenn about how his dad would spray water on the roof to make the sound of rain to help him sleep. Delenn spoke a few words, and the computer made the sound of rain. Back then, it just seemed so futuristic for a computer to do that, and now we pretty much have systems like that. Loved the show, the Vorlons and everything and I'll be watching. Bester was played quite well too! R.I.P. Mira and thanks for a great character.

Bruce Boxleitner and Mira Furlan really helped make Babylon 5 one of the best scifi shows ever created. The emotional depth of the characters, the exploration of social, political, religious, and philosophical questions really showed what could be achieved. And I love that Ron D Moore showed JMS the script for the pilot for Battlestar Galactica. Two shows that have elevated science fiction story telling to heights that still haven't been matched.

Mira was the exact right person to play that role. She could be sweet and gentle or a complete badass or both at the same time.

Bruce was chosen by the universe for the role of Sheriden, it was trying to understand itself.

Am a Star Trek fan, can confirm. Star Trek, Babylon 5, and The Orville all have my undying love, and all for different reasons. But my world would be missing critical pieces if I hadn't experienced all of them.

I was one of the 'ball-boys' for that tennis match. Jerry had broken his toe and he kept playing despite the fact his shoe was filling with blood (yes, the break was THAT bad!). They raised a load of cash for charity and it was great fun!

I'm a 30 year old dude. Didn't see Babylon 5 until my late teens. It really shaped who I became as a man. Bruce really has that authority/father figure going on. Wish him all the best in the future. I hope that they redo Babylon 5, and that he gets a role in it, maybe as Lorien. RIP Mira.

I miss Babylon 5. It always hit that sweet spot for me between a dark dystopia, and a hopeful future.

RIP Mira Furlan. We lost you far too soon. I've always felt that Bruce Boxleitner would be a perfect fit as Uncle Ben in a Spiderman Film or Animated series. I hope that happens one day.

Please take this as the constructive criticism it is meant to be. You keep interrupting Boxeleitner. You need to listen to what he is saying rather than waiting for a pause to say something. You need let the conversation flow naturally using light touch to guide it. You interrupted a few trains of thoughts for Boxleitner that would have have provided the fans some real gems. I wish you the best in future interviews.

I LOVED HEARING AND SEEING BRUCE HERE. IT WAS SO GREAT TO HEAR HIS STORIES, I COULD LISTEN FOR HOURS B5 FOREVER.

Bruce Boxleitner is a truly gracious gentleman. What a great conversation with him. Mira Furlan was also a wonderful actress, who was unfortunately a victim of an early form of cancel culture in her native Croatia. We should all learn from the mistakes of the past and the ultimate harm of cancel culture.

I can remember when Boxleitner came to the show, I was so excited. He had great cred to his career at that point. It was great to get such a powerful actor in that key role. Bruce is a great guy. I love B5. I bought all the seasons on dvd and hope that the redo is released on dvd so I can update all my library. B5 defined the approach of scifi episodics for the next forty+ years. They put together an amazing story, fantastic music, incredible characters and the best actors I could imagine.

True.zI have two,iirc,of some of the music CDs. The sjow was groundbreaking in a lot of ways-allowed by it being an smaller independent production.

So much loss so much death. Truly a gem in time. We will never see their like again.

Bruce Boxleitner, what a guy. First encountered him on TV when I was but a kid, watching Scarecrow and Mrs King. I just checked his imdb page and saw he's only had two years without appearing on screen since 1973. Some years have three or four entries. And of course, he was Tron. What an incredible career.

I was an early internet user and remember the newsgroups very well, still remember when JMS replied to a question I had asked. I had the biggest Nerd smile ever lol

20 years later, I still don't look at a sunrise without thinking of the finale.

At 13:00 minute mark, when they talk about bringing in guest stars to their isolated lot, it reminds me so much of that blooper when they had a meeting with a 2nd commander and Sheridan asks where the General Haig was and his actor replied, "He didn't make it. He's on Deep Space Nine. His agent double-booked him." LOL!

There's a certain irony to the fact that of the characters present at "The Last Supper" in "Sleeping In Light" only Sheridan & Ivanova remain & Sheridan is the only one that dies in the episode. I get the same emotions watching it now as i got when i saw the episode for the first time. When JMS turns out the lights i get a tear in my eye. The Luke Skywalker return in The Mandalorian is the only thing that has had the same effect in the 20+ years since & is a testament to the quality of the show & how much we came to love it & the characters. Every time another one leaves us i watch the episode again. We will always miss everybody may they all rest peacefully in a place where no shadows fall.

John and Delenn's relationship was the highlight of the show

That scene where Kosh saved Sheridan as he falling from the explosion, still gets me EVERYTIME !

My wife and I re-watch B5 every few years or so. We will be doing this again soon in honor of Mira.

Babylon 5 is a fictional place but it feels real when you watch it.

Also I should mention the Christoph Franke soundtrack, it’s excellence. Another very special element of B5.

I met Mira Furlan several times. She was playing Medea at the Hudson Theater and my friend was in the show with her, and I went to see the performance (It was spectacular, by the way). Several years later, this same friend had a party at her house and Mira was at the party. She was such a lovely, friendly, and kind person. I had already loved Babylon 5 before then but after that I made sure to watch every episode. When she died, I was truly sad, despite the fact that I had met her only a few times. Her soul came through the television and touched so many people. She WAS Delenn.

It's so wonderful to be able to see Bruce again (^_^)

Greatest story ever told on tv. Babylon 5 aired in Finland back when I was doing my apprenticeship in pharmacy, which was otherwise very cool place, but the owner was probably sick in the head, enjoyed punishing her workers for whatever reason, and it was getting really difficult to take, for me, but also for the others. Then one weekend evening I absolutely randomly bumped into Babylon 5 (must have been 1998-1999, as that was the time I was in the pharmacy), and I was little unsure of it first, but after 8 episodes I was sold. Season 1 went through latter part of my pharmacy time, and it was literally my beacon of hope, something to live for, to be dramatic. Now I´ve watched B5 nine times fully through. Best series imho.

Babylon 5 is my absolute favorite show as well as Stargate SG1!

My 2 favorites as well. I'm pretty picky with Sci-fi and these 2 shows have stood the test of time.

I remember initially liking B5 for the ships, especially the Starfuries - space fighters that actually utilized *physics* in their maneuvering! But the characters, their intriguing individual stories, and the seemingly crazy events that coalesced to bring about the great war, put B5 among the finest series' ever presented on television - sci-fi or otherwise. Bruce's fond remembrance of Mira, and of previously fallen cast members, was touching. Family indeed.

Great show, fantastic people, classic for ever. Thank you :)

Thanks for this interview, it means a great deal to us 'old Babylonians'.

All these years later, Babylon 5 is still one of my favorite shows; and in my opinion, still among the best science-fiction television ever created. It helped to re-define the genre. Bruce was and is amazing, and Sheridan was such a great, fully-realized character. I will always be a fan; and I'm happy that I've been able to introduce people to the show myself, and watch them become big fans as well.

Bruce comes across as such a cool person. I love what a genuine fan of the show he seems to be. Whenever I've seen him in interviews he always remembers all the little details about the show and the plot. Plus nice geek cred for the Duke Nukem reference.

I met her at a convention and she was so sweet and nice to a very star struck fan.

B5 was gritty, and dark...It was real. There was an air to it that always made u feel like the floor was about to fall out from under u, and yet, there was always hope... it was poetry ❤️

*Massive KUDOS* for his respect in how he spoke about the crew. So many forget the people that really put in the hard work.

A friend and I were lucky enough to get a set and production tour of the Babylon 5 set by John Iacovelli. They did amazing detailed and quality work on the set, costumes and props. They were so surprised to find a pair of fans who asked questions about their work, where did they get the inspiration for....., etc.

Individual episodes of Star Trek may rightly be considered the best TV sci-fi ever created, but when you take the sweep of Babylon 5 as a whole - nothing can beat it! Not even the mighty Trek!

I still remember that on first broadcast in Australia, B5 was put up against Deep Space 9. Being a trekkie, I was watching DS9 and flipping over in the ad breaks, out of curiosity. By the end of the first season of B5, it was the other way around, I was tuning into B5 and not really bothering with Trek. Oddly when I watch the DS9 story arc, I think they were actually poaching a lot of aspects of their show from Babylon 5. The religious significance, the war, the notion of destiny.

The DS9 production staff had the B5 " Bible" for over a YEAR after they " passed" on B5 far too many " coincidences " between the two

Great interview. All the actors in Babylon 5 were superb. If they do a reboot, Bruce needs to come back.

This show is timeless! I rewatch it once every few months because I am shocked how the storyline is even more relevant today than it was in the 90's!

@@FictionCautious I agree wholeheartedly! I think this show teaches important lessons, mainly how important it is not to do the easy thing but the right thing.

Bruce Boxleitner is pure class through and through. Amazing interview

It still saddens me that Michael O'Hare's health was failing and he had to leave the show. But, heck, who better to take over than Tron himself? Bruce Boxleitner, absolutely perfect in arguably his signature role; Captain John Sheridan! (And it was cool that they rounded off Sinclair's storyline by bringing O'Hare back for those three important episodes later on, too.) 👍👍👍

@@peppermintspacecapsule9898 I just got back into following Bruce Boxleitner's career and have discovered all kinds of awesome roles of his I've never seen before. It's wonderful!

This made my day. So great to see Bruce so well and youthful still these many years later.

I know that the people who were on this show aren't particularly young anymore, but it really feels like so many of them were taken from us before their time. Stay healthy, Bruce!

I know what you mean. But a sad fact is some of them had some serious life long illnesses. But it never showed in their acting. and a couple had some vices that caught up with them. and a couple just got sick and never recovered. No matter the reasons they were part of over lives even if we never met them personally and they are sadly missed. May we meet them all in a place where no shadows fall

One of the best shows of all time. Ominous feeling of impending doom in the show, definitely. Very relevant to today.

Hearing his voice brings back wonderful memories.

It's so promising to hear Bruce say it was a role he didn't want to leave. It sounds like he's hoping for a new series and that would be absolutely awesome.

Bruce Boxleitner is a really great actor that put real depths in all characters he played, so underrated.

Just watching B5 all the way through for the first time. Absolutely fantastic! Love Sheridan's character.

B-5 was done so well in a hundred years it'll still be relevant. Bruce and the whole cast was amazing👍.. cA

Mr. Boxleitner is a quality individual. Time to get out the box set again and watch quality entertainment.

Major Scarecrow and Mrs. King fangirl since the 80s. Not gonna lie: Bruce was the one who gave me an in into B5, and I will be forever grateful.

Hearing Bruce Boxleitner's voice is comforting .... it takes me back to the stories that were told on Babylon 5. This guy is an absolute legend in sci-fi.

A show that was so under rated on its day but its a much needed time for a modern day new series

No remake!!! Not for at least another five years, or until Hollywood goes back to being merely a bunch of greedy, doped-up, sex-crazed freaks, instead of the horrorshow they have become. Because back then, they were a bunch of COMPETENT greedy, doped-up, sex-crazed freaks.

Such a great character Bruce!

love both shows.. DS9 and Babylon 5,, both great shows.

Yeah, many people say that Ds9 ripped the idea off B5 because B5 was in production before Ds9 first released, but I don't care! Both amazing shows that will stick with me forever!

That was a fantastic interview, really enjoyed it. It made me realise how much I loved Babylon 5, and how much I miss it. Still one of my favourite TV shows to this day, absolutely loved it. I'll have to get round to watching it again soon ;)

Wonderful! Great to see that Bruce is still so fond of Babylon 5 and has such love for his co stars. I hope B5 finds a new audience now and has the resurgence in popularity that it has always deserved.

10:47 I'm not ashamed to admit I cried at Sheridan's passing but maybe more of the passing of the station it was a beautifully done, I first started watching B5 when it was aired over here in the UK it was shown at 11PM on channel 4 and I was a lifelong convert, I hold B5 and DS9 up as the gold standard of shows and in all the years since I dont think we have had better. The characters were just so deep and complex it's such a shame that so many of the actors the made them real have now passed, but no one is truly gone as long as they are remembered and loved.

yep me too. the only episode i saw only once but will watch again in the future.

The love for the show and his colleagues just radiates from this man. The brilliance of Babylon 5 was not just in the writing, but also in the absolutely perfect casting.

Great interview, Bruce is amazing and so was the show. Here's hoping for some kind of B5 revival.

His dialogues with Kosh today still sound just amazing! Great show, great story, great acting! He said, he felt some realism in B5, and I think, changing the commander of the station turned out to be such realistic twist. Not something you usually get in a scy-fy series. I know, it wasn't JMS's plan, but it happened and only made the show better! Both commanders were complex and so "alive". Much respect from Russian fans, Bruce!

My wife and I are going thru the series again on good ol' DVD, can't count how many times he have, but its a pleasure. So nice to see Bruce, so bittersweet to see the ones "exploring the rim"....

what a guy! love B5, love Bruce - my fave TV show ever.
