Brooklyn - Charlotte NC's Forgotten Thriving African American (Hebrew) Community
Brooklyn, a once thriving African American community located in the Second Ward district of Charlotte, NC from around the 1800's until 1977. It was completely torn down and built over by the City of Charlotte to build what is now known today as the "Downtown/Uptown" area of the city. The African American residents were forced out of their homes and away from their businesses without any help with replacement housing from the city and were, once again scattered. This video highlights the past, present and future of Brooklyn.
