And guess what, SPECIFICALLY in New Orleans it's better. If you venture like 45 min outside of New Orleans, Popeyes somehow changes. I always hear from Brits that our food isn't as greasy as they were expecting. And that tells me that maybe y'all are not doing something right over there across the pond. If fried food is greasy, your oil isn't hot enough. Or it's old and needs to be changed out. Gotta have your oil up to temp before you put food in it, otherwise the food will just absorb the oil and it'll come out greasy. When the oil is hot enough, the food starts cooking right away and it seals the food pretty quickly under the batter.

It’s hilarious how much the pickles add to the chicken sandwich. It just adds a perfect flavor along with the chicken, bun and mayo. Simple yet perfect.

A Popeyes opened near us recently and my mom wanted to get some. I said "Let me check the reviews first." It was like 2.8 stars out of 5. The words unprofessional, slow and ghetto were used in a lot of the complaints. I said "Bet!" so we went and got some. It was delicious.

Popeye's competition in the US in terms of global expansion in the fried chicken biz is Jollibee. KFC have been stagnant and the other good fried chicken shops in the US are kind of regional, unlike Popeye's where most Americans have ate or tasted it. So it's Popeye's turn to take that next step going global.

You have to try the spicy chicken sandwich ! OMG ! I am in love with it ! And of course the spicy chicken itself. Mild is good, but spicy let's you enjoy the flavors !

We don’t put gravy on Popeyes biscuits. The gravy we put on biscuits is a white, (usually) sausage gravy. Brown gravy tends to be more for meat, rice and potatoes.

I love them calling the chicken sandwich a “chicken burger” 🤣🤣🤣. Loved this! So happy they enjoyed it, as if it’s my recipe 😂

@@cf7833 yep, same here in the UK, pretty much everything between a bun is a burger. We are saying the same thing, I clarified that the reason why it’s called a hamburger is Hamburg, not because of literal “ham” (pork meat).

The fact that y’all didn’t give them Mardi Gras mustard, sweet heat sauce or jelly is ludicrous. But it also speaks volume to the quality and flavor of Popeyes. They were able to enjoy it without all the bells and whistles or even a drink lol.

To the woman who didn’t want her biscuit with gravy, but wanted it with jam, the answer is - go ahead. American biscuits are Bi, bi-flavourful. Have them with jam (strawberry, orange marmalade, raspberry, whatever you want), golden syrup, honey, sorghum syrup, etc. Or have them savoury, with fried chicken gravy, chicken fried steak gravy, red eye gravy, etc. Or serve them with hash (chopped up left-over roast - beef, chicken or turkey - dipped in a little flour, salt, and pepper, moistened with some water - not too much - and cooked up in a cast iron skillet where you’ve already sautéed chopped onions in butter or pork fat drippings (or lard) split open the biscuits fresh out of the oven and spoon the hash on top, OMG that is good! If you like meat pies I defy you to not fall in love with biscuits and hash. The difference is, unlike scones, you don’t add sugar or dried fruit to the biscuit dough so it can swing both ways😄 The other big difference is biscuits are rarely served at room temperature (they’re more crumbly in texture than scones and don’t hold up as well as scones when they go cold).

This place is made up of people who came from everywhere. They brought their food with them voluntarily (with the exception of Native people and kidnapped Africans}. Things changed over time as food cultures mixed together. Its own separate culture was created. I agree, it's not a bad thing.

The chicken sandwich is EPIC! 5/5 imho! AND i lived in Savannah another key location for great food!

Love when they tried the sandwiches. I wish they tried the sides. Red beans and rice or the Mac and cheese. They do this one apple pie desert, with whipped cream and cinnamon on top, so good.

When I saw the chicken sandwich, I said "Don't hurt'em." I knew once they took bites, it was a wrap! 😂😂

I go to Savannah over a bridge what's the first road I turn on the road with the Popeyes I have to test out myself to two times a month are all game back every pound I ever lost from trying to not do a lot of take out it's worth every freaking grain of fat calories bad whatever just make sure to eat lots of vegetables and fruit in between good people and walk and shake your booty honey!!!!! 🐓🐔

Today was the first time I've ever had Popeyes as they just opened up their first location in my city, and I can say HANDS DOWN it is the best fried chicken I've ever had, bar-none. Better than many homemade kinds I've had, better than KFC, better than Chic-Fil-A, It is DAMN GOOD CHICKEN. They know what they're doing.

They need, I said NEED, to eat the chicken with some jalapeno peppers! That's the way we do it in Louisiana, and all across our sister southern states!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is two great tastes that taste great together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Literally, "I'm taking big bites in case you try and take it away." I get it. I laughed so hard from that. Popeye's is the spot!

Its amazing how our cultures express the same way even if our lingo, and circumstances are different. Sometimes they sound southern to me when they're excited; it's like hearing how their accent became ours.

I’m from New Orleans and decided to check out the Popeyes in Hong Kong when I was there. Instead of Cajun seasoning (e.g. cayenne pepper, paprika), they used Chinese Five Spice (e.g. star anise, cloves, cinnamon). It wasn’t bad at all, but very very different.

They forgot to give the honey with the biscuits. You are correct, Popeyes biscuit will choke you to death without the honey. Also, we have scones and they are not biscuits.

Our biscuits are their scones, and their biscuits are our cookies. It's like jelly/jam/jello, what we call jelly they call jam and what we call jello they call jelly.

@@the2tum I don’t think that’s entirely true. Popeyes biscuits are dense similar to how scones are dense but many biscuit recipes in the US are light and flaky and not all like scones. I watched some UK KZreadrs try flaky biscuits and say they didn’t have anything exactly like that in Britain. I don’t think anyone would ever cover a scone with sausage gravy because of all the sugar in scones. And we also eat scones in the US. Ours usually have fruit in them.

I’m just seeing this 🤩🤚I tried my 1st Popeyes this month & I CAN SAY THE SAME. Extraordinary. Fresh flavours. It’s like Popeyes is the fried chicken shop ‘all other’s was imitating but just couldn’t do it 100%’. It takes you out of this country 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿with its uniquely satisfying flavours. I tried both wings with the bbq wings being my favourite 😍👍🏾. I tried both burgers with the bbq one being my favourite. I also tried the infamous “biscuit” & also felt it a (crumbling/flaky) JAMAICAN 🇯🇲FRIED DUMPLING 🤨 The Fries? 😋🤤🤚I tried plain & Cajun (spicy) fries and; I HAVE NOT EVER HAD A FRIE LIKE IT. It was a gift from God Ijn to of found a new ‘Popeyes’ in MY LOCAL AREA 🤩😍🤩. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It felt like I had travelled to America ✈️ 🏨 🏖 without any of the hassle, expense & stress. 100 out of 10 🙌🏾🙏🏾👋🏾🇬🇧

Popeyes is amazing !!! fresh never greasy ..ask for sprinkles it’s extra seasoning omg 🤤 I dip my chicken in the mash potatoes lawd !!! So good
