This is painfully accurate. Waffle House just… idk, you think you’re on the set of an action-adventure film and someone’s gonna barge in at any second waving a gun and demanding people’s wallets.
Originally it was "International" because they offered different varieties of pancakes and crepes, sweet and savory, from around the world. Over time the pancakes/crepes took a back seat. When I was a kid I think they had varieties from 25-30 countries and the A-frame restaurants were strewn with the flags of all the nations represented. They also used to have a lot more than just 4 syrups.

iHOP used to have an "International" breakfast menue with such things as Swedish Pancakes, German Potato Pancakes, something British I think, can't remember what it was as didn't sound worth eating, Mexican Omelets, etc -- Their new menu has put an end to that "international" flavor (s) much to the downgrading of the food.

IHOP is okay. They rank as a family restaurant, like Denny’s. They added to their menu over the decades. If you want really great hotcakes from a chain, try The Original House of Pancakes. They started out in our Pacific Northwest. The first one I went to was in the 80s and outside of San Diego. I think Cathedral City. Just before I moved out of the Riverside area they opened one near Norco. The difference is huge. But expect to wait to be seated unless you get there early. They are a good sized and very popular. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. The pancakes always came warm enough to melt the butter. Unlike IHOP’s. Do ask for extra butter if you are getting a stack.

@frejamller2416 I have had plenty of foreign co-workers and friends tell me the same thing! I'm known to be the person who will drive you around to those places, just so you can have the "typical" experience. Just for reference, the reason she left the coffee with them on the table was definitely because they were outside. Sometimes IHOP doesn't if they're busy, but usually, if you are inside, most diners in America, the waitress will come over and fill your coffee cup several times. They actually do more running and more work than anyone serving lunch or dinner, but breakfast prices are so low that even if you calculate the tip correctly, it's still not much. I always try to tip the waitresses extra at breakfast, because they're doing more legwork

@@LindaC616 Ohhh that makes sense with them being outside. One part of me is like "Oh nice, free refills. Wish we had that" but another part of me also finds it ridiculous how much time they have to spend on going back and forth. Would make me feel bad as a customer 😅. I come from Denmark but have also lived in England, so I´m used to the whole "you get what you paid for"-thing, as those two countries are pretty similar at that point. I´ve also lived several years in Korea tho, and there, you can free refills for for example water, but you usually go up and get it yourself. In Denmark, even water is often not refill 😭😭. I don´t know. It might be a Scandinavian/European thing or because I´ve been a waitress myself, but I´m so used to making myself as little as possible as a customer. I don´t wanna be in the way or give them more work than necessary. Very nice of you to tip them extra tho. I´m sure they really appreciate it 🙏.
I know this video is already a month old, and I know a lot of people have a tendency to skip over the sponsor - but I'm always really grateful when BetterHelp sponsors people! I truly think that every person on earth could benefit from therapy, but it does tend to be pretty pricey. That being said, it's really nice that there are channels like JOLLY who use the service and will use the sponsor to help you get a discount on something you might genuinely need. I think mental health should be universal, same as physical health, as a Canadian. So, thank you for helping people take steps in the right direction when they might feel like they don't have any options.

Make your own. Never understood people acting like coconut syrup was some big ta-do. It's nothing but coconut milk and corn syrup. Pecan Butter syrup is almost as easy. Add toasted pecans, a spoon of melted butter and a bit of vanilla extract to regular pancake syrup. Fruit syrups are made by cooking whatever fruit in a small pan with sugar (and a bit of cornstarch if it needs thickening) and stir until thickened. Here's a budget saving tip - instead of draining canned fruit liquid down the sink, use it for those expensive pancake syrups. Add some sugar and maybe some cornstarch, heat to thicken and done!

Josh and Ollie, one thing to consider when you go out for breakfast in the U.S. is that if the server does not leave the pot of coffee on the table as they do at IHOP, to consider how many times they have come back and forth to refill your coffee. Doing a standard tip at breakfast time doesn't leave much, since breakfast prices tend to be lower. But breakfast servers do more running, in my opinion, then lunch and dinner. So I try to leave them a little extra at breakfast time

Not the different than routine Liege style made with more of a dough than batter, but still.... the classic round Belgian Waffle (whipped cream/strawberries) is present. French toast can be traced all the way back to Ancient Rome (Pan Dulcis) and therefore it **does** qualify as international... BUT as far as modern day Americans are concerned, the modern style was whipped up by some guy named Joseph French who didnt use the possessive on the name... so that's why it has that label. Similarly "German Chocolate Cake" has NOTHING AT ALL to do with Germany. Mind blowing when people from different genres meet. More please!!!!
What a great collab, guys! Thanks ❤
LMAO at "bouncy ham" 🤣
What a nice surprise to see Steven share an IHOP breakfast with you!
More Steven Ho please. I'm glad Josh and Ollie have some great hosts for their American food tour.
Your opening shot reminds me of how in undergrad we used to hang out in the local IHOP parking lot of our college town waiting for it to open in the morning.
So excited for all these episodes on the back log while Ollie heals up as well as the max in Korea series. Can’t wait to see carrot land when it’s ready

Ach : what happened to Josh!?!
You needed to get the cheesecake pancakes. They are to die for. Absolutely incredible.
I love that they are willing to try everything and anything on here. 👍🏼
And IHOP is in 21 different countries, so I think the term International does apply... even if it's not in the UK. Also, maybe the word "International" describes the cuisine they once or still offer, not where it is. Kind of like "International House London", or "London International Airport" which is just in London, by the way, lol. Countries that have IHOPs: United States, Mexico, Canada, Puerto Rico, Panama, Ecuador, Guam, India, Pakistan, Peru, Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Bahrain, Guatemala, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Lebanon, Philippines, and Northern Mariana Islands.
“It feels..safer” 😂😭 the realest comparison
I been waiting for this
My former girlfriend originally hailed from England and I would often visit IHOP for the night breakfast at 02.00 in the morning. We always ordered corned beef hash as side dish. I miss IHOP after I moved back to Germany...

Corned Beef and Hash! I grew up with it in the Midwest and it's not typically found in North Florida restaurants. I miss it so much 😋
Steven and Jolly??? Amazing. Invite Austin, Rich, and Ben next time, too, please : )
Two of my favorite KZread channels I one video. Love it.
That was awesome!!! LOL You guys crack me up. Shout out from SAC CA in US.
He switched to be a full-time stand-up comedian? Wow, mad props to him for having the courage. And he has 6 years of stage experience, neat. This guy is definitely much deeper than I thought him to be, gotta change the way I read people and surely I'm gonna dig this guy's work
IHOP has locations outside the U.S. as well! They're in Canada, Mexico, Peru, Ecuador, Guatemala, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, India and Pakistan (source: Wikipedia). And Canadian teams also participate in the World Series.
Love the I feel the food coma starting lol
7:18 Josh is so easily impressed 😅 That's exactly how I spread the butter/syrup if I have more than one pancake
