Love that this video is 99% students who had to watch this.

Ok, but why are schools spreading this idea of British Values? like, why are they specifically calling these British values. there are plenty of other people that hold these values. They are just good values to hold.

i see we are all students here xD

1) these values are not exclusively British 2) most British people would come up with a different list

Working class British values: 1: Mum is in charge of everything.(regardless of what dad says) 2: Pancake day is the boss holiday. 3: The British summer is a much loved week in late June when it’s actually sunny. Respect it.

I learned in my college for British Values yesterday but already I respect others

Areeb- I found this video on British values very useful for the course I am completing, a lot of good points made.

Well lets hope the British government can abide by these rules.

Are values things we should do? or things we already believe in and do?

A bit too glib and naive. Surely we are not allowing the Home Office to decide what ‘our’ values are as a population? And what happens when the UK government flouts these values? What makes these “British’ values anyway?

These British values seem remarkably vanilla to me. What about teamwork? What about putting your best foot forward? What about pragmatic common sense? What about personal responsibility? What about honesty? What about a sense of class, and humour? What about forgiveness and giving people the benefit of the doubt? What about a hint of mischief and cheering on the underdog? What about restraint in moments of anger? What about not giving up once committed to the fight?

Not so simple as that - none of these are particularly New Testament based principles. But key Christian concepts about individual responsibility from Paul and Augustine strained and reimagined through the humanist and enlightenment thinkers and the various constitutional crisis of the 16-18th cent… that’s broadly what makes us us. Including being so irreligious. The beauty of CofEism is it’s a for most people a very do nothing faith. More to the point no one has the guts to point out what Islam has thrown up. Grotesque dictatorship and extremism

The idea that we shouldn’t impose our beliefs on others is a value which unfortunately I do not agree with. I think it’s necessary sometimes

These values are the values imposed on us by our government. Where is there democracy in having your values handed down to you to cater to the government's immigration policy? Where is the individual liberty if I can't choose my own values. This is just another one of those pointless slogans. Respect is a basic law of the universe. Living in Britain is liked being in nursery school for your entire life.

I was doing a online corse that push this "British values" so I looked on some videos on what it actually is, so thought I leave a comment to point out its subversion on what make Great Britain actully great, as the video gives the impression that the british are politically correct pushovers, then prideful individuals with convictions to think for one self to be free and prosperous. Is this a late comment, yes, have I have the right ro comment back, I am free to do so to share my thoughts in a fun way. So even if my words are near pointless exercise to give a responsive to this video, I comment for myself, it got you to comment my words so it must have effects.
