These British values seem remarkably vanilla to me. What about teamwork? What about putting your best foot forward? What about pragmatic common sense? What about personal responsibility? What about honesty? What about a sense of class, and humour? What about forgiveness and giving people the benefit of the doubt? What about a hint of mischief and cheering on the underdog? What about restraint in moments of anger? What about not giving up once committed to the fight?

These values are the values imposed on us by our government. Where is there democracy in having your values handed down to you to cater to the government's immigration policy? Where is the individual liberty if I can't choose my own values. This is just another one of those pointless slogans. Respect is a basic law of the universe. Yuck - just yuck. These are generic post enlightenment European values! Fine ones certainly. But not in any sense British. British values are a misnomer because there have been different cultural emphasises in each of the constituent nations in the Union. And some of those values themselves contradict these generic liberal values - it’s hard to see how mutual respect characterises the deep seated Catholic v Protestant values of so many communities in Scotland, Liverpool, and Ireland above all, or how democracy actually obtains when the head of state, the Lords and the Church’s bishops (who are also in parliament for some ancient reason) are totally unelected but appointed by birth and crony patronage… I could think of other glaring examples for the other two but you get the drift

Not so simple as that - none of these are particularly New Testament based principles. But key Christian concepts about individual responsibility from Paul and Augustine strained and reimagined through the humanist and enlightenment thinkers and the various constitutional crisis of the 16-18th cent… that’s broadly what makes us us. Including being so irreligious. The beauty of CofEism is it’s a for most people a very do nothing faith. More to the point no one has the guts to point out what Islam has thrown up. Grotesque dictatorship and extremism

This surely must be the cherry coated version. We are proud terrorists and pirates, we loot, we murder causing famine and wars, we divide, we rule and we take what does not belong to us. Our historical actions are still implemented in all those countries that we have terrorised (fancy English: colonised). I am proud to be a British colonising terrorist. Prevent has ruined my life. This strategy is a joke. They claim to deradicalise but it does not. All that happens is they question you and confront you. They don't even try to deradicalise. They put you on a watchlist and watch every move you do and they watch every move your family does even if there is no link of terrorism of your family or you. They don't even get a muslim religious teacher to try to guide you. This group infact ruined my mental health and my depression has increased. I wanted to die but thankfully I chose to not kill myself. They have caused me mental health problems and paranoia. Everywhere I walk I keep looking at people to see if they are undercover police. This is how serious my mental health has been ruined. I don't even want to harm anyone. I am severely depressed now.

I was doing a online corse that push this "British values" so I looked on some videos on what it actually is, so thought I leave a comment to point out its subversion on what make Great Britain actully great, as the video gives the impression that the british are politically correct pushovers, then prideful individuals with convictions to think for one self to be free and prosperous. Is this a late comment, yes, have I have the right ro comment back, I am free to do so to share my thoughts in a fun way. So even if my words are near pointless exercise to give a responsive to this video, I comment for myself, it got you to comment my words so it must have effects.
