Pure old school hip hop. Mixmaster Mike, world champ DJ. No way they'd be ridiculed if they came out with it now. This is so difficult to get right - that's why there's so few rappers and DJs that can do it.

This tune would be huge if it came out to day, pure classic hip hop

These guys were HUGE in the late 80s and all the way into the 2000s. This is from mid 90s. And the best dj to ever touch the turn tables...Mix master mike...is a legend. Great choice!

You got it exactly right with "just being with your mates and being silly". That basically summarized The Beastie Boys whole career. And they made a whole Artform from it too.

So great to see your videos return, always enjoy your views. As for the song, this is from 1998. The thing that I have always loved about the Beastie Boys and what I think made them so important from their beginning until MCA's death in 2012 was that they had no limits to what they would try or what boundaries they'd push. While the majority of their work is straight old school hip hop, they also ventured back to their roots as a hardcore band occasionally and then in 2007 they decided to release an instrumental funk/jazz/rock record for their own enjoyment. Mix Master Mike in the 90's was massively influential and he spent many years as BB's live DJ and his own solo stuff is really cool too.

Heck yeah! :-D On point. Beastie Boys were silly fun in the best way, right from the start! Not a fan of rap generally, still followed the beginnings (yeah I am this old), and when these guys showed up, it was really a kind of unconventional fun that was unique. Generally liked many of their crazy video ideas, this one included. It is interesting to see this from a nowadays perspective, still holds up very well! Great to have you back with reactions! It's a warm feeling.

Beastie Boys are fun MCs. They did it for 30+ years with all kinds of collaborators and people they influenced and were influenced by. They helped other rappers and got helped by other rappers and they will always be foundational hip hop.

This came out in 1999 off of their Hello Nasty album. I was 14 when License to Ill came out and I've loved them every since. When Adam Yauch died and they stopped performing, old school Rap died too. Rest in Peace Adam. You can review almost everything they've done and it will be sick.

The Beastie Boys are the most fun. And they have the most fun as a group. And we who love/listen to them have the most fun. Best beats and bars for me personally.
