I love all the similarities I find between your recreation of Britannian and my language (Catalan), both lexically (jo parl, vosaltres, nosaltres, ell for he, etc.) and grammatically. I feel as if, if Britannian existed, Catalan/Occitan, French and Britannian would be mutually comprehensible even to this day.

I like the idea of creating a posteriori conlangs. If I came up with a conlang, it would sound "Indo-European". Yes, it is very simple and unoriginal, but my knowledge of linguistics is very poor and is mainly limited to Germanic, Romance and Slavic languages (I am Russian, I speak Russian, of course, English, Spanish, I know a little of German and currently I'm learning Italian). I couldn't add anything from "non-Indo-European" languages like Chinese, Arabic, Turkish or Swahili. In this case, you create a world based on Europe (like Middle-earth, Westeros or the world of The Witcher), with its own languages or groups of languages that have features of "Indo-European" languages, but are not copies of them. Creating an a posteriori language would be an interesting work for me, as I like to learn how phonetic changes occurred in Indo-European languages, and I often think about how a particular language could sound in the event of an alternative course of history. For example, the Gothic language with the influence of Slavic languages (not my idea, actually), the Scandinavian language with the influence of Old Russian, as if the Swedish or Danish Vikings seized the lands in the north of Rus', or the Romance languages did not come from Latin, but from Koine Greek and were, respectively, "Neo-Greek".

On you stating that you're done with the project for the most part, moving on from a project is completely respectable, and is often the smart thing to do. I hope you enjoy your future endeavors.

So I ended up just making the Britannian Info Page a Google Doc so that I can share it online and y'all can see the sections. Its a lot of pages and a lot of words and I wanted to make it easier to navigate. Like in Jèrriais and Guernesiais, in Louisianais (Louisiana French and Louisiana Creole), we have retained some of those aspirated Hs from Old French, in words like "haut(e)," "hacher," and "haine" (along with the verb of the same root, "haïr"). Awesome channel! I can't believe I'm only just stumbling across it!

Cool to see this update! (tho im way late, lol.) Britannian is similar to a conlang idea ive had rolling around in my head for a while, an alternate version of French where Frankish had a much larger effect on Old French than it actually did irl, something along the lines of Normand's influence on English, bringing over a lot of vocabulary. Your techniques for constructing Britannian sound like a sane way to go about such a project.

Note: As an arab who speaks arabic and is from north africa well the dialect of al andalus would've not evolved much, like yeah it might've sounded more berber(?) Or latin than the other accents if we gave it more time but ultimately it would be understandable

I appreciate the update video. Given that conlangs are pretty much a form of art, and that art is pretty much a support system for life (as said by the famous Stephen King), it only makes sense that you move on from this project so you can live your life.

Nice that you uploaded britannian again,I liked the former version also, further I also had made a conlang where I take romance trough a dutch sound change model and Geldermansch was born, you maybe also could try to build a romance language like that, would be fun to compare the end products, my Geldermansch is a difficult project though ,cause It requires lots of study and creativity in case some infirmation is guess work,or un findable, the project at now is at a hold cause I work on an easier romance conlang, but I already got lots of vocabulary, only my model of sound change notes are evrywhere! 😅 Ps I tambien estoy estudiante de español 🇪🇦 and my current conlang 'ha leyngva' takes heavy inspiration from ibero romance, but with my own (some very exotic) twists.

Castilian Spanish developed the voiceless dental /θ/ by two methods, /ts/ > /θ/ & word final /ð/ > /θ/, the latter happening also in Old French (thats how we get the word "faith")
