    I was totally expecting a Canada win but thought it would be 2-1. There is a lot more to the team than Davies. Herdman told his midfield not worry about letting the US control possession. He was confident they wouldn't create lots of chances. He was right. The header by McKennie saved by Borjan was the only real chance. Pulisic sucked. He better hope Tuchel isn't watching this window.

    The U.S. media & fans felt that the 1st goal was poor because Turner made a poor kick and the U.S. defenders were slow to react; but for Canadians, it was a beautiful play and goal! Greg Berhalter came out before the match and said that the U S. had super wide wingers, so Canada's coach chose the stadium in Hamilton, Ontario, because the pitch is much narrower. LoL! Also, Canada was also missing their 2nd best centre midfielder, Atibi Hutchinson. He may be old; but he is still playing really well.

    The only cold city Canada chose on purpose was Edmonton because it usually is very cold in November there, they counted on the snow and it gave an advantage against Mexico. In the dead of winter, it's cold everywhere. Americans also have players from cold areas of the country so the weather wouldn't effect them as much.

  • @imaratspal

    @@wisemanofsorts6068 It was MUCH colder than that, actually. Even reached -19, Honduran players had hypothermia, a couple of players got subbed off at half-time because of that but to your point, yes, that's not an excuse. You're playing in Canada in winter, it's going to be cold. The ONLY place with a warmer climate in Winter (above 0) is Vancouver and the only reason the game wasn't there was because travel would be more of a pain to and from Central America for Canada.

  • @sandroh7573
    @sandroh75732 жыл бұрын

    Just to clarify, the picking of venues to benefit a team is done by most teams in the concacaf. Its honestly horrible and it should be banned by concacaf. (create minimum and maximum temperature requirements for games to take place) The US did this recently against Honduras choosing to play in freezing conditions that resulted in 2 Honduras players getting hypothermia even though they could have played anywhere in the southern US to avoid these conditions. It was also done against the US where they were told to play mid-day against a central american team in 30+ degree weather. To defend Canada I will say that in the winter, anywhere in Canada is freezing cold so there isn't much choice in playing in a warm venue. The US could just decide to play in the south so there really isn't an excuse for something like that. (This is likely also the case with central american countries having too humid/hot conditions all the time although playing at night could solve almost this issue)

    Hockey still rules the Canadian psyche, but football has been making steady strides. Jamaican immigrants in the 1960s brought their hot spicy cuisine and their hot spicy game. Subsequent waves of South Asians, Central Americans and Africans supplied us with talented players, and young kids to grow up into the sport. The great advantage of "soccer" is that kids can play it in any park or empty lot without spending a fortune on equipment. As long as it still snows, hockey will continue to hold Canadian hearts, but in summertime, football is the future.

    You're totally right man! Us Canadian's are completely gassed! The hype is real! If we can win our next three games, we could rank in the top 25, and actually end up in Pot 3 during the April 1 Group draw, which could give us a decent enough group to get through the Group Stage. Now my money is not on them winning the whole thing (obviously), but dude if Canada can actually make it past the group stage, and possibly the Round of 16, they could actually set themselves up to be a force to be recokened with, if not at this World Cup, in 4 years when they co-host the damn thing.

    As a Canadian, I thought we MIGHT have a chance to qualify... Had no idea we'd be this GOOD. It's Crazy. Every World Cup, Canadians adopt a team, usually from their home country. I don't know how we'd do in the hot weather in Qatar, but it's going to be epic.

    Basically, Canada played a low block, USA had possession and couldn't beat the low block, Canada countered well and won the game.

    06:30 Canada picked the colder city of Edmonton when they played Costa Rica and Mexico. Against the US they went back to the Toronto area since Hamilton is near TO and the US is more used to the cold but what they did here was narrow the pitch to 68 meters since Burhalter was talking up their wing play against Canada.

    @@nfbaseballvideos ah. Okay. Still, from what I've heard, the field was wide enough to have been played at a more normal width, but they narrowed it on purpose.

    Other US fans might hate him, but I feel that Zardes' age and experience are a good reason to have him in the national team camp. He also played under Berhalter while he coached Colombus Crew, so of course Gregg is familiar with his talents. For those reasons I feel that he is a better option than Sargent at the moment.

    Gregg is familiar with nothing. He needs the fans on social media to tell him what to do, then when he doesn't and fails, he eventually does what we want, since we were right all along. Zardes is NOT talented. He offers nothing, his "experience" is worthless and he should not even be on the roster.

    I like how he thinks Canada deliberately chose its "coldest cities". Um, no. I'm from Canada, and, well, just about every city in Canada is cold in the winter, except for maybe Victoria and Vancouver. What do you think Canada is, dude?

    It wasn't the biggest issue this game, but Zardes should not be starting imo. We have too many strikers who do more than him and are younger and more fit. Pepi, Ferrera, Sargent, Dike, Pefok, Gioacchini, Hoppe, etc. It's also worth noting that zardes hasn't played a competitive match since like November of last year lol

    If Canada wanted to mess with teams, they would play in Alberta, Saskatchewan, or Nova Scotia. Those are easily the coldest provinces in Canada. Hamilton at -6C is actually not bad compared to -20, -26, and so on.

    As an American this result is disappointing but not surprising. John Herdman is getting Canada to play better than the sum of their parts to the point where they still play well despite missing their best players. It's the complete opposite for the US, they are clearly the most talented team in the region but they aren't playing close to their level. The problem I have with Berhalter is two-fold: he seems to play favorites and lets that affect his player selection and he is incredibly stubborn and does not like to be flexible with his tactics. Now an example for each, he used to coach Zardes and it's obvious that he's more lenient on players he likes. He regularly will drop players like Sargent, Pepi, Brooks, etc. for having a bad game but when Zardes, Arriola, Lletget, and others have bad games they continue to get called up. Greg does not change the 4-3-3 formation and his style of play makes the team predictable; play out from the back, get the ball out wide, ping crosses and hope for the best. That's how the US has been playing, no fluidity, no creativity in the midfield.
