You are extremely lucky! ❤ I think for a name (and I haven’t met the horse so you know best but) simba or mufasa would be PERFECT because of his stunning long mane. Yea, something lion king related would be great keep it up girl! ❤ You are a inspiration ❤

Do you want to know what impressed me the most, Shea? The way he came to the front of the stall door and waited 1. To be haltered, and then 2. To be led out. There was no pushiness at all to get out of the stall. He stood patently for you to give him direction as to what was going to happen next. Then, while you were leading him, he didn't crowd you at all. He gave a total respect of space. Whoever trained him, and I realize he's only 6 years old, did a very good job!! Well done them!!! Merry Christmas to you and Kyle, all your students and channel supporters, as well. I wish you a great day spent with the horses and this handsome, gorgeous buckskin boy!! Your friend, the Retired Paramedic and Horse Trainer, on baby watch for number 3!! A stunning black colt born 2 days ago, and he's going to stay black as well, as his stud only ever throws black, and the mare is dark bay, and a filly born 1 week ago today. @348Tobico I have a favorite girl this year. She's a purebred Arabian mare that I helped rescue. It took the owner and I 2 years to get her healthy again from what the previous owner had done to her. She still bears the whip scars from him. But he's in jail now, which is great. He fought it, though. All the way to the Supreme Court of Canada, and when he gets out of jail in 14 years time, he's not allowed to ever own any 2 legged, 3 legged or 4 legged animals ever again. If he does, he goes right back into jail and must serve the full time remaining on his sentence, which is 45 years. But she's healthy and happy, and she's never leaving where she is. Same with her first foal, born on Christmas Eve morning 2 years ago. Her name is Yada Yada Yada Miracle. She is one of Khemosabi's last foals. Now she's back 2 yrs later. She holds a special place in my heart and always will. The owner is hoping for a colt from her so she could breed some of her other mares to him when he's old enough. Time will tell. It looks like she might be the next one to have her foal.

He has a double mane. Lots of Gypsy’s have them. I put the individual mane braids in a sock (cotton and polyester). It keeps them clean. I just change the socks about every 2-3 weeks. The socks keep them from get dirty and breaking off. I use castor oil (3 Parts) and Neem oil (1 part). That way you can condition without dirt attaching to them. It strengthens the hair with less breakage and tangles. I’m so excited for you. Wish I could attach a picture to show you. My girl’s mane is past her knees.

I worry about the ends of those braids hitting him in the eyes when his head is down, so I would either double the ends, or do semi-french braids to move the dangling part of the braids farther back from his face. Or a combo of both. Such a gorgeous mane. You just want to comb and braid it. I think that is where I am with horses these days, I don't want to ride, I just want to groom them. :)

@@AL-lz1hb I’ll try to describe how they work. I use woman’s mid calf size socks. At the top of the sock in the middle you cut towards the heel, about 3-4 inches. That gives you two strains to be able to tie. Like putting the mane into a bag. You braid the mane and leave the ends without rubber bands. The rubber bands will rip the mane. Never use rubber bands. If you want to secure the ends use white electrical tape. It doesn’t rip the hair and it’s stays on rain or shine. Condition the mane then turn the sock inside out and starting at the heel fold the mane into the sock. Now you have the mane completely in the sock. Pull the sock up to top where the braid starts and thread the cut sock ends through the braid. Tie the loose ends together very tight twice. Rain or snow they stay clean and dry. Every couple of weeks I replace each sock with a clean one after conditioning the mane again. You don’t need to rebraid. I launder the dirty ones so they’re ready for the next time. That’s probably more than you really care to hear. 🥴 however after trying so many suggestions this has made my life so much easier and her mane is silky soft and not matted.

@@rolandadesrosiers-lewis744 Fantastic. You should make a video. I'm sure it would get oodles of views. We were always told to remove braids after a show in case the braids got rubbed and you'd lose chunks of mane which would look ugly for everyday and be a nightmare when next plaiting for shows. OMG you could really mix up the socks having all matching or multicoloured.🤔🤭

Dear Shae, just a couple of tips: Don't braid your horses hair with rubber bands. They break and get pulled out with the rubber when you take it out. I have a Frisian Stallion and the only way I keep his mane growing is keeping it braided all the time and tie it with insulation tape (duct tape). I also use tail bags (or old socks) to keep the braids from tangling in hay nets or branches. To avoid scratching the mane on your hay feeders, you can use those lycra neck mane tamers ( Sleazy Hoods). And for your trick training: When you ask for the Spanish Walk touch his leg with your whip on the front between the knee and the shoulder. The touch on the back of the leg between the fetlock and the knee is the cue for the lay down, start with the cue at the same time as you use your hand or rope to ask him down. Always use a word command when you do this, because you do not want him going down every time you want to pick his hooves or do farrier work. Another easy way to keep trick and every day chores apart, is to look and stand toward his tail for picking his hoof up and to his head for the trick. When you ask for the Spanish Walk keep touching him until he extends his foreleg to the front, not just hitting the ground. To teach the Spanish Walk "walking" it is easier to teach the Polka first. You ask for a lifting and extension of the leg one step and then pull him 2 normal steps forward. Than you ask him to lift the other leg and pull him 2 steps forward again. It is easier for the horse and they get it pretty quick to raise and extend AND step forward. Sorry for the novel, but Trick Training is my passion. I am happy to give you tips on any trick you would like to know more about. Sending you and your loved ones much love and light, happy Yule! Greetings from Guatemala.

A few tips for horses with lots of mane: 1.Detangler Detangler Detangler then slowly work your way up the mane/tail when brushing 2.make your braids a little looser at the top so the hair doesn't rip when he stretches his neck 3. Use electrical tape/med tape to tie the braids together instead of rubber bands 4. Mane and tail bags are life savers Oh! And for the hay situation, old tractor tires (like the really big ones) work wonders Hopefully, this helps just a little :) Good luck on your journey!

Hi Buckskin friend! I work for the IBHA and would love you to register this man! I love his hair, clearly inherited from the Friesian and Clydesdale :) Just an FYI, we refer to our colored beauties as just Buckskins or a Buckskin Mare/Gelding/Stallion its easier to identity as Buckskins are not a breed but a breed color registration started in 1971! We have a World Championship Show in July in Indiana!!!!!! IBHA now has color testing available through UC Davis. I really love your channel full of color and education, hope to see you at IBHA!

His coloring, mane and feathers look like the Gypsy Vanner, but his movement and elegance remind me of Friesians. All of those breeds seem very sweet natured. What a wonderful combination - the best of each breed! I was thinking the same thing - the bale barn issue needs quick attention! Can’t wait to see your fancy braiding skills develop.
