Bring a Spare - Takedown Animation Concept
Ойындар
Challenged myself with creating a simple takedown animation similar to the ones seen in Call of Duty and Battlefield games. This is just an animation, there's no actual game behind it.
I'm not sure if this idea has been done before, either by other animators or in actual games. If it wasn't, then you are more than welcome to implement it. Ideas cannot be copyrighted, and I'd actually be happy to see a professional take on this one!
Created with Source Filmmaker. © Valve 2024.
Motion capture done with @NOITOMMOCAP Perception Neuron 2.
Additional animations by Mixamo, Motorica, and various Unreal Marketplace authors.

The real spare was the guy jumping around corners that we made along the way
The fact this was all made in SFM of all things is truly awe-inspiring.

S2FM, pretty important distinction but yes
"Remember, switching to your pistol is faster than reloading your pistol" -Watermelon Killer 2007
i love the gag of the next guy having like 10 frames of him jumping out before it cuts to them either injured or prone
"buh vlad, cod finishers last 4 seconds and yours lasts 5!!" I know. It was kinda hard to put this entire sequence in such a short period of time without it looking sped up and goofy (I'm looking at you, Black Ops Cold War). That, and I also did these half a second camera transitions that are absent in the games. I'm sure pros at Infinity Ward or Treyarch could choreograph this one perfectly.

could make it a bit longer by making the character grab the spare off the enemy. Use their pistol against em

Don't feel bad. Finishers in COD Mobile last half a minute (I'm not joking, for some reason there's 5 seconds of the operator doing nothing then going up to tap the target on the shoulder)

wouldn't that be funny if instead throwing his empty gun, player gesturing his hand to give enemy's pistol? enemy confused while slowly unholster his gun and quickly player grab it and shoot him instead? talking about death by his own gun.

post launch section is unrealistic, they would leave the game on the first frame of the animation
Even the ragdoll spazzing out at the end is top notch
Authentic Post-game indeed, especially the operators and weapon skins
This is both hilarious and badass af. If I was ever making a video game with takedowns I'd hired you in an instant.
the only thing that would have made this whole thing even better if it was visible why the first pistol failed, like a slight oppening of the slide or something indicating a malfunction. But that aside this looks really really REALLY good for SFM. Also funny ragdoll and Blahaj :]
The real spare were the friends we made along the way.
the corner jumpers, wild
can't wait to see this in cod :)
I clicked on this mans Bio, hes from Antarctica
Absolutely gorgeous, enjoy the new sub and keep up this gorgeous work of art!
Awesome. Pushing the boundaries of the source filmmaker.
Hunk looking good pulling off these finishers
Funny and also looks nice, well done.
There is something so personal about the smack with the empty pistol on the injured variation.
someone hire this guy
These are actually crazy good
you made me think of that "A-Pose assert dominance" takedown animation. hilarious content man. keep going ^^ hope you're doing great these day :D
This is criminally underrated
I find it funny how you walk up behind a guy with a g36c in your hands and you decide to use your handgun to kill instead
Крутая задумка, креативно, но без перебора, который порой бывает в некоторых анимациях добивания... Почему-то вспомнился фильм Хардкор, там тоже были интересные способы убийства противников, так ещё и удалось красиво их показать от первого лица)
Not sure what's going on with bombthatisfat down there... probably is cranky and needs a snack and nap time. But this is fresh and fun. Great work.
Very smooth animation, and a funny idea. I like it!
Would love to see more of this. I loved Cold Wars animations for this scenario where you steal the enemies sidearm and turn it on them.
The one from injured looked so good
Больше всего в бонусном клипе ждал, что второй пистолет тоже окажется пустым)
the thing i don't like is pulling out 3rd person view animation in 1st person view games. (Yeah, sure. I do want 3rd person view animation when someone else is doing it, but I mean I want to stay in 1st person view when I do it.)
These Dudshots should have a 5-10% chance to start playing
Das rlly good.
Now that's quality
this is awesome
Awesome Sauce
this is a great animation
That's so cool but I think if on the injured execution if the person executing were to throw the pistol with more force it would look better
Gotta love the Wilhelm scream
That was awesome! I would love to see it on BO6
Looks good. I think the idea of not ensuring all your weapons are always working, especially the ones you aren’t using yet, is a bit silly, but the animation look good.
The only time that random decorative gun attached to the plate carrier would be used.
I love it
Bud wake up, Someone actually playing a game inside of sfm😭😭
Full compliment dog, but this is just great. Idk if you're just buff and deserve a girlfriend, and you're the one mocapping, but the throw is just fucking full force brutal. Looks like the guy in the video knows exactly how to throw stuff, like a baseball pitcher. The shoulders move very convincingly, and it's apparent that there's weight involved in their movements. Fake gameplay is very cute, convincing, and does nothing but show your skill at not just animation, but mastery of other elements entirely. Idk, I think you should quit making music man, your talents clearly lie in the animation industry.
Not gonna lie I love this finisher. I originally though this is a kind of reload, since every execution gives you a new pistol XD
Sick
this was done in sfm? hats off to you then

i like this concept
Mr death . In his usual work
I imagined the victim giving him spare mags
Hunk isnt playing games.
The ragdoll adds flavor
ngl my brain kinda expected him to keep throwing more pistols like that knife throwing scene in john wick
Could you upload a tutorial video on how to create this? I'd like to follow along and try making it myself.
you are very talented , what do think about making your own videogame.

I read this as "bring a sword". Idk about you, but bringing a sword as a CoD finisher would be cool... anyways, transma--

Not going to lie but this is very very amazing for that animation you made but it almost just like Black ops 6?

Multiple CoD devs liked it on Twitter. If they'll actually put it in Black Ops 6 that'll be really cool.
Accurate.
Insane that you made this in sfm Is this mocapped or is it all keyframed? Id love to know your process on this

As I mentioned in the description, the motion capture for the takedown itself was done with Perception Neuron 2. Basic clean up and retargeting done in Blender and then polished in Source Filmmaker itself. All other animations come from Unreal Marketplace and Mixamo. Guns being fired, thrown and dropped were keyframed.
Can you add some dynamic dripping on bodies after being shot like some more detailed blood
Would've been funny if you made this, but the guy doing the takedown keep tossing guns without bullets in them, and he visibly gets more and more infuriated since he's thrown like 20 of them at this point and none of them are loaded
The pin of shame guy has dissapeared, Noooooooooooooo

очень круто👍
Никогда в колду не играл, но мне понравилось💯
By the way, will you consider doing some more realistic and Brutal finishers, like those in Manhunt and Manhunt 2?
Should’ve had it where the second gun didn’t have ammo either, and just kills by throwing the second gun Double tap
